Darkening of the skin, irregular menses and facial hair is due to pcod causing hormonal imbalance, resulting in the above changes. so have you started any medication for the pcod? let me know so that i can guide you further. becoming plump could be due to uncontroled hypothyroidism, over eating, sedatory life style and lack of sufficient physical activity.knee injury should not be a hinderance to do some physical activity. so concentrate on the above mentioned issues and think of the ways to overcome them. like change your dietary habits. take small frequent meals, keeping the quantity to as small as possible, avoid excessive oil and strictly avoid junk food. for cravings for food you can snack on fruits or vegetable salads etc., if your knee is bothering you while sitting or lying down you can do frequent, regular movements of the limbs and body.basing on your situation you can practice what ever is feasible or you can come back with information enabling me to guide you further. good luck.

Chapped or dry lips are a common problem that can be painful and unattractive. Common symptoms are dryness, redness, cracking, flaking, and tender or sore lips. Some of the main causes are vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction, dehydration, smoking, excessive licking of lips, sun exposure and harsh weather. Castor oil is good treatment for dry and chapped lips. • Simply apply castor oil to your lips several times a day. • You can also make a soothing treatment using one teaspoon of castor oil, one teaspoon of glycerin and a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and apply it on your lips before going to bed. In the morning, wash it off with a cotton ball dipped in lukewarm water. Repeat this daily until your lips are healed. • Homoeopathic LIP BALM ( BAKSON LAB) Apply twice daily

My Dad, 51 years old, is left with very less sensation and muscle power below his knee in the right leg after getting treatment for Deep Vein Thrombosis. He is unable to lift his feet especially the toes and can’t put pressure on it. The current doctor advised that the he needs to take anti coagulants for a long time and there cannot be any more healing of the leg, however I am much optimistic. The muscles below his knee on the back side are very weak and pressing on those muscles makes a pins and needle sensation on toes and below the feet. The clots are also still there, however small. Now he is only taking Pradaxa and folic acid. There is no improvement in his leg condition, he is not able to walk without the foot splint and it is impossible to drive or even walk fast, climb etc. I am very worried and thus searching for a second opinions and any alternative treatment or medicine which can help his condition History of DVT - It started with pain in his left leg two years ago in July 2014 and it got well in around 9 days. After that Doppler test was taken which suggested clotting. After some days excruciating pain started in the right leg through the hip side which shifted to front of the right leg, the whole leg blackened due to clotting. He was rushed to emergency where doctor stabilized him and gave him Acitrom. There was huge blood loss and his veins became very weak. He got referred to a neurologist where NCV test was done along with whole body test. He was prescribed Pradaxa tab. After this there was no movement and sensation below right ankle. The doctor asked him to wear a foot drop splint along with physiotherapy sessions. It would be great help if you can advise on a prognosis or about a treatment if there is one. If you think his condition can be helped I would surely bring my father to the place of your practice. I won't to him to heal and get better not just taking medicines to curb the condition.

Hi. First of all I would like to know if he underwent any surgery for limb blackening. What I can understand is that he developed acute DVT which resulted in compartment syndrome and blackening. This condition may have resulted in ischaemic neuropathy and myopathy. That's y he is having weakness. It's difficult to say whether normal movement and sensations of the affected limb will restore completely. Treatment given is ok. No prob. You need to have patience and wait. Physiotherapy may help.

I having black layer around my neck. What should I do to get rid off this problem?

