My father is 78 years old and is suffering from diabetic neuropathy. He has this constant pain in both of his legs below knee throughout the day. The pain increases during night which makes him sleepless. I have consulted many doctors but what they prescribe is only painkillers. Do we have any other solution?

Leg Pain If you have leg pain then you have to rule out the causes for having leg pain. First of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there are no issues with the knee joint or back pain. If not if the pain radiates down the back of thigh and legs then it might be due to sciatica. Kindly consult the nearby physiotherapist. Hope you recover soon from the leg pain. Pain in the back while walking and standing Pain in the right leg If you have leg pain pls check your body weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. My suggestion would be to wear MCR Chappals which will help you to prevent the weight falling on the If you have back pain while walking and standing first of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. And also should check whether you have flat foot on the right leg that also might be the reason to have pain in one particular leg Pain in the left side of the leg/thighThe compression of the sciatic nerve should be around the right side that's the reason you have pain in the left side. That's the reason you cannot sit or stand and it is exactly around the L5 vertebrae where the sciatic nerve passes by.

My mother, age 57 years has thyroid problem She is taking medicines since last 2-3 months. She is having issue with taste and smell. She can't get to know real taste of food and also she can't smell anything; no matter how strong the smell is. What could be the possible reasons and possible treatments for it. please guide.

MD - General Medicine, MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
Endocrinologist, Indore
Some loss of taste and smell is natural with aging, especially after age 60. However, other factors can contribute to loss of taste and smell, including: Nasal and sinus problems, such as allergies, sinusitis or nasal polyps Certain medications, including beta blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors Dental problems Cigarette smoking Head or facial injury or mass Alzheimer's disease Parkinson's disease Loss of taste and smell can have a significant impact on quality of life, often leading to decreased appetite and poor nutrition. Sometimes loss of taste and smell contributes to depression. Loss of taste and smell also might tempt you to use excess salt or sugar on your food to enhance the taste — which could be a problem if you have high blood pressure or diabetes Please do consult your doctor who should be able to help her with the problem.

Please suggest. Migraine k liye kaun si medicine best rehti hai mere husband ki age 30 years.

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MD - Anaesthesiology , PDCC - Pain Management
Pain Management Specialist,
Migraine usually occurs due to some stress factors. These factors may include: - fasting / staying hungry for long periods / irregular eating schedule - prolonged exposure to hot climate/sunlight - Exposure to loud noise - emotional outbursts - acidity/gas in few people Identity your stressor and avoid it. This in itself will lead to decrease in frequency of migraine episodes. Treatment for migraine episodes:- Tab. Crocin Pain Relief 1 tab when there is pain - Tab. Brufen 1 tab if headache severe & not controlled with crocin - If you have more than 5 episodes of migraine per month, then preventive treatment is required: Tab. Tryptomer 10 mg at daily bed time - Also, before starting any treatment, make sure it is migraine only and nothing else. Other causes of headache should be ruled out like, High BP, Decreased Eyesight etc.

My Dad is suffering from Sleep Apnea and Snoring, please suggest something. He has already taken CPAP Machine but Dr. also suggested for Operation, so I just want to ask whether Operation is safe or should he continue using CPAP? And how much operation costs?

My Dad is suffering from Sleep Apnea and Snoring, please suggest something. He has already taken CPAP Machine but Dr....
It depends upon BMI of the pt. If the pt is very obese and he is okay with cpap. I ll recommend you to continue that. Before operation you need to undergo following tests sleep study drug induced sleep endoscopy these tests reveals which is the site for snoring. After these tests we ll decide the treatment. Normally we do a operation called UVPP. Cost varies from hospital minimum 50k.

My age is 26. I do not take alcohol. My hands feel weak when I feel any kind of disturbance in mind-excited, angry, nervous. Side by side, tightness in fingers is felt by me and fingers become shaky. In normal situations also, when I join fingers, they start to shake. As soon as I feel tightness, I become more nervous about what people will say and it increases. What are it's reasons? How it can be solved?

Take ashwagandha it is a well known adaptogen and can help reduce your anxiety. Ashwagandha can be taken in the form of powder, or Ghana vati, arishta etc Also get a basic preventive health check done to rule out any abnormalities. If you still find it difficult meet a counsellor who can work along with you till you are fine.

If not eating salads properly then eat them. I think you had values of d3 and b12 lower normal range. Take these supplements too.

For good sleep, just try out these simple ways - 1. Stick to a sleep schedule- Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Try to limit the difference in your sleep schedule on weeknights and weekends to no more than one hour. Being consistent reinforces your body's sleep-wake cycle. If you don't fall asleep within about 20 minutes, leave your bedroom and do something relaxing. Read or listen to soothing music. Go back to bed when you're tired. Repeat as needed. 2. Pay attention to what you eat and drink - Don't go to bed hungry or stuffed. In particular, avoid heavy or large meals within a couple of hours of bedtime. Your discomfort might keep you up. Caffeine deserve caution, too. 3. Create a restful environment - Avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens just before bedtime. Consider using room-darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs. Doing calming activities before bedtime, such as taking a bath or using relaxation techniques, might promote better sleep. 4. Limit daytime naps - Long daytime naps can interfere with nighttime sleep. If you choose to nap, limit yourself to up to 30 minutes and avoid doing so late in the day. 5. Include physical activity in your daily routine - Regular physical activity can promote better sleep 6. Manage worries - Try to resolve your worries or concerns before bedtime. Stress management might help. Start with the basics, such as getting organized, setting priorities and delegating tasks. Meditation also can ease anxiety. Identifying and treating any underlying causes can help you get the better sleep you deserve. If above things doesn't help you, then consult us for homeopathic medicines.

Can a patient undergo kidney transplantation at the age of 72, diabetic and underwent CABG. What will be the success rate if we go for brain dead or accident case.

Hello dear lybrate-user, Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly. Can undergo kidney transplantation after discussion of anesthesia risk with the doctor success rate depends upon multiple factors after evaluation of the patient, not possible with 2 line data As a personal opinion, if patient condition is settle under medications, I do not recommend kidney transplant at 72 years. Hope this clears your query. Wishing him fine recovery.
