My 3rd molar tooth is erupting from 1yr. I am not taking any medication regarding the inflammation (its not severe) or pain. Should I take it seriously or will it subside by time?

BDS
Dentist, Bhopal
You should go for an x-ray, then according to the position of your third molar go for surgical removal of the tooth, if the position is proper then you can wait and watch.

Yesterday i visited my dentist as i was having sensivity in my tooth. So he told me that my jaw is such that they are decayiing my teeth ( means teeth aapas mein ragad kar ghis rahe rai) 30% od them are decayed. He said that there is nothing which we can do. Is there any solution?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
If you have either malocclusion or occlusal discrepancy nothing can be done except by restoring your decayed teeth? Again if you however have a TMD disorder you may be able to treat it with some prosthesis or splints.

Sir my mouth smell so badly. I so brush two time in a day then also. Plze help me.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. Kindly consult a physician & dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Sir I have sml problem in my mouth day by day it increase how can I stop it please help me.

• Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. • Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. • Reduce your alcohol consumption. • Stop smoking. • Cut down on coffee. • Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. • Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. • Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. • Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. • Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. • Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. • Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. • Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. • If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. • Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. • You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

My brother used to brush every day and he had cavity. How to protect from cavity.

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Brushing technique is very important aspect for the cleaning of teeth. 6- Cavity Having cavities is not a serious problem at all. Cavities which are not too deep can be excavated and be restored by a dental cement. Cavities that are very deep can be cured by root canal treatment followed by crown ( cap ). For better prevention of cavities , 1- Follow proper brushing technique. 2- Brush twice a day 3-clean your teeth immediately every time after you eat food or liquids. - Do forcefull gargles after every meal. 4- Undergo scaling ( cleaning of teeth) at the interval of every 5-6 months. 5- Visit dentist for regular oral cavity check up every 4 months for the early diagnosis and prevention of dental diseases. Jay Swaminarayan.

I'am suffering from my mouth problems, for 2 months one time in my mouth small scratches are coming those are coming with low vitamin supplying at that time while eating anything i'am feeling so painful. So how can I control this ever.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Hello sir, Quit habits strictly. Seems like you have oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). Kindly consult an oral & maxillo facial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need conservative or surgical management for mouth opening depending upon the stage of OSMF .Advise full mouth opening, ballooning exercise & side to side movement of the jaw. Wrap 25 to 30 ice-cream sticks, make a bundle, put it between upper & lower front teeth for 15 minutes thrice a day increase 1 sticks each day. As for now advice T.SM fibre-30nos, once a day for a month, C. Becosules 5 cap (enriched with Vitamin A, Vitamin B & Vitamin E specifically), for five days in the morning after meals. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

I have a tooth pain like in case of cavity but it isn't a cavity. So what can it be? Is there any home remedy for such pain?

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Solan
Pain can be due to pocket formation in your gums. As a home remedy, you can use warm saline rinses but it will not affect much. You have to go for scaling and polishing.

My daughter is 8 years old. She has cavity in most of teeth. What is the treatment time and cost.

BDS, Master of Hospital Administration
Dentist, Patna
Temporary or milk teeth should be preserved till the permanent coming teeth are on the way. The opg helps diagnosis. Remove the mobile milk teeth. Teeth without pain could be filled with GIC. 400 per tooth or composite 1000 per tooth. Teeth with pain needs pulpotomy and restoration. Which could cost upto 2500 per tooth.

His pain is such that it is unbearable for him, he consulted the local healthcare facility but the consultancy but vain. Sir please suggest some measure and some medicines which gives quick nd effective relief. Thank you.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - have your dentures aligned as needed. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.
