Dear lybrate user, your tooth which was treated for root canal has been reinfected, this indicates failure of root canal treatment. If you got any capping/crown done after RCT, it has to removed and re-RCT has to be done. If the condition of the tooth is worse, it will have to be extracted/removed. Re-infection after root canal treatment usually happens if complete elimination of infection was not done previously. It totally depends on your choice and the condition of the tooth whether it can be saved or not.

Dental problem I have very yellow teeth. I dont like the colour I went to dentist, he said my colour of teeth is only yellow. How can this be even possible? What should i do to get whitter teeth?

Oral Implantologist (New York University), Advanced Aesthetic Oral & Dental Surgeon. BDS (India)
Dentist, Mumbai
Hii, There can be multiple reasons on why tooth colour is yellow ranging from heredity to medicine related & at times even because of mineral content in the water that we drink. We need to focus on the problem now rather than pondering over the reason. You can go in for bleaching or veneers. Bleaching will be comparatively cheaper than veneers but the whiteness attained will be temporary which will fade away in few months depending on the type of coloured food you eat & your oral hygiene habits. On the other hand veneers will be expensive comparatively but will improve your over all smile completely. Not only the colour of your tooth will become whiter but also any gaps or shape of your teeth can be changed to enhance your smile. These changes will be permanent.

Braces /Orthodontic treatment would help correct the problem quite effectively In cases of protruding teeth, teeth extraction is inevitable. For invisible braces, she can choose either Lingual braces or Ceramic braces.

Braces(orthodontic treatment)

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Braces(orthodontic treatment)

Today smile has become one of the most important of one's personality. Be it personal, or professional. There are so many people who come down to the dentist to get their teeth corrected either cosmetic which includes crowns (porcelain fused metal, metal free) or laminates, or veneers. Or orthodontic tooth movement which is done to move teeth naturally. These are of various types (metal, ceramic, lingual, or invagilin or clear braces. Which usually as per case takes one yr to 1.5 years to get into perfect alignment. For this one must visit the dentist to look for all the clinical details, which as a dentist would decide the time duration and type of braces one would want to go for. At times, there are difficult cases in which extraction may or may not be required, a monthly visit to the dentist. Mild pain during tooth movement. Before we start any treatment we take records in the form of model X-rays. (full mouth, lateral ceph, photographs as per case. All the above details are used to develop a customized treatment plan. This is commonly done by fixing braces to your teeth and using a thin guiding wire to straighten the irregular teeth. Various steps include

Leveling and aligning

Space closing

Detailing and finishing

Retention

Dental braces care

Brush teeth regularly with paste you have to pay special attention to the brackets placed. Use an orthodontic brush, an interdental brush to remove all debris stuck between brackets.

Foods to avoid while wearing brackets

Chewing gum, sticky chewy food.

Sugar substitutes

Hard foods like carrots, apple, nuts which might break brackets.

Lastly, dental retainers which need to be placed for 24 hours initially for a period of 3 months and after that only at night during sleep. Retailers have to be worn for a period of 6 months to one yr. If retainers not worn teeth might start moving back to original position (relapse) so please do as per dentist's recommendations.

Using a hard-bristled toothbrush can harm

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Using a hard-bristled toothbrush can harm
A hard-bristled toothbrush coupled with an aggressive brushing technique can cause irreversible damage to your gums. Use a soft toothbrush and gently brush your teeth at a 45-degree angle, in a circular motion. Using a back-and-forth, sawing motion causes the gums to recede, and can expose the root of the tooth, making teeth extremely sensitive.

Is it possible after a tooth extraction the germs or bacteria still remains in the mouth & can cause problems?

Is it possible after a tooth extraction the germs or bacteria still remains in the mouth & can cause problems?
Hi. As the cavity or tooth decay is heavily influenced by lifestyle, what we eat, how well we take care of our teeth, the presence of fluoride in our water and toothpaste. Heredity also plays a role in how susceptible your teeth may be to decay. So, there are chances of getting cavity again!

Avoid stain-causing foods and beverages – coffee, tea, wine, sports drinks, hard candy, berries and tomato sauce are all foods that can cause tooth discoloration. •Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

I have fluorosis marks on teeth. Planning to go for crowns on front two upper teeth And composite veeners for remaining. Advise if its good or not.

MBA (Healthcare), BDS
Dentist, Chennai
Composite veeners wil get discolor after some years and it will break if you bite hard substances with front teeth hence better go for zirconia or all ceramic crowns itself. If it is a small fluorosis marking you can go for composite veenering ceramic crowns wont get stains and it will be like that itself as like the first without any discoloration after some years.

You have not describe what is the problem. If its paining, it can be due to cavity or broken tooth. Bleeding in gums can result from plaque n calculus. So the best advice would be to elaborate on your problem.