I having black layer around my neck. What should I do to get rid off this problem?
It is very essential to cleanse and exfoliate neck skin every day just as we do with our faces. When we neglect neck while pampering face, this results in patchy dark skin. So follow this daily care routine for getting rid of dark neck. ? Take milk and rub your neck with it. Milk is an excellent cleanser and a toner too. ? After cleansing, use a scrub, preferably natural one, to exfoliate the skin around your neck. ? You may mix olive oil with sugar and rub gently to scrub your neck. ? Sometimes use another scrub having bleaching agent such as lemon juice. You will find many scrubs here in this article that you can use for daily exfoliation. ? After exfoliating, wash off with water and apply some moisturizer. ? Whenever you go out, apply sunscreen to your neck along with your face. This will avoid pigmentation. ? Never step out in sun when you apply lemon juice on your skin. This will make your neck darker than before. If you follow the above neck care regime daily, you will begin seeing result in a two week?s time. However, do not stop and continue cleansing, scrubbing and moisturizing your skin. Home Remedy Oats is not only good for your overall health but also for your patchy dark neck. As we do not pay more attention towards cleaning our necks while doing every thing for our face- from cleansing, scrubbing, moisturizing and what not ? our neck gets dirty with the oil and fine grit deposits. This makes it look patchy and dark. Oats can be used as a scrub as well as a mask for dark neck when mixed with certain other skin lightening ingredients. Use oats as a scrub for dark neck You will need: ? Oats ? ground it coarsely, do not make fine powder out of it ? Tomato pulp ? Water ? Moisturizer Directions: ? Take the coarsely ground oats powder. ? Mix tomato pulp to it to get a paste like consistency. ? Apply this mixture to your entire neck region. ? Leave it for about 15-20 minutes. ? Now wet your fingers a littles and start rubbing your neck gently in circular motions. The coarse oats will have an exfoliating effect to remove dead skin cells from your dark neck. ? After scrubbing your neck with this natural oats scrub for about 5-7 minutes, wash off with water. ? Apply some moisturizer on neck and massage gently. You may use this scrub twice or even thrice in a week depending upon the intensity of dark patchy skin on your neck. While oats will remove dirt and dead cells, tomato pulp will lighten the skin due to its natural bleaching properties.

I have black spots on my back. Can you suggest me what can i do?

Ayurveda,
I have black spots on my back. Can you suggest me what can i do?
You need to do two things for this 1. Improve your skin health by having lots of fresh fruits, preferably the red ones like pomegranate, apples. Papaya etc. Completely avoid oily food 2. Regular scrub for your back. You can try this home made scrub - rice powder 10 tsp, orange/lemon peel powder 10 tsp, fenugreek powder 2 tsp. Make a paste apply it over the back. Scrub it using a loofah for about 5 mins and then wash it off.

All About Corns and Calluses

Corns and calluses are defined as thickened and hardened areas of the skin, which are formed due to excess pressure, friction or rubbing in a particular area. They generally form at the bottom of the feet and can cause discomfort and pain while walking. Corns usually form on the sides and tops of toes. There are several variants of corn such as hard corn, soft corn and seed corns. Calluses typically form in areas which undergo high friction. It can appear on hands and feet. Read on to find more about corns and calluses.

Causes
1. In some cases, corns or calluses may form due to improper walking motion but in most cases corns and calluses form due to wearing shoes which fit in an improper manner.
2. High heels in particular are a major reason for the formation of corns and calluses. Other reasons include foot deformities or wearing shoes and sandals without socks.
3. Corns and calluses have a risk of being infected by bacteria which causes the infected region to secrete pus or fluid.

Symptoms
There are different types of corns and calluses and each of them have different symptoms during their formation.
1. A callus is a small patch of dead skin which can form anywhere in the body but usually in places which undergo friction.
2. A hard corn is a patch of hard skin which is located outside the little toe or on top of a toe.
3. A soft corn is a sensitive red patch of skin which is typically found between toes.
4. A seed corn is a painful patch of dead skin which typically forms on the ball of the foot or on the heel.

Treatment
If you have developed a corn or a callus it is advisable to consult a doctor as they can correctly differentiate between warts and calluses. Use of moleskin around the corn or callus usually reduces the pressure from the affected region. Oral antibiotic medication can also be prescribed by your physician. Certain moisturising creams also help treating corns and calluses. Opt for stronger moisturising creams after consulting your doctor if regular ones are not helping. In certain instances corns and calluses may need to be surgically removed.

