Sir my knees bones had been worn out and doctor has advised me for knee replacement surgery but I don't want surgery ...
Knee pain more than 2 weeks: If your knee is paining since 2 weeks, then you have to rethink whether you had any injury in the previous years. I also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. It might progress further to develop arthritis as it is very common if anyone would've neglected any injury in the previous years it automatically develops into arthritis. Knee Ligament laxity / weakness / knee buckling while climbing stairs / General Awareness If you have problem in your legs then it might be due to ligament laxity where your legs would become very weak due to the old ligament injury and that should be treated immediately. It leads to leads to buckling of the knee while climbing stairs it is very risky and dangerous and it is due to ligament laxity or due to any untreated old injury of the knee ligaments. Wear knee cap so that you will feel firm while walking or climbing stairs.

I am having very severe knee pain problems on my right knee from the past many months, due to which I cannot walk much & also unable to stand for a longer period/duration due to such knee pain. The X-ray reports of my both the knee (as on dated 26.10.2016) says the under-mentioned three things: 1. Digitogram reveals mild OA changes noted involving both knee joints. 2. The patella-femoral compartments show early affection. 3. Joint spaces of the knees are normal. I had tried lots & lots of medicines from the past two years in order to reduce my severe knee (joint) pain problems, but all the medicines had totally/completely failed & none of them had really worked or had helped me or either reduced my severe knee pain problems. I had also gone to many best orthopaedics doctors (nearly six to seven) of Kolkata during these past two years but the medicines prescribed by all of them (i.e these orthopaedics doctors) had not really helped me, even in the least manner or to the least level. I have heard from lots of people that, the medicine named" Macvestin"is very good & extremely helpful in reducing severe & continuous knee (especially joint) knee pain problems. Should I start taking this" Macvestin"tablet/medicine. If yes, then which" Macvestin"tablet should I start with i.e either 500 mg or 1000 mg. Please advice. How many tablets should I consume within 24 hours i.e one tablet or two tablet - i.e within a day. Is this tablet is to be taken/consumed - after eating breakfast, lunch or dinner. Please advice/suggest my all these above-mentioned queries in detail - in my email id i.e"krishnakumar. Chaturvedi@gmail.com"My mobile no. Is" 9674458740"& your goodself can make a call to my mobile no. On any day & at any time. KRISHNA KUMAR CHATURVEDI.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Knee pain when I sit in cross position or in washroom or on floor. What could be the reasons?

Physiotherapist, Latur
Knee pain when I sit in cross position or in washroom or on floor. What could be the reasons?
Hello lybrate-user Sitting with your legs crossed can create the unintended consequence of compressing several blood vessels and nerves which travel through the area of the thigh, knee, and calf.  Nerve compression and restricted blood flow may cause localized pain and numbness.  The pain should quickly subside once your legs are uncrossed. Try pigeon pose yoga, gently massage the area with your hands, you can use hot packs to subsides pain. Take care.

Foot Arch Pain - How to Deal With It?

Foot Arch Pain - How to Deal With It?

Foot arch pain is used in broader context for describing pain in bones, ligaments, muscles and nerve on the foot bottom. Slight damage to any of the components in the foot bottom can cause great pain. For starters, the pain lasts for a brief period, but increases over time if the condition is left untreated. Foot arch pain is more commonly witnessed in people over the age of 60 and among athletes engaged in sports of high impact.
The treatment plan of the pain totally depends on the cause. An early and right diagnosis goes a long way in treating the condition faster. For occasional mild to moderate pain, simple solutions such as footwear change can do the trick. Doctors often suggest four simple methods. This starts with rest followed by applying ice and then trying compression and elevation.

Anti-inflammatory medications are used to treat foot arch pain. Cases that are severe in nature can be treated with steroid and anti-inflammatory injections. For extreme cases, cortisol injections are prescribed too. This is done to relieve pain and release plantar fascia. Even stretching exercises are known to give relief from the pain. Some of the recommended exercises during this period are:

  1. Stretch-related to plantar fascia: This exercise should be performed by crossing the legs at the junction of the knee. The body weight should be rested on the unaffected leg and it should gradually come down to touch the toe. The idea is to stretch the plantar fascia. A set of 20 such movements should be practised on a daily basis. Each movement should last for about 10 seconds.
  2. Foot flexing: This exercise can be practised before getting out of bed. This is the tie when the pain from the plantar fascia is felt the most. This exercise should be repeated 20 times each lasting for about 10 seconds.
  3. Rolling stretch: This exercise should be started by sitting in a chair. A tennis ball should be placed under the foot arch and the same should be rolled back and forth for ten times at a time. The same should be repeated with the second foot. Once this posture gets comfortable, the same should be practised by standing on the ball. It is known to be extremely useful for people suffering from foot arch pain.

How to prevent foot arch pain?
1. Wear shoes that are half an inch lose as they will make feel comfortable while walking
2. Losing weight; obese tends to cause pain in the foot arch
3. Performing free hand exercise and simple stretching on a daily basis
4. Not to overuse the foot. People who stand for more than 5-6 hours at stretch on a daily basis are observed to have foot arch pain. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist.
