Nocturnal Leg Cramps

Nocturnal Leg Cramps

Is there anything I can do on my own to feel better? — yes. Things you can try include:

●riding a stationary bike for a few minutes before bed – if you normally get little exercise, this might help.

●doing stretching exercises

●wearing shoes with firm support, especially at the back of your foot around your heel

●keeping bed covers loose at the foot of your bed and not tucked in

●drinking plenty of water, especially if you take diuretics. (do this only if your doctor or nurse has not told you to limit the amount of water you drink.)

●limiting the amount of alcohol and caffeine you drink

●staying cool when you exercise, and not exercising in very hot weather or hot rooms

If you get a cramp, slowly stretch the cramped muscle. To prevent more cramps, you can try:

●walking around or jiggling your leg or foot

●lying down with your legs and feet up

●taking a hot shower with water spraying on the cramp for 5 minutes, or taking a warm bath

●rubbing the cramp with ice wrapped in a towel

Should I see a doctor or nurse? — see a doctor or nurse if:

●you wake up several times a night with leg cramps

●your cramps keep you from getting enough sleep

●your cramps are very painful

●you have cramps in other parts of your body, such as your upper back or belly

Are there tests I should have? — probably not. Your doctor or nurse will talk with you about your symptoms and do an exam to find out what could be causing your nighttime leg cramps. Depending on your symptoms and exam, you might also need some blood tests.

How are nighttime leg cramps treated? — treatment is different for everyone. Most people have to try a few different things before they find a treatment that helps them.

Treatment options include:

●making lifestyle changes – for example, exercising differently, doing stretching exercises, wearing shoes with good support, or drinking enough fluids

●taking supplements – supplements are pills, capsules, liquids, or tablets with minerals or vitamins your body needs. Tell your doctor or nurse about any minerals, vitamins, or herbal medicines you already take.

●stopping any medicines you take that could cause cramps. But do not stop taking any medicine unless your doctor or nurse says it is ok.

●medicines - taking prescription medicines that improve sleep, relax muscles, calm overactive nerves, or help in other ways. Doctors and nurses prescribe medicines for nocturnal leg cramps only when other types of treatment do not work.

What if my child gets nocturnal leg cramps? — nocturnal leg cramps are common in children. Talk to your child's doctor or nurse if your child:

●has leg cramps often

●cannot sleep well because of leg cramps

Nocturnal leg cramps can run in families. Tell your doctor or nurse if someone else in your family also has nocturnal leg cramps.

What are nocturnal (nighttime) leg cramps? — nighttime leg cramps cause pain and sudden muscle tightness in the legs, feet, or both. The cramps can wake you up from sleep. They can last for many minutes or just a few seconds.

Nighttime leg cramps are common in both adults and children. But as people get older, they are more likely to get them. About half of people older than 50 get nighttime leg cramps.

What causes nighttime leg cramps? — most nighttime leg cramps do not have a cause that doctors can find. When doctors do find causes, the causes can include:

●having a leg or foot structure that is different from normal – for example, having flat feet or a knee that bends in the wrong direction

●sitting in an awkward position or sitting too long in one position

●standing or walking a lot on concrete floors

●changes in your body's fluid balance

this can happen if you:

•take medicines called diuretics (also called" water pills")

•are on dialysis (a kind of treatment for kidney disease)

•sweat too much

●exercising

●having certain conditions – for example, parkinson disease, diabetes, or low thyroid

●being pregnant – some pregnant women do not have enough of the mineral magnesium in their blood. This can cause leg cramps.

