I am 57 years old teeth is paining I can't eat & talk properly my lips become cross I am diabetic past 12 years.

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Bhopal
The disease of teeth and gums in which there is bone loss is called periodontitis. It is the sixth complication of diabetes. First consult your physician and check whether you blood sugar is under normal level or not. If sugar is under normal level then start dental treatment. However you can consult a dentist, its better to bring your recent blood sugar investigation, (fasting, pp, glycated hb etc). If your sugar is not under normal values then you will be prescribed some mouthwash and medicines. If there is no emergency then dental treatment can be delayed until your sugar is at normal level.

I have gum bleeding for few months during brushing. I have changed my brush, toothpaste. Consulted doctor. He gave me a gel to use. But, no results. Is there any natural ways to cure it. Is it dangerous? What should I do?

MDS
Dentist, Kota
Professional cleaning along with few medicines will surely help you. There is no natural way as such. But your home care will be able to maintain health throughout life. Can't say its dangerous but its very harmful to your teeth, sooner or later it will cause mobility in your teeth. So better the earlier, consult the dentist.

Oral And Diabetes

Diabetes and Dental Disease : *A two way street*.
Diabetes is a *multifactorial* disease that affect various organ of our body like heart, kidney, eyes and of course not sparing one of the vital organ like mouth including teeth and gums. Teeth and gums are indispensable Do us as we chew our food. Digestion begin in mouth. diabetes affect our oral cavity leads to loosening of tooth, swelling of gums, and also bone loss around the teeth leads to pus pain, discomfort. Researchers have proved diabetes to be a double edge sword means it impairs sugar control & also let our body fail to cope with it.

*Dental Surgeons* play a key role in diagnosing diabetes and also treat the symptoms related to diabetes and also controls sugar through dental treatment.

So diabetic patients warrant urgent referral to *dental surgeons* and get all round treatment of oral cavity.

Remember the notion goes in its way:

"Pain is mandatory but suffering is optional.

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults: we recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

MY UPPER 2 TOOTH WERE REMOVED 2 YEARS BACK & PLACE IS EMPTY. WHAT IS THE BEST CURE & EXPENDITURE EXPECTED SIR?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Don't keep that place empty because nearby teeth will start moving and will close the gap and you will face biting and jaw problem. U can go for dental bridge means artificial teeth unit. Its like cap only but requires support of two adjacent teeth. If u can afford implant is the best option for you that will cost you around 30k

Dear doctors, before listen my disease I want to tell that every doctors takes it very lightly but sometimes come in my mind to commits suicide because of this disease. My disease is oral related: 1. Inside my upper lips always I feels like a stripe and a bit swell also. Its make to uncomfortable. And always has to grope there from my tongue. 2. My other disease is between the both uper middle teeth, gums is swell and its makes me always suck air with help of tongue. Since last two year I am facing this problem. I am 28 year s/w engineer. I went to dentist, skin specialist, general physician. They cleen my teeth, suggest to change tooth brush in every 3 month. And skin docter gives me 3 month medicine and injection also. But no comes with relief. Please help me.

MFDS RCPS (Glasgow), MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi I think the stripe that you feel is probably a normal structure called the frenum. This structure is present in everyone; maybe somewhat more prominent in some people than in others. I would like you to relax and make a conscious effort to avoid probing the area with your tongue. If you can retrain your tongue, this problem should take care of itself. If you are particularly uncomfortable, you can discuss the feasibility of excising the frenum. You will need to see an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for this. As for the other problem, that too could be either an unusually pronounced frenum extending between the two upper incisors, or probably another normal structure called the incisive papilla. If its the former, the fenum excision should take care of this as well. If it is the latter, the options are somewhat restricted, as outright excision may be less feasible.

Rigt side upper wisdom teeth partially gone. No ache. I do not want to extract that. Can it be filled or put a cap on it?

A.C.C.I - Accredited and Certified Course in Implantology, MDS - Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, BDS
Dentist, Jammu
Dear, If the wisdom tooth can be RCT treated and re constructed to allow you put chewing loads on the same we can save it. But, if it is not salvagable it is better to have the same extracted before it damages the adjacent teeth and shorten its life span too.
