Hypothyroidism - Know Its Homeopathic Remedies!

Hypothyroidism refers to the lack of thyroid hormones in your body. Hypothyroidism is caused when the thyroid gland of your body is unable to produce the thyroid hormones like T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). Hypothyroidism can occur due to the inflammation of the thyroid gland or as a result of previous thyroid treatments, where a major portion of the thyroid producing cells has been removed. Hypothyroidism is more common in women. But, it can develop in any person irrespective of age or sex.

The symptoms of hypothyroidism are as follows:

  1. Fatigue
  2. Increased feeling of cold
  3. Dryness of skin
  4. Constipation
  5. Depression
  6. Obesity
  7. Increased blood cholesterol level
  8. Your muscles may be become weak and you may suffer from muscle pain
  9. Disruption in menstrual cycle

Though these are the common symptoms, but it may vary from person to person. Hypothyroidism is a very common problem and homeopathy offers a very safe, painless and effective treatment for hypothyroidism.

Homeopathic Treatment For Hypothyroidism

Homeopathy is best holistic therapy for hypothyroidism. Homeopathic medicines have been known to correct the imbalance in the thyroid hormones in a very mild and subtle manner.  The homeopathic medicines for hypothyroidism are purely natural in origin and have no side effects at all. They are able to improve the functioning of the thyroid gland permanently. Once cured, one has no need to take medicines and can live a disease free as well as medicine free life.

Doses-

There are excellent remedies in homeopathy for the patients suffering from hypothyroidism symptoms. The homeopathic remedies are prepared from a wide range of substances such as the vegetables, herb, mineral, chemicals and animal products in extremely minute. The homeopathic remedy selected will be based on all the symptoms of the patient including physical, mental and emotional states and family history of the patient.

Homeopathic remedies stimulate the body’s own immune system and offer a long lasting cure rather than giving temporary relief.

There are two ways to treat hypothyroidism-

  1. Supplement body with external thyroid hormone
  2. Administer medicines that could stimulate the thyroid gland

The conventional method is to supplement the hormone. But the problem here is that the body gets used to it and stops producing its own hormone in desired quantity.

In case of homeopathic treatment, it tries to stimulate the gland to make it produce normal production of hormone.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the quer. Since you have started taking Thyroxine only 10 days back, there will be no change in TSH. It takes more than 4 weeks for TSH levels to show the effect. So do not change the dose. Check TSH level after at least 6 weeks then check. If level is down to about 3 to 4 mU/L, then continue the same dose. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism - 8 Tips To Manage It!

Hypothyroidism - 8 Tips To Manage It!

If you are suffering from hypothyroidism, it is important for you to deal with the condition so that your daily life and activities do not get affected. Hypothyroidism occurs when your thyroid gland becomes under active and does not produces sufficient amount of hormones. This affects the metabolism rate of your body. Hypothyroidism has several symptoms which include fatigue, constipation, dry skin, muscle cramping, hoarse voice, depression, sudden gain of weight and brittle hair and fingernails.

Here are some important tips which you should follow in order to deal with hypothyroidism and for its treatment:

  1. Go Gluten and A1 Casein free: Common allergies and food intolerance, which occur today are because of wheat and dairy products because of the hybridized proteins of A1 casein and gluten. These may lead to a leaky gut, as a result of which inflammation of the thyroid gland takes place. This affects the thyroid’s functioning. You should avoid grain and gluten in your diet. Try to consume dairy products coming from A2 cow’s milk.
  2. Avoid BPA: Bisphenol A or BPA is present in plastic bottles. These are capable of disrupting the endocrine system and also affect the thyroid gland. You should avoid drinking from plastic bottles and drink water from glass, stainless steel and plastic bottles which are BPA free.
  3. Check your iodine levels: In case your iodine levels are low, you should use an organic liquid supplement. Kelp is ideal for this purpose.
  4. Heavy metal detox: You need to detoxify your body and eliminate traces of harmful metals from your organs and cells. For this, you may use a combination of milk, turmeric, chlorella, cilantro and thistle, which are ideal for a metal detox.
  5. Increase your selenium intake: It is important for you to consume sufficient amounts of selenium in your everyday diet, but you should not consume them in excess. You should eat food items containing selenium in good amount such as salmon, sunflower seeds, Brazil nuts, mushrooms, onions and beef.
  6. Take adaptogen supplements: You should lower your cortisol levels and improve thyroid functioning by taking supplements such as tulsi and ashwaganda.
  7. Remove silver fillingsIf you have amalgam fillings, you should consult a dentist and get the fillings removed.
  8. Lower your carbohydrate intake: You also need to reduce the amount of sugar and grains in your regular diet. Instead, take healthy fats. Consuming too much carbohydrates leads to increased estrogen, which affects thyroid negatively. Choose healthy fats like coconut oils, avocado, wild salmon, hemp seeds and flax seeds. These will help in balancing your hormone levels.

Hypothyroidism usually occurs from common causes such as toxicity due to radiation and metal exposure, deficiency of iodine and selenium, food intolerance and hormonal imbalance due to stress and excess carbohydrates.

What Are The Symptoms and Treatment for Coronary Artery Disease?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology

What Are The Symptoms and Treatment for Coronary Artery Disease?

