7 Reasons to Make You Smile!!

Visiting a dentist can be very daunting. We realize that and hence here are 7 reasons that will surely bring a smile to your face.

So here are the seven reasons to make you smile

#1. No pain, only gain

Dental clinics are no longer the torture chambers they used to be. With modern amenities and warm welcoming interiors you no longer need to be afraid of hospital like settings with scary looking doctors.

#2. Pain anxiety control

We now have advanced equipment that replaces drills, injections and blades, all the instruments that you may have feared in the dental office.

#3. Sleep while getting a root canal

While root canals are the most feared treatments in dentistry, patients today are painlessly treated within a single sitting, so much so that they sleep through most of their treatment.

#4. Walk out with an instant face lift

Getting an instant cleaning and whitening is now as easy as walking in for a 15-45 minute session. So even if you're a last minute person getting that dazzling set before a party or your big day is ever so easy.

#5. Straighten teeth without ugly braces!

If its crooked teeth that are bothering you and you just cant bear the thought of ugly metal braces, the new invisible braces is just the perfect solution to your problem. No one will ever know you have braces! and you will be smiling all along the treatment and have a better smile at the end of it!

#6. No more cavities!

We counsel our patients on how to ensure no more cavities right from diet counseling to establishing oral hygiene habits that'll prevent any future cavities to keep that sweet smiling face always intact!

#7. Fixed teeth for all

We now have the ability of replacing a crippling denture with fixed teeth which maximizes your eating pleasure and increases your self-confidence no matter your age!

Now, you have seven reasons to make you fearless about visiting a dentist like smile essentials.

We're sure once you have done your treatment, you will be smiling more than ever before!

Dental Implants or Dentures - What is Best Suitable for You?

Dental Implants or Dentures - What is Best Suitable for You?

Tooth loss occurs due to various reasons decay and infection, fracture, accidents, gum disease, to name a few. Tooth loss has a negative impact on various aspects facial appearance, chewing efficiency, and overall nutrition. The attempts to restore the lost tooth have led to various advancements from removable dentures to cast partial dentures to fixed dentures to implants.

Listed below are features (covering advantages and disadvantages) of both dentures (fixed and removable) and implants. While dentures can be complete or partial, implants are more often partial, of course can be used to replace multiple teeth. A detailed discussion with your dentist along with oral and radiographic examination will help in making a decision.

Removable Dentures:

Advantages:

  1. Replaces tooth but more for cosmetic reasons than function.

  2. Poor chewing efficiency.

  3. Useful when multiple teeth are to be replaced, especially when no adjacent teeth are available for support.

  4. If good bone support is not available, retention is an issue.

  5. Not very healthy for the underlying jaw bone and adjacent gums.

  6. Requires daily and routine maintenance.

Fixed Denture(s):

Also called as bridges, as the artificial replaced tooth is a bridge between two natural teeth.

  1. Requires removal of sound tooth structure as abutment (support). This is the major disadvantage with fixed dentures, which promoted further work from the dentists, ending up with discovery of implants.

  2. Promotes tooth decay in the adjacent teeth.

  3. Good support, so retention is not an issue.

  4. Not as harmful to the underlying jaw bone as removable denture.

  5. Requires maintenance but not like the removable denture.

  6. Expensive compared to removable dentures.

  7. Replacing a bridge also means the adjacent healthy teeth are affected.

Implants:

  1. Very good replacement alternative, replaces not just the crown structure but also the root structure.

  2. An excellent option when the jaw bones and gums are extremely in good condition.

  3. Almost natural restoration of both chewing efficiency and facial appearance, the person can eat almost anything.

  4. Not as harmful on the gums like dentures.

  5. Does not cause bone loss like dentures.

  6. Can be used to replace single or multiple teeth, where multiple implants are placed and a bridge is placed over them.

  7. The titanium screws that are used fuse with the jaw bone over a period of time.

  8. The titanium is also biocompatible, thereby reducing chances of allergy.

  9. Implants are expensive, and many insurance companies may not cover them.

  10. If properly fabricated and maintained well, then it can last for decades.

The decision to go for a denture or for an implant should be decided based on a detailed evaluation of overall health and if required radiographic examination. Both dentures and implants have advantages and disadvantages, and the dentist will help make the right choice. If you wish to discuss about any specific dental problem, you can consult a specilized dentist and ask a free question.

A wisdom tooth came up on the left side of my lower jaw about two weeks back. It was paining badly and I could hardly open my mouth. I was advised a painkiller tablet and liquid glycerine. After taking that, the pain subsided in about three days and I was able to open my mouth properly. But, all of a sudden, a few days after this, my saliva started tasting bad. I have kind of a metallic taste in my mouth constantly and when that taste is there, my saliva smells bad too. I kind of feel that this taste originates from the left side near the wisdom tooth. But I am not sure whether it's the upper or lower jaw. How do I overcome this condition? Please advise.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Wisdom teeth usually make their appearance between the ages of 17 and 21, though it's possible for them to push through earlier or later. Referred to as your" third molars, these four teeth begin to push through the skin like any other tooth, which can cause pain. However, wisdom teeth are much more likely to grow in at an incorrect angle – even sideways – causing impaction that can radiate this pain to the teeth in front of it.

There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth.

Parents generally ignore milk teeth of their kids as they are not permanent supposing they ll shed after few years. they dont know the significance of milk teeth if they shed too eary bcuz of decay or whatever reasons, there are chances that permanent teeth may come with crowding which leaves esthetic issues when child grows up.. if you are feeding him through bottle at night, you must STOP immediately as kids store milk in their mouth overnight which causes tooth decay . its time to see the dentist immediately

Hi, you can use any fluoridated toothpaste from any company, try and use one with soft bristles. It is not really the brush / paste that decides the cleaning efficiency, but the technique of brushing which ensures clean teeth and healthy gums.
