I have done two brain MRIs in the last 15 months and have been told by the doctors that due to combination of lacunar infarcts observed in the frontal lobe and mucosal thickening in left maxillary sinus, has resulted in low blood flow to the brain. This is caused vertigo and there is no cure.

Vertigo is caused due to disturbances in semicircular canals of vestibular apparatus of the internal ear, blood supply to the posterior part (back) of brain especially pons, medulla and cerebellum. Frontal cortex is not concerned with this type of function. Blood supply to brain is through carotid artery which does not pass through maxillary sinus and its mucosal thickening should not be a reason for decrease in blood supply or lacunar infarctions. While there may not be a reason to deny the facts of the MRI reports but the explanations offered to you sound to be least plausible. Frontal cortex is mostly controlling emotional functions and memory of the person.

My 5-year-old daughter has asthma. What is the effect of using an asthma preventer long-term? I heard that using it for years might cause bone shrinkage. Is it true? Are there any vitamins or supplements to help vision?

Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat.Take only lukewarm water to drink during the day -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily. -Complications like infections of ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Cough- For dry cough.Take syrup Alex-D.(1 tsp thrice daily) -Productive cough:it brings up mucus from behind the throat or lungs.Use syrup Alex. -Get chest xray done if cough lasts for more than a week and consult doctor immediately. -Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

I am suffering from tb and I am on medication fr d past 2 months I ve been taking akt 4, however I just want 2 confirm that on a particular day I took red capsule bfr breakfast however all the other 3 tablets I took @ night. Will it cause any problem.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
It will not create any problem, but try to avoid it in future. Take your tablets regularly for the prescribed time frame. Do not miss any dose. Taking incomplete and irregular tb treatment has resulted in multi drug resistant tb which would then require more expensive drugs and it also has high failure rate.
