Honeyji, if hypothyroidism has been diagnosed then only treatment is to continue taking thyroxine tablets as you have been advised. This treatment is for life time. Normally there is no pain involved in this condition. It is better if you meet your doctor and sort it out. But treatment has to be continued without a break. Plus also avoid cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts, soya and soya containing products and coffee. Consume good deal of green vegetables, fruits, use whole grain flour for making chapatis and rotis.

Ganglion, if painful can be surgically removed. But you have to remember that they can recur in about 10 - 15 % people. There is no role for aspiration since the recurrence rate is even higher. Sometimes it does disappear on its own.

Requires detailed investigation and examination Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There can be multiple causes of pain in legs, it can just be muscular pain, to vitamin deficiencies, causes in nerves or vessels or it can just be a systemic cause. From an orthopaedic point of view, we can advise her to: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre match warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tets for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation but if the pain continues and becomes severe then it is advisable to meet up with a doctor in person. Back pain at your age is not a good sign. Get your vitamin levels checked. Drink plenty of water and take adequate fruits and green vegetables. 10-15 almonds daily is good for your health. Exercise regularly. Avoid jumping and jogging as it aggravates back pain. Consult orthopedic surgeon if back pain persists.

Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

First get an x ray spine done a/p and lateral view. Avoid lifting heavy weights, correct your sitting posture sit straight with support to back, if needed change your chair. Till you get x ray done apply hot water bag twice a day, it may help.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are many causes of pain in lower back region. It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with intervertebral disc, narrowing of spinal canal, any bony instability besides many other, so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means mode of onset of this pain. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiating leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Ideally 5 years is quite a long time for you to be having these issues, and if examination findings point, we should think of getting a dynamic x ray of the involved region of your back done and mri scan of the spine to rule out any major pathology. Watch your weight. If you are obese then try to lose weight by regular exercise. Eat fresh fruit, vegetables, whole wheat products and some pulses (high in purine) every day. Enjoy low-fat milk and dairy products daily. Keep an eye on the purine content of food. Avoid offal, shellfish and crustaceans and tinned fish such as sardines in oil. Uric acid diet should be relatively high in carbohydrates, moderate in protein and low in fat. Complex carbohydrates like whole grain cereals, fruits and vegetables contain fiber that can help in proper digestion of the foods and assimilation of the nutrients. Eat no more than 100 gm of meat, sausages, fish and poultry a day. Say no to alcohol and sweetened cold drinks. Fresh fruits like apples, bananas, oranges and lime are beneficial. Black cherries are considered to be beneficial in reducing uric acid levels. Drink at least two liters of low-calorie fluids a day. Recommended fluids are water, tea and fruit juice. Please note that normal uric acid levels in our body. Men 3.5 to 7.0 mg/dl, women 2.5 to 5.7 mg/dl.

Sir, basically I am cardiology patients, done angioplasty, and regularly taking tab- efiplat 10, astoor 10, nebicard2.5 &nexpro 20 for (emty stomac morning) in addition to this I ahve problem of disc prolaps l5, si, due to which I have lumpiness over both legs. Recently I had problem of prostate enlarge bph grade 1, due to which urination was difficult. Upon consultation with urologist urivoid-20, twice a day &afidura tab 0-0-1, lessix 0-1-0 is taking, also I am antral gastritis patient, usually I take veg, however occasionally takes chicken too. My problem is I have swelling over both legs (swelling covers angles, foot,) after taking food or water swelling increase, also stomach gets upset, hence feel fatigue. This discomforts I am facing since march 2015. Please advise what is the reason for swelling? and why my legs are getting lumpiness and pain, also abdominal difficulties? request you to advise,

Yes she fell down from our steps 20 years back. Now her pain is not bearable she cannot stand easily or walk properly doctor she only take pain killer due to her bone in L4 and L5 have some gap. Goodevening mam I gone through your question. What I feel would help your mother is to first of all get treated for the back pain. Please do a session of ift and ultrasound treatment physiotherapy for about 10 days. Then her pain should come down gradually. It will take about 5 to 7 days for the pain to come down. There will be a couple of exercises to follow after that. The exercises may vary beacuse of the gap that you have between your discs. Do not worry her pain will come down gradually and then she should feel better. Her walking pattern will change only if her pain comes down.

Hello, there are many causes behind backache *any strain or sprain in the muscles or ligaments of the back during lifting of heavy objects is the main cause of the lower back pain. *sitting in the wrong posture for a very long time is another cause. *people suffering from constipation may also suffer from lower back pain. *sometimes sleeping on wrong type of beds can also cause pain in the back. Follow the tips *take rest or move about once in 1-2 hours in case of working in a constant position. *maintain a good posture while reading or working with computers. *take a high fibre content diet like vegetables, fruits, etc.
