Hi lybrate-user to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

I am having venous stasis and the entire area of the leg has turned dark in colour and there I developed some ulcers, which don' t seem to heal. How can I repair this problem, conservatively first and then I will think of any kind of vascular surgery. Please advise.

I have been suffering from sleep apnea since last 7-8 years when I used to wake up early in morning 3-4 am with bad dream and huge headache along with weight loss . One of the top doctor at Sir Gangaram Hospital advised me Rivotril 0.5 mg for faster relief which did give me sleep also allowed me to regain weight over 5-6 years. But I wanted to get rid of my dependence on sleep medicine and went to a sleep specialist who advised me sleep test. Report indicted I am having excessive snoring with oxygen deprivation which is disturbing my sleep. My AHI is 11.6 /hr with minimum oxygen saturation at 91%. He advised use of CPAP m/c on trial for 7 days. I could use CPAP only for 3-4 days as it puts me into inconvenience specially my upper jaw becomes painful and tight in the morning besides other inconvenience of using this mask. While morning walk and meditation has allowed me to get rid of medicine for last 10 days. I still get restless sleep after 3-4 am and headache in morning and not completely cured. I had front upper 3 teeth crowned (middle teeth has to be removed and 2 side teeth crowned in order to have front look intact) around same time (8 years back) and feel the less gap in 3 crowned front upper teeth and raised portion could be troubling me for lack of oxygen or when I wear mask for CPAP. Can you please advise what should I do as this problem is spoiling my health and I am determined to get rid of this.

Dear patient, calorie dense food should be incorporated in your diet like dried fruits, potato, sweets, nuts, jam jelly, banana or mango shake, porridge, badam kheer etc. leafy vegetables should be restricted in your diet as they reduce appetite. you should take 3 major meals a day and snacks in between. butter, margarine should be taken. Adequate amount of egg, meat, fish, milk should be taken as it help you for tissue building in your body.try to take 1 boiled egg at every morning. you should eat more food at each meal. Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight.If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight.

I don't know to pity your wife or to be joyful for her. It is really wonderful to hear this because many young men are not having that much sex in their lives; and their women are frustrated. But in your case there is nothing you need to explore as a substitute in place of your wife: you may develop an attraction to the alternative inadvertently. In fact abstinence for a month will invigorate your desire and bring a craving to be back with a renewed gusto. You both will really enjoy that. Anyway, in all these matters some self-control is certainly necessary exercise.
