I have 2 mm stones in my kidney n I have so much pain in my stomach so what should I do pls tell sir.
You should follow these very important and simple things to prevent stone formation & to get sure treatment of kidney stones: 1. First take a lot of fluid daily. The more you drink water and fluid, the less amount of deposit accumulate in kidney. So you have to make your kidneys healthy just only by drinking 2-3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water. 2. Stones are mainly formed of calcium and oxalate. So take very low quantity of milk, cheese, cream and dairy products. 3. Do not take strawberry, plum, spinach and tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables are rich in oxalate. So avoid them to prevent from kidney stones. 3. Stop taking supplementary vitamin d and calcium medication. 4. Avoid animal protein diet- eggs, red meat, fish in diet. 5. Take less amount of salt, pickle and western foods. They have high amount of sodium. So avoid it. 6. Urinary infection are also one of the cause of stone. So take proper antibiotic treatment of urinary infection on time. Even when you feelburning sensation or pain during urination, don't avoid it. Take medication as soon as possible. I hope you follow them in your life andstay healthy. 7. You can take gokshur tablets of himalaya for 3 months. It definitely get relief from kidney stones.

8 mm is a big stone which only rarely may pass spontaneously. You may need surgical / endiscopic removal. Have plenty of oral fluids. Cyst treatment would depend upon its size, exact location etc. Smaller cyst do not require any treatment. Larger cyst requires surgery. Mostly laparoscopic surgery.

8 Causes Of Chronic Kidney Diseases!

MBBS, MD (Med), DNB (Nephrology)
Nephrologist, Mumbai
8 Causes Of Chronic Kidney Diseases!

Chronic Kidney Disease (also known as Chronic Renal Failure) is the progressive loss of kidney function occurring over a span of several months to several years and is characterised by the replacement of kidney architecture with nonfunctional fibrotic shrunken tissue. Chronic kidney disease is classified into five stages on the basis or proteinuria (presence of protein in large amounts in the urine) or Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) 1 being the mildest with no distinct symptoms and 5 being end stage renal failure.

Causes and Risk Factors of Chronic Kidney Disease

The various reasons (called risk factors) that can increase chances of Chronic Kidney Diseases are:

  • Diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia (excess fat proteins in the blood)
  • Hypertension
  • Family history heritable renal disease
  • Older age smoking
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Past episodes of acute renal disease
  • Kidney Stones
  • Excessive self-medication especially pain killers

The direct causes of Chronic Kidney Diseases are:

  • Diabetic nephropathy (leading cause)
  • Hypertensive nephropathy Glomerulonephritis (swelling of the glomerulus in the kidneys)
  • Reno-vascular disease (ischemic nephropathy)
  • Polycystic kidney disease
  • HIV-associated nephropathy
  • Transplant allograft failure
  • Exposure to drugs and toxins

Diet that you must maintain in Chronic Kidney Disease:

It is essential to make dietary as well as lifestyle amends once you are diagnosed with CKD. The main purpose of this diet is to maintain the levels of carbohydrates, fluids and minerals. This is done to prevent the buildup of waste products in the body as the kidneys are unable to fulfil its function properly. It is recommended to refer a dietician who can make you a diet chart that helps you adhere to your diet.

Here is a list of food items that you may avoid or may consume if you are suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease:

