Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homeopathic medicines are very helpful. They not only treat the acute stages but are also used for the treatment of chronic back pain.Selection of the exact remedy depends upon the individual symptoms of the person. So share the complete symptom picture for the proper treament. In the mean time take Arnica 200, 3 drops in the morning and Rhus tox. 200, 3 drops at night for 7 days.Take care.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a non-contagious common skin condition that causes rapid skin cell reproduction resulting in red, dry patches of thickened skin. The dry flakes and skin scales are thought to result from the rapid buildup of skin cells. Psoriasis commonly affects the skin of the elbows, knees, and scalp.

Causes

Psoriasis can be caused by a variety of reasons. Heredity can be crucial. If one parent is affected, then there is 15% of chances for the child to suffer from psoriasis. If both the parents are affected then the possibility of child getting the psoriasis is 60%. Consumption of opposite foods (such as fish and milk together), trauma on skin like cuts, bruises or burns, some medicines or skin irritants, excessive smoking, alcohol consumption and mental stress or psychological trauma can also be responsible for causing it.

Symptoms

  • Loose silvery scales
  • Itching or burning skin
  • Raised pus-filled skin bumps
  • Skin redness around pustules
  • Restricted joint motion
  • Emotional distress
  • Skin pain and inflammation
  • Skin blisters
  • Dry skin patches
  • Bleeding skin patches

Ayurvedic View

According to Ayurveda, Psoriasis appears due to imbalance of two doshas - Vata and Kapha . Vata and Kapha doshas manifest in the skin and cause accumulation of toxins. These toxins accumulate in deep tissues like rasa (nutrient plasma), rakta (blood), mansa (muscles), and lasika (lymphatic). These toxins cause contamination of deeper tissues, leading to Psoriasis.

Purification of blood and tissues is the primary aim of Ayurvedic treatment in cases of Psoriasis. Toxins are cleansed from the body and the digestion restored to prevent further accumulation. Nourishing herbs are then administered to strengthen and tone the tissues to promote complete healing of the skin.

Diet & Lifestyle Advice

  • Avoid consuming opposite foods.
  • Do not control natural urges like vomiting, urination, bowels, etc.
  • Do not take cold water bath immediately after a heavy workout, traveling, a long walk, etc.
  • Take care not to consume foods which cause indigestion.
  • Absolutely do not eat too much of salty, sour or acidic foods.
  • Avoid sleeping in afternoons.
  • Say no to radish, sesame, jaggery (gur), curds, fish and other sour foods.

Home Remedies

  • Cover the affected part with a fresh thin banana leaf.
  • Take 15-20 sesame seeds and soak in a glass of water. Keep it overnight and drink on an empty stomach early in the morning.
  • Take 1-2 cup of bitter gourd juice on empty stomach in the morning. Continue this for 5-6 months. Patient may add a tablespoon of lime juice, if they find it difficult to digest the bitter taste.

Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. Your father has a chronic back pain problem since 2 years and must be evaluated in detail. There are many causes of pain in lower back region. It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with Intervertebral Disc, narrowing of Spinal canal, any Bony instability besides many other , so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy programDepending upon the patient's specific diagnosis and level of pain, the back pain exercises andrehabilitation programs will be very different, so it is important for patients to see a spine specialist trained to develop an individualized program of back exercises and to provide instruction on using the correct form and techniqu. Most of us will suffer from back or neck pain at some stage during our lives. The good news is, however, in most cases the pain is not serious in nature and can be remedied. Postural related back pain generally stems from sitting for long periods with overloaded or tight back and pelvic muscles. For example, if your rear thigh muscles (hamstrings) are tight, when you sit they will pull the pelvis out of position and increase tension on the lower back muscles. This in turn overstretches your back muscles and with lengthy periods of sitting will cause pain. This is one example of many variations of postural related back pain. However, one thing will be in common, progressively developing back pain from long periods of overstretched and overloaded back muscles and ligaments. When you first start to develop postural back pain it manifests itself as a low grade ache which tends to be relieved with light exercise or avoiding sitting. But after a while the pain increases and tends to be there most of the time regardless of what you do. It should be noted that a small percentage of back pain is caused by more serious conditions like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression. Symptoms that suggest a more serious back problem are leg pains, pins and needles or weakness in your leg or foot. These symptoms need to be properly assessed by a Chartered Physiotherapist So what can you so to reduce back or neck pain? Firstly, break the cycle of sitting for long periods by getting up and moving around every 20 minutes or so and by introducing simple movements that can by Done at anytime, even when sitting (see below). Secondly, a daily routine of stretching and relaxing tight thigh (hamstring) and buttock (gluteal) muscles will help to prevent overloading your lower back muscles when sitting. Thirdly, reduce back or neck pain by relaxing the surrounding muscles and ligament by introducing the following routine 2-3 times a day: 1.Apply heat to the back muscles. A shower, massage or hot water bottle works best. This will help to relax the muscles. 2.Release and relax back muscles through massage, use of a tennis ball or foam roller for 5 to 10 minutes twice daily – purchase a foam roller from www. Physiosupplies. Com/exercise/foam-rollers Here is a video of foam rolling on YouTube 3.Apply movement to the lower back muscles using the suggested exercises below. About a minute of each 3 or 4 times a day will help to recover the overloaded lower back muscles. The components of the word'osteoporosis' literally mean'porous bones' -'osteo' is for bones, and'porosis' means porous - helpfully describing this condition that results in reduced bone density and increased fragility of the bones. The thinning of the bones in osteoporosis, combined with the formation of weaker bone crystals, puts people at a higher risk of fall and fractures. It can affect anyone of any gender, but it is particularly prevalent in postmenopausal women due to the sudden decrease in protective oestrogen levels after menopause. Signs and symtom Bone loss that develops slowly, leading to osteoporosis, does not cause any symptoms or outward signs. As such, a patient may only discover that they have osteoporosis due to an unexpected fracture after a minor fall or a slip or strain - or even a simple cough or sneeze - may result in a fracture. Breaks in the spine can lead to altered posture, with compressed vertebrae creating the stooped appearance often seen in older people Diagnosis Osteoporosis may be diagnosed directly through the use of a bone scan that measures bone mineral density (bmd). Central or peripheral dxa. Osteoporosis is diagnosed when the t-score is -2.5 or below.
