Sinusitis - How To Cure It Naturally?

Sinusitis is an irritation or swelling of the tissue covering the sinuses. Healthy sinuses are loaded with air. But there are times when they get blocked and loaded with fluid. In such cases, germs can develop and cause an infection. Due to this infection, your nose gets heavily blocked along with you sinuses and might make it difficult for you to breathe.

Conditions that can bring about sinus blockage include the following:

  1. Common cold
  2. Allergic rhinitis (swelling of the lining around the nose)
  3. Little developments or growths in the covering of the nose called nasal polyps
  4. A deviated septum (a shift in the nasal cavity)

Here are some of the ways you can get rid of sinusitis naturally:

  1. Soups and warm water: Drink warm water, soup or broth, and hot tea. These liquids will disperse bodily fluids and drain it from the disturbed sinuses.
  2. Turmeric/Ginger root: Turmeric root is an excellent fragrant spice found in most Indian and Middle Eastern dishes. Turmeric not only contains the regular calming and anti-inflammatory curcumin, it is also an antioxidant. When it is mixed with hot ginger ale and blended with hot tea, this mixture can remove excess fluid from the clogged nasal sections, ease sinus pressure and make you feel better.
  3. Spicy food: Spicy ingredients such as mustard, hot peppers, curry, horseradish, and masala in one’s food may help in clearing severely blocked sinuses. In case you like spices, think about including some hot flavours to your food to open your nasal entries.
  4. Apply warm packs: You can use a warm pack to keep the nasal tissues damp. Also, fill a round bowl or pot with steaming water and place your face over it with a towel around your head to inhale the steam in. This will open up your sinuses and make an easy path for fluid drainage.
  5. Take a steam: High temperature water vapour can saturate the sinuses. Sprinkle a couple drops of eucalyptus in the shower or bath and steam up your bathroom. A hot shower can also relax the bodily fluid as well as the mucus and debris that are stuck inside your nose.
  6. Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is not only powerful in disposing off sinus issues; it can also be used for different skin and hair issues. What it does essentially for sinus infection is that it clears up the nose so that the bodily fluid can be removed quickly. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

Sir I have sinus problem and I feel so much headache. I feel irritation inside my nose what should I do.
After understanding your complain it seems that you are most likely suffering from allergy kind of sinusitis. Their are two types of sinusitis infective and allergic. So the treatment will depends on how you are affected by it and what kind of symptomatology you have. It needs proper treatment, so that you can only get rid of frequent relapses. But it is perfectly curable. If you wish you may contact with proper details.

I am 26 years old , and I have a problem of snoring during sleep . And you snore like a 50 years old man , that's too loud . Can you please help me in this . Thanks.

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, please follow these tips to stop snoring: - reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - sleep on sides instead on back. - elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - clear the nose before going to bed. - establish regular sleep pattern. - keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - anti snoring appliances can also be used.

Hello. I had sex with my male frnd about 4 months ago! now im going through chronic pharyngitis and tonsillitis! I got this on 23 july! mean about 2 months ago! .but my frnd do not have hiv +ve! hes normal! .am I at risk to get from non infected person too?

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are usually the result of a viral infection, such as a common cold or infectious mononucleosis. Other causes include bacterial infections, such as with streptococcal bacteria, and fungal infections, such as candidiasis.it is not because of hiv. get CBC WITH ESR. and consult further for better management.

I have pupl polyp maybe. Is there any treatment for it? Can it be due to bacterial infection or hiv? I had oral sex 8 months ago. I got tested for stds and hiv regularly till 6 months. All came negative. Why do I have this then?

DORL, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Faridabad
Polyp is basically the complicated form of sinusitis, has to be taken care of immediately, this has to be treated on the urgent basis otherwise you may need two stage surgery. Sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusiits and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusitis. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically.

My nasal septum is deviated. And also my nose has become quite long. I want to do rhinoplasty or is there be any other cure available.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Myself is a homoeopath and I want to know what all respiratory problems are you suffering from that has led to dns and if you want to undergo rhinoplasty due to cosmetic reasons then no problem but if for dns then I would suggest you to undergo homoeopathic treatment but for that I require your complete case history-----------------

I am suffering from sinus from last 5 years. Is balloons sinoplasty is also done in India is it effective. What is price of this treatment.

Master of Surgery, Post Graduate Diploma in ENT, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Thane
Yes it is done in india at may centers. Cost depend upon city, hospital. It is a costly surgery. For sinus and nose problems, try taking steam inhalation for 3 times a day. If problem is not solved in 2-3 days, you may need additional medicines.
