Hi, I am 27 years old. I got married 2 years before. And till now i did not get pregnant. I suddenly increased my weight. I don't know why. So I just take my thyroid and haemoglobin test yesterday. The report of haemoglobin is 12.1 and the report of thyroid is T3 level 3.36 T4 level 1.04 serum TSH level is 1.11. So please tell me doctor as I have thyroid? And how can I reduce my weight? What is the correct time for intercourse to get pregnant?

For your height 5.2 feet & weight 65 kg, you need to reduce only 10 kgs which you can bring down by sensible dieting and exercise. No diet charts-just give up sweets, sugar, bad fats through street food but do take some good fats which give proteins too like a katori of assorted nuts + a spoon of pure ghee/butter. Take a high protein diet which is filling like a glass of toned milk, curd+ banana, boiled egg, dried chane & peanuts and apple/seasonal fruit as a snack. Cut down on other carbs also. Go for long walks as an exercise / keep a stable cycle at home and exercise while watching tv. Do some stretching exercises-watch cds available for yoga. Regarding pregnancy, your thyroid is a bit on low side but I will not suggest thyroxine hormone, as it may affect the conception. With diet and exercise your thyroid will improve. Get an ultrasound test on 10th day after cycle to look at developing follicles. Get back here with us report and period history.

HOW GYNO COMASTIA CAN BE TREATED ?

DNB (Obst and Gynae), MS (Obst and Gynae- Gold Medalist), MBBS (Gold Medalist, Hons)
Gynaecologist,
Depends on actual cause. Sometimes, it's physiological, that occurs around puberty and resolves by its own. Otherwise, treatment of the cause is usually sufficient. Sometimes, no cause is found, in that case, liposuction will cure it.

I am 40 year old my problem is heavy period and pain.

Menorrhagia may be defined as a heavy menstrual bleeding over several cycle. The traditional, objective, definition of menorrhagia is of menstrual blood loss of 80 mL or more per cycle. Measured blood loss has been shown to have little correlation with women's own perceptions of bleeding heaviness. Immediately give to stop bleeding 1. Mollifoleum 30 2. Hememilis 30 After stoppage bleeding you must be treated for root cause and take treatment. If you are serious I'll take up the case through Lybrate.

Me and my gf had unprotected intercourse on 9th June. She took an I pill on 10th. She was a Virgin, but she's bleeding daily. In the starting blood's quantity was negligible. But she has stomach ache from then. And now her period date has arrived yesterday. And she is bleeding more than she has ever bled before. She's feeling very weak and she keeps getting body ache, head ache and stomach ache. Please suggest something.

She should immediately see a gynecologist. This could be dangerous. You are doing a very bad thing. Unprotected intercourse without marriage is not a right thing to do with your gf. Basically are you a friend or her enemy who can spoil her life.

If you have missed period in april, then only get urine pregnancy test done. Otherwise no need to worry about it. Regarding infection, maintain hygiene, use cotton undergarment and avoid using ordinary soaps in those areas.

You should go for urine pregnancy test. If its negative, then there is nothing to worry. If you are feeding your child then there are possibilities of delaying of menstruation.

I am suffering from hypo thyroid will there be any problem in my pregnancy

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist,
If your Sr. TSH level is below 2.5, there should be no problem in your pregnancy. However, if Hypothyroidism is not well controlled (i.E. If Sr. TSH level is above 2.5), chances of conception may be reduced. Also, there is an increased risk of abortion and foetal developmental problems.

How Ayurveda can Help you with Postnatal Care

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

How Ayurveda can Help you with Postnatal Care

For a mother, the first few months after delivery are crucial since the uterus after expanding due to delivery, shrinks back to its normal size. Moreover the tendons, ligaments and muscles connected to the uterus begin to regain the power and strength lost during labor. A lot of emphasis is put on postnatal care in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda suggested diet tips:
According to your digestive system, you must take Sesame oil i.e. Til oil and ghee i.e. clarified butter after mixing it with panchkola. Once this mixture has been digested, you must consume rice gruel and milk that is medicated with Vidharigandhadi gana or panchkola. Apart from these, you must consume jaggery water for about a week. After a week, you must eat foods that are easily digestible to help you regain your strength.

Do's and Don'ts:
1. Do massage yourself with Vatahara Oil
2. Do bathe with warm water
3. Do keep your perineum and breasts clean
4. Do urinate every 5 hours
5. Do breastfeed properly
6. Don't consume food irregularly
7. Don't have stale or cold food
8. Don't retain urine or feces
9. Don't indulge in sex or exercise

Ayurvedic medicines and herbs:
All the medicines and herbs mentioned below are never advised together. An ayurvedic specialist will usually give you a combination of a few medicines depending on your symptoms and condition.
1. Dashamoolarishtam: Dashamoolarishtam is extremely effective in boosting your immunity and keeping infections at bay. It is usually prescribed for the first few months as it also helps reduce inflammation and pain.
2. Jeerakarishtam: Jeerakarishtam is well known for inducing normal lactation, and is usually prescribed to mothers during the monsoon or winter seasons. This is because it keeps the body warm owing to its hot nature.
3. Shatavari Gulam: Improve lactation and achieve overall hormonal balance by consuming Shatavari Gulam.
4. Pulileham: Pulileham is administered to new mothers from the third week onwards for about a month and half.
5. Shatavari: Shatavari herb is mixed with boiling milk to improve the production of breast milk and avoid post partum depression. It is also useful for normal involution of the uterus.
6. Musta: Apart from improving breast milk production, musta herbs also relieves clogs in milk ducts and inflammation.

I am 17 year old female. My vagina smells and some time I feel burning sensation.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
At 17 years your body is still maturing and by that I mean the vagina, uterus and ovaries are growing. During this growth the vaginal lining gets transformed from a delicate lining to a slightly tougher one. This change is also accompanied by growth of cells and destruction of old cells. The vaginal area also gets colonised by healthy bacteria they provide a better protection from infections by regulating the ph of the vagina. Due to food fads and some fungal infections the bacteria of this area are altered and this causes itching and burning sensation. The smell is also due to this alteration. I would like to sugegst to you few home remedies: 1. Wear cotton inner clothes 2, if you sweat a lot, have a bath two times a day 3. After passing urine and during cleaning the private parts, always wipe the area from front to back and not from back to front. Wiping back to front is harmful as it transfers harmful bacteria from anus to the vulva and this causes change in ph and infections. 4. Using scented personal hygiene products also cause more harm by making the ph change. 5. Use a moisturising soap for washing the vulva and avoid the" commercial" vaginal wash if these measures do not help, seek a gynecologist and get examined to get the assessment and treatment if required.

I have to do sex withmy girlfriend for first time. But she is afraid of pain that will occur from the virginity loss. I do not want her to be in pain. What should I do. I thought to give her 2 sleeping pills so that she would get in deeply sleep and not get hurt. Is this a good idea. Yes or no If no then why so?

MBBS
General Physician, Udaipur
No this is not a good idea. Use lubricant gelly during sex. First you should treat her romantically. Then go for a foreplay, then you should start sex. Vagina will wet and there will be very less pain.