  1. Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are a good source of energy. If the intake of protein has been restricted, then it is recommended to replace that with carbohydrates as a source of energy. Fruits, vegetables, grains and bread can be consumed as they are rich source of fibres, minerals and various types of vitamins. You can indulge in some hard candies or sweets as well.
  2. Fats: Fats can provide a good amount of calories as well. Ensure that you only stick to healthy fats such as the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that are good for your cardiac health.
  3. Reduce your phosphorus intake: A diet with no more than 800 mg of phosphorus can help reduce the risk of too much phosphorus building up in your blood. Limit intake of foods with high levels of phosphate or phosphate additives such as organ meats, whole grain breads, processed foods, cola beverages, cheese, dried beans, liver, peanut butter, dairy products and chocolate. Many beverages and processed foods have these additives. Other high-phosphorus foods to limit include:
    • Ice cream
    • Legumes
    • Milk
    • Nuts
    • Yogurt
  4. Monitor your potassium levels: Usually, potassium is not restricted in stage 3 CKD unless lab tests show potassium is too high. Your doctor may make medication changes or prescribe a low-potassium diet. Reduce an elevated potassium level by limiting some high-potassium foods and potassium chloride (found in salt substitute and many low-sodium processed foods). Some high-potassium foods to limit or avoid include:
    • Avocado
    • Bananas
    • Cantaloupe
    • Honeydew melon
    • Dried fruit
    • Legumes
    • Milk
    • Nuts and seeds
    • Oranges and orange juice
    • Pumpkin and winter squash
    • Tomato products (juices, sauces, paste)
  5. Proteins: Usually, before undergoing dialysis, it is recommended to adhere to a low-protein intake diet. However, when you are undergoing dialysis, it is necessary to consume a certain amount of class one high-quality protein like nonvegetarian, paneer, soyabean, mushroom. This detailed information can be obtained from your dietician.
  6. Fluids: In the early stages of CKD, your fluid intake is not monitored. But as the disease progresses, you need to check your intake of fluids as too much fluids may accumulate in your body and create swelling in your legs and cause pressure on your lungs and heart.
  7. Sodium Or salt intake: Keeping a check on your salt intake reduces the risks of high blood pressure. Also, having food low on salt can reduce your thirst and prevent fluid retention in your body. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a nephrologist.

Follow the given medication as directed:- 1) 5 drops of homoeopathic causticum 30 at early morning daily before brushing teeth 2) 5 drops of homoeopathic conium mac 30 before going to bath daily. 3) 5 drops of homoeopathic baryta carb 30 just one hour before dinner daily. 4) homoeopathic mother tincture sabal serrulata q, 30 drops, twice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with the aforesaid medication few changes in your lifestyle are also necessary. I am 59 years old I am having creatinine level less more than 4.0 now what should I do.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I am 59 years old I am having creatinine level less more than 4.0
now what should I do.
You have to see if there are any effects on you. Creatinine level alone is not the factor to decide on treatment the normal range of creatinine in a healthy adult male is 0.6 to 1.2 mg/dl. Creatinine levels higher than 10.0 indicate very severe kidney disease. A measurement above 8.0 will prompt your healthcare provider to run additional tests.

There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed to protect against future flares or prevent gout or uric acid problems from occurring in the first instance: Maintain a high fluid intake (2-4 liters a day) Avoid alcohol Maintain a healthy body weight Eat a balanced diet Limit fish, meat and poultry intake. If attempting to lose weight, avoid low-carbohydrate diets. If carbohydrate intake is insufficient, the body is unable to burn its own fat properly, releasing substances called ketones into the bloodstream. This results in a condition called ketosis that can increase the level of uric acid in the blood. It is most important to avoid foods that are high in purines, to ensure that the levels of uric acid in the blood do not get too high. Here is a list of high-purine foods to be wary of: Beef kidneys Brains Dried beans and peas Liver Mackerel Mushrooms Lose some weight by walking or other exercise, avoid meats and get always be on a prescribed diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian. I am a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and a doctor, consult privately for detailed treatment plans using diet and medications.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Sir, I have 6 mm stone in Both kidney, Can it Remove through Urination? And How? What Care I take? Please Answer only...
Dear Lybrate User, A kidney stone is mainly formed due to the accumulation of the minerals present in urine. Such accumulation occurs mainly due to low intake of fluids. Continuous low fluid intake results in the deposits of the minerals over the stone & eventually leads to an increase in the size of the stone. Formation of stone leads to pain along the kidney region. If the size of the kidney stone is below 3mm then it is possible to get rid of it without any surgery. Take Homoeopathic Mother Tincture BERBERIS VULGARIS Q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water for 15 days. The stone will be expelled through urine in between the span of 15 days of medication. But if the size of the stone is more than 3mm then you should surely go for surgery.

Thanks for the query. Insulin is usually recommended to be taken half an hour before food. Because by the time digestion of food converts it to glucose, insulin is available for action. Insulin does not cause any other side effects. Occasionally if food delayed or if inadequate food is taken, then there is a possibility of glucose level going down (hypoglycemia). If you have any other doubts please come back. Thanks.