Bathing with bore water I got black please help me in getting my original color.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Bathing with bore water I got black please help me in getting my original color.
Hello, Use boiled water for bathing instead of bore water. Start taking nutritious, healthy food and daily yoga or some kind of exercises, it will be automatically reflected on your face. Yes, the colour which is inherited from your parents/ ancestors, cannot be changed, but you can try to get glow on your face!! Daily Regime: Apart from these, you do follow CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally sunscreen with SPF-30 – a thick layer of Bakson's Suncare cream may be, 20-30 minutes before going out daily and repeat it's application after every 3-4hrs.) after washing your face daily; use the products as per your skin type. This will change the skin texture and skin tone. In case you do have tanning, apply honey with a dash of lime on your face. Eat right and healthy that too on time, relieve your stress/ tensions, sleep well, stop smoking, as this restricts blood flow to your face and leaves you with a greyish complexion. lead a healthy lifestyle! Apart from this, avoid anger, anxiety, fear which increases stress hormone in the body and subsequently makes your complexion darker! (Hormonal imbalances also plays a major role). If the dull and dark skin tone is due to any underlying ailment or diseases, need to look into the matter. Diet: -Increase your Vitamin C intake (lemon,orange,gooseberry,etc.Fruits/juices, strawberries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and green peas). - Eat more Vitamin A (nonfat milk, oysters, and egg yolks, carrots, watermelon, papaya, tomatoes, or other dark colored produce) . If you feel your skin is weak or not tight enough, that usually suggests a lack of Vitamin A. Medicine: You can also use homoeopathic cream - Medicynth's Whitch Hazel daily at night. Home remedies: Apply fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. After this, rub cucumber slices on your skin to soften and moisturize it. Do this daily or every other day. Another option is squeeze the juice of one-half lemon and mix one to two tablespoons of raw honey in it. Apply it on your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Make a paste of 'Kasturi Manjal' (wild turmeric) with rose petals, saffron and raw milk which is very effective.

Neck may get dark complexion if melanin pigmentation of that area is increased or sometimes when the dead cells of skin on that area are not being removed naturally. * you are advised to destress yourself & wear loose collar shirt which do not compress the blood supply around the neck. Try to avoid sunrays & dust falling on your neck. * mix 1 teaspoon of mustard oil in 3 big spoon of gram flour (besan) & add 1 big spoon of oat flour in it. Make paste of it by adding sufficient quantity of water in it. Apply it on your neck for 10-15 minute. Remove it slowly without washing. This will naturally remove the dead cell of neck which give you a good looking neck area after few application.

It can definitely b treated.Rubbing and scrubbing should be avoided. Do not use any form of wax, creams, blades on it. Do not rub lemon, garlic or any other caustic agent on it. what you can do is use an oatmeal scrub which you can prepare at home using some oat flakes n honey. This vil help reduce the pores and moisturise your skin. Do this twice daily and a month later you can top up this method with some medication which vil bring significant changes.

Ageing skin: Causes and Treatment

Ageing skin: Causes and Treatment

Ageing is the only inevitable truth. However, it does not mean that it has to be reflected on your body. Skin loses collagen as you grow older and collagen is the element in your skin which keeps your skin tight and firm when you are young. Loss of collagen leads to skin sagging.

The causes behind ageing of skin can be both extrinsic as well as intrinsic. The main classifications of the causes are:

  1. Biological: This is an intrinsic factor which relies on the genes of the body and hence, it is out of our control. Naturally, with age, the regenerating capabilities of your body gradually lose pace due to the various hormonal changes that occur over time. A healthy lifestyle can go a long way in helping your skin look as young as possible.
  2. Environmental: Being an extrinsic factor, environmental factors that cause the skin to age can be controlled. Some of these factors, such as pollution, harmful rays of the sun, stress and unfavourable weather conditions are capable of damaging the skin. Sun exposure i.e. exposure to the UV rays of the sun, is deemed to be the primary reason behind skin ageing.
  3. Mechanical: Repeated behaviour over an extended period of time, such as frowning, squinting, smiling, etc., can cause grooves to be formed on the skin. These grooves may be permanent and hence, contribute to ageing skin.

How do you treat it?

A holistic approach is extremely vital for the treatment as well as control of ageing skin. The quality and features of skin differ among individuals and hence, the needs of the skin will vary too. Due to this reason, depending on the skin types and needs of the person, the skin care routine needs to be specialised and focussed.

To facilitate a specialised approach to ageing skin, a thorough analysis would be conducted by the dermatologists to understand what the skin needs and accordingly, diagnose the causes and symptoms of ageing skin. The diagnosis will allow the dermatologist to estimate the severity of the skin problem. This analysis will help the doctors to determine the adequate approach to address the ageing skin. A combination of services and technologies would be recommended based on the analysis. This combination would incorporate methods such as collagen building (with foods such as berries and dark green veggies), micro derma peels and skin tightening, as well as effective home skin care products which can be used to boost the skin’s beauty. The proposed approach would work to fill wrinkles, boost collagen and tighten sagging skin to make the skin look as natural as possible. If you wish to discuss about any specific skin problem, you can consult a specilized dermatologist and ask a free question.
