Lips always dry, bad teeth gum and blinding time to time. Can you help me with this problem?
Thses are symptoms of gums infection bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result from poor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. Bad breath can also be made worse by the types of foods you eat and other unhealthy lifestyle habits. Basically, all the food eaten begins to be broken down in your mouth. As foods are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream, they are eventually carried to your lungs and given off in your breath. If you eat foods with strong odors (such as garlic or onions), brushing and flossing -- even mouthwash -- merely covers up the odor temporarily. The odor will not go away completely until the foods have passed through your body. Practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Brush teeth after you eat (keep a toothbrush at work or school to brush after lunch). Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. Rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash twice a day. Dentures should be removed at night and cleaned thoroughly before being placed in your mouth the next morning. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. Stop smoking and chewing tobacco-based products. Ask your dentist for tips on kicking the habit. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum (preferably sugarless) or sucking on candy (preferably sugarless) for its treatment you need to visit dentist for cleaning and polishing of you gums and teeth.

Don’t smoke or use smokeless tobacco. Tobacco stains teeth and significantly increases the risk of gum disease and oral cancer. If you smoke or use chewing tobacco, consider quitting. Counsel your kids not to start.

Why Tooth Picking Is Bad for Oral Health
A lot of people love to use tooth picks in order to clear out food stuck in their teeth after meals. Some people even consider to do it as a habit that they will use it, even if they no longer have to. These people do not know that there are possible hazards to using it. In order to convince them to avoid using tooth picks, here are 5 reasons why it is bad for oral health.
It can be a source of oral infections. In fact, it could also be a reason for a person to acquire more severe oral discomforts such as mouth cancer. Keep in mind that tooth picks are never sterile as they are only be stored on tables and closets kept inside their boxes or cases. It would never be ideal to put such thing inside your mouth for health reasons.
Constant tooth picking can break the enamel of your teeth. The enamel which is a hard yet thin layer covering the crown of a tooth is a vital tissue as it serves as the main protection or coat of the tooth. Due to its thinness, it can easily break this tissue given that tooth picks are made up of hard substance. Once the user applies pressure on the tooth, the enamel will easily break off of it. Just imagine all of the damage your teeth enamel has taken so far if you are using it three times a day.
It can be damaging to the gums. Whenever a person is using tooth picks, it is inevitable for them to sometimes hit their gums with it. Worse is when they apply too much pressure and they would accidentally have their gums wounded. If you have wounded or damaged gums, the chances of being able to acquire diseases would be higher most especially if the gums become infected. This is why most dentists advise their patients and clients to use dental flossers instead as they are proven to be more safe

My tooth has been bleeding every time I brush my teeth and spitting what could be the reason please help me out.

My tooth has been bleeding every time I brush my teeth and spitting what could be the reason please help me out.
Bleeding in gums is definitely due to infection. Along with scaling you need to change your brush type and brushing method i. E. If you are brushing harshly with hard bristle tooth brush it will definitely cause trauma to the inflamed gums. After you finished with your scaling i. E. After 24 hours you can start with warm saline rinses. Warm saline rinses means take warm water and 1 spoon of salt. Follow this type of rinsing at least for 5-7 days almost 5-6 times in a day.

If the cavity is superficial, that is, only on the upper layers of the tooth, it can surely be filled with a tooth colored material. However, if it is a deep one, it you may have to undergo an RCT, followed by cap, which is a slightly longer procedure than a usual filling. I suggest that you consult me privately on lybrate so that you attach the pictures of your cavity and I can be in a better position to solve your query, and send across an appropriate prescription. Take care

I have been seeing a lot of questions on bad breath. Bad breath is caused by many factors like calculus, food debris, poor oral hygiene, use of tobacco, other medical problems like decreased saliva due to radiation, or any other medication's. It may be also due to gastric problems and worm infestation. The most common treatment is a professional cleaning and maintaining good oral hygiene. People with decreased saliva can chew on bubble gum or sip citrus fruits to stimulation of salivary gland. Patients with acid reflux should consult a gastrointestinal specialist.

Hello, under bite and cross bite cannot be corrected without Orthodontic treatment. It would be good if you undergo a Orthodontic (braces) treatment.

My front teeth is 1/4 broken. It's necessary to remove that teeth and go for implants.
Hello, If its not mobile then there is no need for removing the teeth. Now if the broken portion has involved tooth pulp then you can go root canal treatment and then capping of tooth or if its not involving tooth pulp a composite restoration may do. Only scenario for removing the tooth is mobility and if it's there you can go for implants. Regards!

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults: we recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

Sir I have doing brush twice a day. But bad smell is coming from my mouth. What is the reason.
Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently. Hi, I am 32 years old female. I had oral submucosa fibrosis for two yr. Last year in June it was operated by buccal pad reconstruction. The doctor removed the left side lower wisdom tooth and the second molar also. I had all impacted wisdom tooth. In August 2016 I was asked to open the mouth forcefully and continue exercises. The mouth opening was increased a lot, like 1.5 cm to 3.3 cm. Under general anesthesia. But it is still not stabilized yet. The rest of the upper wisdom teeth were removed last month as they suddenly came out in bad way. But the second molar in the upper left side is pressing / biting the gum a big way. It has produced a huge wound and a lump of gum tissue in the wisdom tooth area. My doctor grinded that tooth several times but failed. Please suggest something. I am taking mouthwash daily and Kenacort ointment. Should I go for the tooth extraction?

BDS, Certified Endodontics
Dentist, Delhi
Hello mam, thanks for your query. Well your second molar is hitting the lower gum because it has not counterpart, as your lower second molar is already extracted. This will keep on happening periodically as tooth continues to move down untill it meet any stop. This condition is known as supraeruption. Remedy for this is replacement or lower second molar or extraction of upper second molar. But better treatment option can be suggested only after clinical evaluation. So ask your dentist to give you proper guidance for the same. I hope my suggestion will help you to get rid of this problem. Thanks and regards.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks.
