M 25 years old and my tongue is infection like sore and thrush. How to cure from this infection. Please tell me medicine.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Oral thrush is a fungal infection which occurs due to dry mouth, uncontrolled diabetes and weak immune system with debilitating disease or patient on corticosteroids. You may need fluconazole & renal safety dosage of amphotericin b (iv drugs to be used only with the advice of oral & maxillofacial surgeons). Kindly consult an oral & maxillofacial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need candid ointment until then. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

You may get white teeth upon dental consultation for sure. But kindly consider adjunct condition like-avoid smoking, tobacco (if taken, long term medicines, high level of water impurities etc etc. Bcz once you whiten your teeth if these things persist it may occur over time again.

I am 19 year old boy who is suffering from severe bad breath due to tongue and I don't know what to do. I also masturbate regularly and have no power in my body and I lack vitamins and minerals. Some people tell me that I have bad breath due to lack of vitamins and minerals that I lost due to masturbation. Is it true and if it is true then I ask you some remedy. Pls give me advices. I also lost my hair and I don't have power in my body. Help me with advice.

BDS, MDS - Periodontics, Ph.D.
Dentist, Pune
Masturbating in this age is normal. There is no relation of masturbating and losing vitamins. If you have issues with bad breath, get your teeth and gums cleaned by a periodontitis. You can also start taking multi-bs vitamins eg. Tab A to Z 60 tabs once daily.

I am 28 years old. I underwent Tongue tie release surgery 3 days ago. It has not recovered yet. I still have pain when I move my tongue. Pain is at the place where the surgery was performed (lower art of tongue). How long does it take to recover fully? I am also getting mild fever because of pain I guess. Please suggest.

Dentist, Lucknow
Not to worry it takes about five to seven days to fully recover you may rinse with warm salt water n use a mouth wash after every intake.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Sir, is it useful to have fixed teeth transplantation. My age is about 46

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS, MFDS RCPS (Glasgow)
Dentist,
Sir, I assume you are talking about dental implants. If you are, it is perfectly possible to get fixed teeth at any age, but the decision is made only after a thorough clinical and, as necessary, radiological and laboratory evaluation. As far as the question of usefulness goes, you have to weigh the probable benefits over the potential risks associated with the technique. You need to weigh all the available options for replacement against each other, as well as against no treatment, and then come to a conclusion on the issue. Regards

We can't say whether your pain will not occur for two weeks or any particular duration. But these medicines will surely help in reducing the symptoms. Usually 3-5 days course of medicine will not give major side effects but its not advisable to continue the medicines for 2 weeks. I suggest you to go for treatment as this will take hardly 1 hour and later sittings can be given after exams if required.

this condition develops due to poor oral hygiene. deposition of plaque and calculus around teeth cause gum infection which becomes aggressive when body defence is low. visit a periodontist for your proper treatment. first of all you need to get your teeth professionally cleaned. you can use antibiotic mouth rinses twice a day. brush twice a day with soft bristle brush. rinse your mouth after every meal.

Already 2. 3 teeth r not in a good condition.
Once there is a cavity/ hole/ decay in ir teeth, they cannot b reversed back to its good health by usi g any kind of home remedies or any kind of toothpastes. It requires definitive treatment n intervention by dentist like filling of teeth after cleaning the decay. If the decay is extensive n the tooth nerve is affected, rct n capping 'll b done by dentist. The tooth is removed if the decay tooth cannot be saved by dentist n is replaced by artificial tooth later on. Visit a dentist to get ur tooth evaluated n get treated accordingly.

I brush daily twice a day, still my teeth are yellowish. What should I do?

BDS
Dentist,
There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including: -foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables -tobacco use. Smoking or chewing tobacco can stain teeth -poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing to remove plaque and stain-producing substances like coffee and tobacco can cause tooth discoloration. -medications- mouth rinses and washes containing chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chloride can also stain teeth. Antihistamines (like benadryl), antipsychotic drugs, and drugs for high blood pressure also cause teeth discoloration. You can go for bleaching if you want bright white teeth. It will help definietly.

What habits can wreck my teeth?

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist,
Crunching, Sucking, and Sipping You slurp down an ice-cold soda or iced tea and then crunch, crunch, crunch the leftover ice. What's the harm? The brittleness and cold temperature of ice cubes can actually cause teeth to fracture. They can cause microscopic cracks in the surface of the enamel, which could lead to bigger dental problems over time. Crushed ice is less harmful than bigger cubes, but it still doesn't get the blessing of most dentists. Right up there with ice cubes are popcorn kernels, which can also put undue stress on a tooth and cause it to fracture. Some people keep the pits of fruit such as peaches, apricots, and plums in their mouth to suck on and then crunch on. Sipping sugary soda throughout the day is another bad habit, research suggests. The constant exposure to sweet and acidic beverages can foster tooth decay. Be mindful of these practices when you eat or drink. Switch to crushed ice in drinks and when eating snacks eat something that’s healthier to chew, such as baby carrots. Sip soda through a straw to minimize soda exposure to your teeth. Be sure the straw is positioned toward the back of the mouth, not resting against your teeth.Whether you grind your teeth during the day, at night, or both day and night, it wears them down. Although teeth grinding can be caused by stress and anxiety, it is more likely caused by an abnormal bite or missing or crooked teeth. Your dentist may suggest wearing a mouth guard for teeth grinding at night. Custom models made by your dentist cost more than over-the-counter ones, but they generally fit better and work better, too. Sometimes, it helps simply to be aware that you are grinding your teeth. If it is caused by stress, consider an exercise program or counseling. You may also want to try cutting back on foods and drinks that contain caffeine; reduce or avoid alcohol consumption; don't chew on pencils or anything else that isn't food; if you notice that you clench or grind your teeth during the day, position the tip of your tongue between your teeth to train your jaw muscles to relax; and, relax your jaw muscles at night by holding a warm washcloth against your cheek, in front of the earlobe. Some people think the firmer the toothbrush, the better. This isn’t so, especially for older adults. With age, the gums push back and the roots of the teeth become exposed, often increasing sensitivity. The root is covered with cementum, which is worn away more easily than enamel. A brush with too-firm bristles may irritate the gums and lead to sensitive teeth.
