She has been suffering from temporary tonsils. Wat r the suitable foods she is supposed to take n please let me know wat causes this. How can this be avoided?

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
First thing you should get thyroid testing done, and than you may need to hydrate up your body because any symptoms of throat comes with symptoms of nose also dear the symptoms you are getting are due to dryness of the mouth, this is because of lack of mucus in the mouth which is protective layer of our mouth, and is being produced in the mouth by glands which will be helped by good and healthy blood supply to the glands, blood with good blood cells will take oxygen to the gland and gland works, they require oxygen in ample of amount, so if you do not take iron diet on daily basis than this will lead to less of mucus production and hence lead to dryness and thick mucus problem, this thick mucus leads to irritation in mouth hence leads to itching in the mouth, start taking good iron diet on daily basis, and shakes, avoid salty and spicy food.

My friend is 20 years old .When he is depressed or in stress he starts crying, he starts breathing with a loud sound ...
Dear lybrate-user, It is nice of you to help your friend. Please take him to a psychiatrist and get diagnosed. If it is major depressive disorder, he may be treated with antidepressants. If he is suicidal, he may be treated with electroconvulsive therapy also. It is possible that it may be an epileptic (fits) attack. In that case he will be investigated with blood tests and electroencephalogram. He will be started on long term antiepileptic tablets. In any case, he will be alright and normal with treatment. As a friend, it is your duty to take him to a psychiatrist even if he refuses. Otherwise try through family members.

My husband is suffering from sarcoidosis, could I know is there any treatment? Please advise.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
Yes. Definitely sarcoidosis has treatment. The patient should be tested for a definite diagnosis. Involvement of lungs are most commonly seen, although any organ may also be involved. Depending upon the stage and type of disease treatment may have to be given. Many stage 1 lung disease sarcodosis patients may not need any treatment, except careful regular assessment of the disease.

Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. I am a 23 year old boy and I am having wet cough since last three years and the problem is no doctor is able to find the reason why I am having whooping cough. All tests are negative like tb and pneumonia and pft all is negative and I am living completely normal life with no other symptoms only this cough is there alll day. What should I do? Is there any remedy for the same.

LCPS, BAM&S
General Physician, Pune
Whooping cough is a serious disease though it's rarely found. Most of indian population is vaccinated through triple vaccine. So you probably are suffering from persistent cough. Check eosinofil count. Allergy is another cause that needs separate treatment. Find a good physician.