●taking certain medicines

घुटनों में दर्द कमजोर हड्डी के कारण या उम्र बढ़ने की वजह से भी महसूस हो सकता है. अन्य सामान्य कारण जैसे फ्रैक्चर, लिगामेंट में चोट, मेनिसकस में चोट, गठिया की वजह से घुंटने की हड्डियों का अकड़ जाना और एक जगह से दूसरी जगह खिसक जाना, ल्यूपस और अन्य पुरानी बीमारियों के कारण घुटनों में दर्द हो सकता है. आइए घुटनों में होने वाले दर्द को दूर करने के उपाय जानें.
नींबू है उपयोगी
नींबू में मौजूद सिट्रिक एसिड यूरिक एसिड क्रिस्टल के लिए एक द्रावक की तरह काम करता है जो कि कुछ प्रकार के गठिया का कारण होता है. इसका इस्तेमाल करने के लिए एक या दो नींबू को छोटे-छोटे टुकड़ों में काट लें. कॉटन के कपडे में इन टुकड़ों को बाँधकर तिल के तेल में डुबायें और इस कपडे को प्रभावित क्षेत्रों पर दस मिनट तक लगाकर रखें.
ठंडे बैग का इस्तेमाल
घुटने में दर्द होते समय ठंडे बैग का इस्तेमाल करें इससे आपकी सूजन और दर्द दूर होंगे. इससे रक्त वाहिकाएं सिकुड़ जाएंगी, प्रभावित क्षेत्रों पर रक्त का प्रवाह कम होगा और इससे सूजन को भी दूर करने में मदद मिलेगी. मुट्ठीभर बर्फ लें और उसे किसी तौलिये या कपडे में लपेटकर रख दें. 10 से 20 मिनट के लिए प्रभावित क्षेत्रों पर तौलिए या कपडे को लगाएं.
सरसों का तेल
आयुर्वेद के अनुसार, गर्म सरसों के तेल से मसाज करने से सूजन दूर होगी, रक्त रिसंचरण में सुधार होगा दर्द दूर होगा. दो चम्मच सरसों के तेल को गर्म कर लें. अब उसमें लहसुन की फांकों को डालें और तब तक गर्म करने जब तक लहसुन भूरा न हो जाये. अब तेल को छान लें और ठंडा होने के लिए रख दें. अब इस गुनगुने गर्म तेल से अपने घुटनों पर मसाज करें.
नीलगिरि का तेल
नीलगिरी के तेल में एनाल्जेसिक या दर्द निवारण गुण होते हैं जोघुटनों के दर्द से रहता दिलाने में मदद करते हैं. इस तेल का ठंडा एहसास गठिया के दर्द में आराम पहुंचाएगा. पांच से सात बूंद नीलगिरी तेल और पुदीने की तेल की बूँदें एक साथ मिला लें. फिर उसमें दो चम्मच जैतून का तेल मिलाएं. इस मिश्रण को सूरज से दूर रखे और किसी अँधेरे वाली जगह पर ढक कर रख दें.
सेब का सिरका
सेब साइडर सिरका जोड़ों में चिकनाई लाता है जिससे दर्द दूर होता है और गतिशीलता को बढ़ावा मिलता है. दो चम्मच सेब के सिरके को दो कप पानी में मिलाएं. इस मिश्रण को अच्छे से मिलाने के बाद पी लें. जब तक दर्द चला नहीं जाता इस मिश्रण को रोज़ाना पियें. इसके अलावा दो कप सेब के सिरके को बाल्टी भर गर्म पानी के मिलाएं. अब इसमें अपने प्रभावित क्षेत्रों को आधे घंटे के लिए डालें रखें. अब इस मिश्रण को घुटनों पर मसाज की तरह इस्तेमाल करें.
हल्दी है लाभदायक
हल्दी में करक्यूमिन मौजूद होता है जिसमें सूजनरोधी और एंटीऑक्सीडेंट गुण होते हैं. ये गुण दर्द को कम करने में मदद करते हैं. हल्दी हीउमाटोइड आर्थराइटिस को कम करता है जो कि घुटने के दर्द का मुख्य कारण है. हल्दी का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए एक कप पानी में एक या आधा चम्मच अदरक और हल्दी को मिलाकर इसे दस मिनट के लिए इसे ही उबालें. अब इस मिश्रण को छानकर इसमें हल्दी को मिलाकर इसे पूरे दिन में दो बार ज़रूर पियें. एक ग्लास दूध में एक चम्मच हल्दी पाउडर मिलाएं. अब इसे शहद के साथ मिक्स करें और पूरे दिन में एक बार ज़रूर पियें.
मेथी का बीज
मेथी के बीज में सूजनरोधी और एंटीऑक्सीडेंट गुण होते हैं जो घुटने के दर्द से राहत दिलाने में मदद करते हैं. इसके अलावा मेथी के बीज प्राकृतिक रूप से गर्म होने के कारण गठिया के मरीजों के लिए बेहद लाभदायक होते हैं. इसके लिए रातभर एक चम्मच मेथी के बीज को भिगोकर रख दें. सुबह पानी को निकाल लें और उन बीजों को चबाएं. इस प्रक्रिया को पूरे दिन में एक या दो हफ्ते तक करें.
लाल मिर्च का करें उपयोग
लाल मिर्च में कैप्साइसिन मौजूद होता है जो दर्द निवारक की तरह काम करता है. कैप्साइसिन के प्राकृतिक एनाल्जेसिक या दर्द से राहत देने के गुण गर्माहट पैदा करते हैं और घुटनों के दर्द को दूर करते हैं. आधे कप गर्म जैतून के तेल में दो चम्मच लाल मिर्च मिलाकर इस पेस्ट को प्रभावित क्षेत्रों पर एक हफ्ते तक रोज़ाना पूरे दिन में दो बार ज़रूर लगाएं. इसके अलावा आप एक चौथाई या एक चम्मच लाल मिर्च को एक कप सेब के सिरके में मिलाएं. अब एक कपडा लें और उसे इस मिश्रण में भिगोएं और प्रभावित क्षेत्रों पर बीस मिनट तक लगाकर रखें.
अदरक
अदरक में सूजनरोधी गुण मौजूद होते हैं. अदरक घुटनों की सूजन और दर्द को कम करने में मदद करता है. इसके लिए ताज़ा अदरक को सबसे पहले काट लें और उसे फिर क्रश कर लें. अब इन्हें एक कप पानी में क्रश कर लें और दस मिनट के लिए उबलने को रख दें. अब इस मिश्रण को छान लें और इसमें बराबर मात्रा में शहद और नींबू का जूस मिलाएं.
सेंधा नमक
सेंधा नमक में मैग्नीशियम सल्फेट प्राकृतिक तरीकों से मांसपेशियों को आराम पहुंचाता है जिससे ऊतकों से अधिक तरल पदार्थों को निकालने में मदद मिलती है. गर्म पानी के टब या बाल्टी में एक या आधा कप सेंधा नमक मिलाएं. अब अपने घुटनों को गुनगुने पानी में 15 मिनट के लिए डालें रखें. ह्रदय से सम्बंधित समस्यायों वाले और हाई बीपी और शुगर वाले व्यक्ति इसके इस्तेमाल में सावधाने बरतें.

