This is a lifestyle disease. You need to modify your eating habits. Avoid spicy fried sour junk food. Avoid large heavy meals. Instead take frequent small meals. Try to avoid food for 2-3 hours before going to bed. Regular light exercise also helps. If this is for long time take a gastroenterologist's opinion at least once.

Vertigo chakkar aane aur santulan khone ke anubhuti ko kahte hain. Iska mukhya kaaran aantrik kaan men sthit vestibular granthi mein kriyadosh hota hai. Is granthi mein 3 ardhchandraakaar naliyan hotee hain jinme taral padarth bharaa hota hai. Gardan ghumaane se yaa jhukaane se is taral padaarth ke stur mein parivartan hotaa hai jisase humein apnee sthiti kaa gyaan hota hai aur hum apna santulan banaaye rakh sakte hain. Kabhi kabhi is taral padaarth mein jo calcium ke chhote chhote kann hote hain we mukhya granthi ko chhodkar naliyon mein chale jaate hain jisase gardan ghumaane yaa jhukaane se khaaskar sokar uthate ya baithkar khadey hote samay achaanak sab ghoomtaa hua anubhav hota hai aur gir padenge aesaa lagta hai. Isko theek karne ke liye gardan kaa ek vishisht vyayaam karnaa hotaa hai tatha kuchh dawaaiyaan bhi leni hotee hain.

Respected Sirs, I am 73 years old and have been suffering from Laryngeal Problems for which I had to undergo the surgeries in 2012 and my Larynx has been removed from my body. Now the Tracheostomy Tube is being used for easy breathing system. I can not speak to others since audibility has been lost, the Sticky (white) Cough is being formed inside the tube as a consequence of that the breathing problem starts. Kindly favour me with your esteemed advice/suggestions to get rid of the breathing problem and how to revive my speaking ability at the fag end of my life. I sincerely await your advice as well as suggestions at your earliest. Thanks

Respected Sirs,

There are a number of options for speaking with a tracheostomy. The tube inserted into the tracheostomy can be plain or have an inflatable cuff. When the cuff is pumped up there is a greater seal inside the throat than with plain tubes. A tight seal can allow more air to enter the lungs, but also may prevent enough air from moving through the vocal folds. This makes speech quite difficult. People with a plain tube or who may only need the cuff inflated at certain times may get enough air for speech. They may also be able to produce speech by blocking the tube with their fingers or hand. Then the person can breathe through their mouth and nose and vibrate the vocal folds as they did before surgery. These methods do not work for all people. Covering the tube may cause more resistance to breathing that some people can't handle. Bacteria from the hand or fingers may cause infection, a particularly serious situation for people with swallowing problems. Some people may not get enough air for speech without blocking the tube but may not have the awareness, muscle movement, or muscle tone to block the tube well.

I have had a pock inside nose, it's unbearable, some suggested to put ghee, please suggest what to do.

MS , MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Hi. There are hair follicles in the outer part of the nostrils and they can get infected some times because of even trivial trauma and cause a pustule. You need to take antibiotics and antiinflammatory medicines and apply topical steroid based antibiotic ointment. If this does not resolve the problem then pus has to drained.

Vertigo and role of physiotherapist

BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Gurgaon
Vertigo and role of physiotherapist
Vertigo and role of physiotherapist.

Vertigo is a type of dizziness where you feel like the world is spinning. Nausea and vomiting are common and you may feel unsteady. Often vertigo is eased by lying down and made worse by sitting up or moving. It's not the same as simply feeling faint, dizzy or lightheaded when getting up. Vertigo can be very disabling.

Causes of vertigo

Vertigo can have many causes. The most common is from a disturbance of the vestibular system, the part of the inner ear and brain that controls balance and maintains eye focus during movement. Special sensors in the inner ear send messages back to the brain that help you maintain balance and focus. Common causes for vestibular system problems include:

Illness or disease
Certain medications
Head trauma (e. G, car accidents, falls, impact sports)
Ear infections (neuritis, labyrinthitis)
Aging
Stroke and/or brain injury

How physiotherapists help

Physiotherapists specifically trained to assess and treat vestibular problems are highly skilled at treating vertigo caused by vestibular problems. Research demonstrates vestibular rehabilitation improves balance, decreases dizziness/vertigo symptoms and increases general activity levels.

Getting an accurate diagnosis is important for effective treatment. If your condition is suitable for vestibular rehabilitation, your physiotherapist may include one or all of the following:

Balance retraining exercises
Specific exercises for the vestibular system
Special repositioning maneuver for vertigo caused by the crystals in the inner ear becoming stuck
Monitor progress and continually challenge the vestibular, visual and balance systems
Home program of individualized vestibular exercises

Often improvement or complete resolution of symptoms can be achieved within 6-8 weeks.

Your physiotherapist will:

Take a careful history to determine the type of vertigo
Screen for conditions requiring medical follow-up
Assess your balance and co-ordination
Complete a full examination of your nervous system
Test your vestibular system using special eye and head movement testing

I have deviated nasal septum which lead to breathing problems. My nose always remain congested. (My immunity to cold is very low. I get tired easily during physical activity). One homeopathy doctor prescribed me ALPHA-NC for breathing and nose congestion problem. Kindly advice.

MS - ENT

If you have only deviated septum, you must go for an operation called septoplasty. If you have also common cold frequently, you must first go for ct scan pns before septoplasty. Send me report of ct scan, so, I can guide you further.

I have sinusitis problem. I suffered with head ache. I need your help to out from my problem. There are any medical tips to eradicate my problems. please response to my request.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS

Do you have blocking of the nose / cold / fever? deviated nasal septum / enlarged inferior turbinates cause the opening of the sinuses to get blocked & thereby resulting in the sinuses getting involved. Aeration of the sinuses are a must to keep them healthy. A nasal endoscopy is needed in your case to find out what & where exactly is the problem. An ent surgeon will be in a position to help.
