  1. Start with primer -- if you're old enough for laugh lines, a skin care makeover can give you a fresher, younger look. Better routine calls for skin primer - a high-quality primer fills in small wrinkles, making them less visible.
  2. Forgo thick foundation -- apply moisturiser, primer, then a light liquid foundation for additional skin-plumping moisture -- tapping it in gently with a sponge, rather than rubbing it in.
  3. Avoid clown eyes -- get yourself a good magnifying mirror.
  4. Enhance the shape of the eye -- apply it in a thin streak along the line where the lashes begin, top and bottom. This will enhance the shape of your eye and create the illusion of thicker lashes. Use soft shades and a light touch when applying eye shadow.
  5. Put eyebrows back on -- use an eyebrow pencil that complements your hair colour. Placing powder over the pencil will help it stay put.
  6. Don't let the lips 'bleed' -- to keep colour from travelling, use moisturiser, then coat the lips with foundation before applying lipstick.

You must try and try again until you succeed. Loss of control over the addiction is not surprising since that is a major part of the enslavement to substances. That also means that if you want you can give it up anywhere, anytime. But the better reason to give up smoking is to relate to the harmful effects of tobacco. Also the peer pressure is very great while in college and in the hostel, and it appears that you are not able to say ‘no’. To be ‘in’ with the crowd you may hesitate to refuse to join them and go along with the flow. But this is hurting you further, and down the line you will find it increasingly difficult to quit. Do it now even if your friends ostracize you: your life is at stake, not theirs. When quitting, you must take one day at a time. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

How to Deal with Runner's Knee

Runner's knee is a painful condition that is usually encountered by athletes who indulge in varied exercises like running, jumping, walking, biking and more, on a regular or professional basis. The kneecap is a region that gets affected with aches and pain when a person is suffering from Runner's knee. This condition can occur due to a fall or constant bending of the knee, which can lead to misalignment of the knee joints and knee cap. Also, weak muscles and lack of balance during physical activities can add to the risk of contracting this condition.

Here's how you can deal with it.

- Give it Rest: Literally! Suffering from Runner's knee could also mean that your body is trying to ask you to slow down. Wear and tear from excessive levels of physical activity can lead to Runner's knee, and in such cases, the best way to come back to peak physical form is to take some rest so that the knee is free of activity and consequent pain until it is ready to take on exercise again.

- The Only Way is 'Up': When you are suffering from pain in the region behind and around the knee cap due to Runner's knee, the best way to alleviate the pain is to place your knee in an elevated position. Get yourself some comfortable cushions and pile a few of them up before placing your knee on top. This position will give support even as blood circulation increases and inflammation, if any, decreases.

- Anti-inflammation Medication: See your doctor for chronic Runner's knee and find out if you are suffering from inflammation which may require the help of medication. This medication can bring down and gradually eliminate the inflammation or swelling, to give you relief from the pain. Remember to check for side effects before you take these medicines, though.

- Strengthening Exercises: A sure shot way of dealing with chronic pain is to do some muscle strengthening exercises as prescribed by your orthopaedic specialist or a physiotherapist. Doing these exercises will give your muscles the strength to support your knees in a better way while you indulge in athletic activities. Remember to substantiate these exercises with a calcium and protein rich diet as well.

- Cold Compress: In case you have had a fall or suffered an injury which has led to Runner's knee, you can make use of a cold compress or an ice pack to relieve the pain for some time. Ice is a well-known treatment for acute and sudden pain.

Runner's knee is a condition that needs care, rest, and medication if it is persistent. If these methods do not help, you should see a doctor for scans and tests.

Hello, always eat less then your capacity, eat slowly, chewing foods properly, need to drink minimum 10 glass of water in a day, avoid excess use of spices, chilies, pickles, tea n coffee. Take 1 cap garlic pearls in morning fresh fruits n home made juice, steam vegetable or soup in diet is good for you stay healthy- naturally.

I do have black patches under my armpits. In the worst situation the irritation and itching creates rashes. I Also loose skin. I am applying zole- f cream to reduce the infection, however this only suspends it for a while and it comes back within days after I stop using this ointment. Please suggest.