I have back pain in waist. I am preparing physical for police. When I running every morning pain in my leg muscles below knee. Therefore I stop my running exercise. I have also urinal problem its take more time for urinal and pressure is slow. Is this a problem of sperm. What can I do please help I test my urine but it is normal.

Your back pain seems to be coming from spine and radiating to legs. For your age if pain is limiting to walk more than 100 mtrs then it should be investigated. It may require mri ls spine to rule out disc prolapses in lower lumbar spine. Sometimes the urinary symptoms can be due to disc prolapse. Mri can clear these doubts.

There are lot of causes of back pain may be orthopedic or non orthopedic related. One sided low back and waist pain can be due to muscle strain and also can be due to renal or uretric colic also commonly. If pain is sharp and dos not change with back position its mostly calculi [ stones] orelse it could be a very commom problem ls strain. Needs rest and later low back exercise along with some pain killers.

To start with avoid simple sugars as far as possible like sugar, jaggery, honey, sweets, candies, chocolates, cold drinks etc. 'Eat Out' less, avoid junk and have good quantity of fresh foods which are not processed like fruits, vegetables, soups, salads, nuts, low fat milk, curd etc. Gradually, focus on higher protein intake, lower fat and restrict carbohydrates to high fibre foods only. Combine these dietary changes with 45 mins play/walk / exercise. Its difficult to draft a diet chart here which is tailored to meet your requirements.
