Hi, You need to get it examined by a Dentist. Also use a soft brush to clean your tongue. Don't use metal or plastic scrapers they harm the taste buds of your tongue.

Surgery for removal of wisdom tooth is nothing to be so scared about. Most commonly the procedure is done under local anaesthesia and should take about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the condition of your tooth. Following the surgery you can expect some pain and swelling which is controlled by use of antibiotics and painkillers. Usually the sutures are removed after 7 days of the surgery. In the meantime there are some food restrictions you need to follow, like eating a soft diet.

I am suffering severe throat infection and also blood is coming during tongue cleaning and brushing.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist,
I am suffering severe throat infection and also blood is coming during tongue cleaning and brushing.
Bleeding during brushing may be due to weak gums. Gums may become weak due lack of vitamins, presence of tartar, infection present in the gums. Throat infection may arise due to infection acquired from the environment. Sometimes if you are having gastric problem like acid reflux, the acid may irritate the throat. Thismay also be felt like throat infection. Kindly consult your dentist for gum problem and he also may diagnose your throat problem and he may refer you to an ent doctor if needed.

To avoid infection and reduce pain in a first-degree burn on the tongue: rinse the area well with cool water for a few minutes. Remove any dirt or particles that may be on the burn. Wet a clean cloth with cool water and hold it on top of the burn. Suck on ice chips or a popsicle to soothe the pain. Gargle with cool water or salt water. Avoid warm or hot liquids, which could irritate the burn. Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. Sprinkle a few grains of sugar on the tongue to relieve pain.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser..

Healthy Mouth Happy you- Brushing and Flossing the Right Way

Healthy Mouth Happy you- Brushing and Flossing the Right Way
Right Way to Brush-

Proper brushing takes at least two minutes — that's right, 120 seconds! Most adults do not come close to brushing that long. To get a feel for the time involved, try using a stopwatch. To properly brush your teeth, use short, gentle strokes, paying extra attention to the gumline, hard-to-reach back teeth and areas around fillings, crowns or other restoration. Concentrate on thoroughly cleaning each section as follows:

B1 Tilt the brush at a 45° angle against the gumline and sweep or roll the brush away from the gumline

B2Gently brush the outside, inside and chewing surface of each tooth using short back-and-forth strokes.

B3Gently brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen breath.

Clean the outer surfaces of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth
Clean the inner surfaces of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth
Clean the chewing surfaces
For fresher breath, be sure to brush your tongue, too
Frequency of brushing-

Studies have shown that brushing once a day in preschool settings, using a fluoride toothpaste will prevent cavities. Families should be encouraged to brush additional times at

home. Brushing before bedtime is especially important, in order to prevent plaque and food particles remaining in contact with the teeth throughout the night.

Replacing Toothbrush-

You should replace your toothbrush when it begins to show wear, or every three months, whichever comes first. It is also very important to change toothbrushes after you've had a cold, since the bristles can collect germs that can lead to reinfection.

Electric power brush-

PBRAn electric toothbrush is a toothbrush that uses electric power supplied usually by a battery to move the brush head rapidly, either oscillating side to side, or rotation-oscillation (where brush heads rotate in one direction and then the other).

ADVANTAGES OF AN ELECTRIC POWER BRUSH
1.Faster Brushing
2.Easier Brushing
3.Deep Cleaning
4.Painless Cleaning
5.Stain Removal
6.Fresher Breath
7.Proven Long-Term Results

FLOSSING

Flossing in addition to toothbrushing can reduce gingivitis and halitosis compared to toothbrushing alone.

FLOSDental floss is a bundle of thin filaments used to remove food and dental plaque from teeth. The floss is gently inserted between the teeth and scraped along the teeth sides, especially close to the gums or underneath them. Dental floss may be made of either plastic (nylon, PTFE or polyethylene) or silk, and can be flavored or unflavored, and waxed or unwaxed. An alternative tool to achieve the same effect is the interdental brush.

Advantages of flossing
ØProper flossing removes plaque and food particles in places where a toothbrush cannot reach- under the gum-line and between the teeth.
ØDaily flossing is recommended because plaque build-up can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
ØIt stimulates gums, polishes tooth surfaces, reduces gum bleeding and prevents gum disease.

FLOSSINGFlossing technique
Start with about 18 inches of floss, wind most of the floss around each middle finger, leaving an inch or two of floss to work with.

ØHold the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and- down between your teeth.
ØGently curve the floss around the base of each tooth using a seesaw motion, making sure you go beneath the gum-line. Never snap or force the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue.
ØCurve the floss around the side of one tooth, forming a 'C' shape and rub the floss up and down to clean the tooth. Repeat the procedure in the opposite direction i.e. on the adjacent tooth.
ØUse clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth.
ØTo remove the floss, use the same back-and-forth motion to bring the floss up and away from the teeth.
Floss holders are also available and can be used in the difficult to reach areas.

MOUTHWASH

MWMouthwash or mouth rinse is a chemotherapeutic agent used as an effective home care system by the patient to enhance oral hygiene.

A mouthwash is a flavored liquid that people use to rinse out their mouths before or after brushing their teeth. Some individuals may also rinse with mouthwash between brushings, particularly after eating foods that may cause a person to have bad breath. Mouthwash typically emphasize the treatment and prevention of halitosis as one of the many benefits of mouthwash. Mouthwash can be effective at combating bad breath.

ØBacteria in the mouth can also cause foul-smelling breath. Many antiseptic mouthwash products claim to kill the germs that cause bad breath.
ØSome mouthwash products are designed to help heal sores or irritation after oral surgery.

Wisdom teeth can erupt anywhere between the age of 17 years and the mid-20s. It is usually accompanied by pain, sensitivity, and discomfort in chewing food. The pain also may radiate to head, neck and ear. For transient relief, you can go for pain killers and any antibacterial mouthwash, to keep the area clean, which may be difficult to clean otherwise with a toothbrush. Permanent treatment usually involves either removal of the gum tissue covering the wisdom tooth (if it is present in your case), or extraction of the tooth. Extraction will not cause you any problem with eating food, and it doesn’t need to be replaced, unlike other teeth. Right now you don't have pain, but you must maintain a good hygiene in that area, and get it cleaned from a dentist if required. In case it pains, you must show it to a dentist, and get appropriate medication.

everyone doesn't have pearl white teeth. your teeth color matches your skin colour. you can go for scaling and polishing followed by bleaching for more whiter teeth. avoid harsh brushing as it will remove your outer white enamel layer exposing inner yellowish dentinal layer.

Your symptoms probably have nothing to do with hiv. It doesn't develop so quickly. Also since your tests have been negative I think there is nothing much to worry about. But it would be better to know the hiv status of your partner.