Take sulphur 30, 3 drops , daily morning. Take azadirachta 1x, 2 tabs twice a day. Echinaecea 1x, 2 tabs after lunch. Apply topi sulphur on the affected areas. Rever me after 7 days.

Hi Lybrate User - Your BMI is 20.91 which comes under the 'normal' weight category. Right now you should just aim to be confident of yourself the way you are and work on building strength and fitness. Most of the Cricket stars of India or Tennis/ Badminton World Champions would have similar height weight (BMI) ratios. So I think you are doing perfectly fine. There is nothing like a 'Perfect Personality' You just need to love yourself the way you are. Biceps don't create personalities. Just focus on being fit, feeling good and please avoid comparison with other people/ models. Just enjoy the way you are.

The sexual feelings that you are experiencing for ladies is NORMAL. But that just suggests that you have liking for female. It does not mean that for every sexual thought that you get with any lady, you must ask them for sex! NO lady will agree with you. Just like you have feelings, they must feel aroused by you too. It is for this that men and youth under go so much grooming and keep themselves fit and fashionable to be able to catch a lady's eye and then break into a conversation. You must learn skill of talking and trying to get the attention of the lady whom you like the most, this may get her to notice you. Good grooming, well manicured, hands and feet, good hair cut, trendy clothes, modest behaviour and gentlemanly approach is what the girls desire. Please do not mix your sexual feelings to them as a "natural" magnet. Girls do not agree for sex very easily. So make friendships with them first and then build your way.

Hives are due to allergy and allergy is the tendency in your immune mechanism to identify normal as abnormal and react to it by secreting histamines for which the antihistamines are given. Antihistamines will definetly relieve but will not cure it permanently. So you need to go for a homoeopathic consultation to assess the tendency of your constitution and a correct medicine which can correct this tendency.

Hi there could be many reasons for weight gain. When you gain weight then obviously several other problems arises. To lose weight we need to focus upon some basic food plan like cutting down on grains and sugar. This helps immediately. We should avoid processed food. The healthy weight loss diet should contain ample amount of vegetable with sufficient protein. Taking some dietary supplements helps in weight loss as well. Sample diet plan breakfast - russian salad with boiled eggs. Lunch - cooked vegetable + 1 chapatti +salad +curd. Dinner - paneer tikka with green chutney. Snacks - dry fruits and nuts with green tea. Suggested supplements microfruit tablet and cytofresh tablets-- daily after breakfast lipolyzer tummy tablet daily--after lunch and dinner.

Dear lybrate-user, Please try to stop smoking at the earliest. It has many health benefits in the long run. When you stop suddenly, you may get withdrawal symptoms like restlessness, irritability, lack of concentration, increased hunger, sleep disturbance, headache, impatience, anxiety, depression, etc. If you have them please don’t get back to smoking, take nicotine gum or lozenge or patch. They are available in all medical shops. You don’t need a prescription from doctors. Use 2 mg gum if you smoke less than 25 cigarettes/day. Use 4 mg gum if you smoke more than 25 cigarettes/day. First 6 weeks, use 1 gum every 1 – 2 hours. Reduce it in week 7 – 9 to one gum every 2 – 4 hours. In week 10 – 12, reduce it further to 1 gum every 4 -8 hours. By 3 months, you will be able to stop both cigarettes and gum fully without any withdrawal symptoms. Please feel confident that you can do it and give yourself some gift for doing it like vacation or books or new mobile. Smoking is a chronic relapsing condition like diabetes and B.P. So please don’t worry if you restart smoking. Start all over again to stop. You will learn the situations that make you smoke and avoid them. Please think of health benefits and money saved often. Plan how to avoid relapsing situations, like smoking friends, along with alcohol, stressful feeling or depression. Delay, drink, deep breathe, distract and discuss are the helpful tips. Increase of non smoking zones, gift yourself for stopping smoking. Even chewing cinnamon may delay. Please remember that the urge to smoke comes and goes like waves. Delay and see whether it goes away. It will like a passing cloud.