Your heart is the most important and vital organ of all and regulates the flow of heart to all parts of the body. Thus, the valves and the arteries which take the blood to your heart are also an important component in ensuring that the circulation is constant. Thus, any hindrance to this process will put a lot of pressure on your heart and lead to more serious problems in the long run. Coronary artery disease is one such problem and can seriously put the health of your heart at risk.

What is coronary heart disease?
Coronary arteries are very important blood vessels, which carry nutrients, blood and oxygen to your heart. If the level of bad cholesterol is high in your blood, it will start leaving deposits on the walls of the arteries which are commonly known as plaque. This plaque will start building up over time causing blockage of the arteries and disrupting proper blood flow. Excessive build up of the plaque may then rupture the lining of the plaque. This will then induce blood clotting and further prevent the normal flow of blood.

Symptoms
Primary symptoms may include

  1. Shortness of breathThis may occur while you are exercising or performing activities which are mildly exerting.
  2. Heart beats very hard and fast: Your heart may beat very hard and fast, especially when doing everyday activities such as climbing stairs or walking for a prolonged distance.
  3. Angina or chest painYou may experience pain in your chest as if someone was pressing against it with a lot of force. Angina is also triggered due to stressful activities or even emotional stress. It usually occurs on the left or the middle of the chest and may even be felt in the back, arms, and neck.
  4. Heart attackHeart attacks are the most common and the most serious complications of coronary heart disease. You would feel extreme pain, akin to crushing on your chest, shoulder, or arm. It may even be accompanied by jaw pain, and sweatiness.

Treatment
Non invasive forms of treatment are always preferable rather than invasive surgeries or procedures to treat coronary heart disease, especially where the risk of serious complications such as heart attack are still on the lower side. Some of the treatments used for coronary heart disease are as follows:

  1. Making lifestyle changes: Quit smoking, reduce alcohol consumption along with consumption of regulated diet will automatically start cleaning plaque that has built up within the arteries. Losing weight also tends to help.
  2. Medications: Special medications can take care of cases wherein the deposits are still lesser and the plaque buildup can be removed without the requirement of extensive surgery. Anti-cholesterol medications are one example of this.
  3. Surgical procedures: These are usually employed when the blockage is severe and cannot be corrected by the conventional methods mentioned above. Some of the procedures are angioplasty, stent placement, as well as coronary artery bypass surgery.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism if well in control with adequate dosage of thyroxine, then there will be no problem in getting pregnant. However, when one is on treatment it is necessary to maintain TSH between 3 to4 mU/L for bring free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Therefore with TSH 67 mU/L, you will have to increase the dosage of thyroxine by 12.5 mcg per day and then check TSH level after 6 weeks to see if desired level is reached or not. For proper ovulation and getting prgnent it is necessary to maintain TSH < 2 mU/L. That is when you are considering getting conceived. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Please tell whether TSH 60 mU/L value shown is with thyronorm 100 mcg or is it before beginning of the treatment? Because when on treatment with adequate dosage of Levothyroxine, TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. Your TSh value is too high, suggesting uncontrolled hypothyroidism. Plus your USG report talks of multinodular goiter. That needs to be observed periodically. Plus the antibody titre is also very high, suggesting an autoimmune problem. As regards BP, when on appropriate treatment it should be maintained around 120 to 130 /70 to 80 mm Hg. That also needs to be properly treated. If hypothyroidism is not well controlled it does cause depressive tenancy in some persons. If you have any further doubts please come back in a private conversation (paid consultation), where I will be able to give specific guidelines plus prescriptions if needed. As in this communication we are supposed to give only general guide lines, no prescriptions are allowed. Or please consult a local endocrinologist / physician. Do not neglect. Thanks.

So my suggestion is please come back with exact test results like T3, T4 & TSH values, then I will be able to understand. For all thyroid related conditions there are specific treatments available, which can help in better control. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When one is treatment with adequate dose of thyroxine TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Therefore, with TSH 5.77 mU/L, you may need to increase by another 12.5 mcg per day. Then check TSH after 6 weeks. Thanks.

Hi mam, I have hypothyroidism tsh level is 7.54. I heard from many people in pregnancy if have thyroid means. Will get abnormal baby. Is this true? Please tell me.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With TSH 7.54 mU/L, you have sub-clinical hypothyroidism. This usually does not need any treatment. However, if you want to become pregnant then TSH level needs to be brought down to 2 to 3 mU/L. During pregnancy recommended levels are: 1st trimester: 0.1 to 2.5 mU/L, 2nd trimester: 0.2 to 3 mU/L & 3rd trimester: 0.3 to 3 mU/L. If levels are mot maintained in this range, then fetal development is affected plus pregnancy outcome is also not as desired. At present TSH level (7.54 mU/L) unless there are troublesome symptoms associated with hypothyroidism there is no need for treatment. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland is under active and does not produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormones required in the body. The most cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is an auto immune disorder in which the antibodies are produced by the immune system against its own tissue, which in turn attacks the thyroid gland resulting in hypothyroidism.Severe Iodine defficiency can also lead to hypothyroidism . Natural Homeopathic remedies for hypothyroidism are highly effective and especially useful for people who want to avoid the side effects of prescription drugs. Top Homeopathic Remedies for Hypothyroidism Calcarea carb , Sepia ,Lycopodium, Graphites and Nux Vomica are the leading homeopathic remedies for hypothyroidism The normal range of TSH levels is 0.4 to 4.0 milli-international units per liter. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects exact cause of fissured tongue isn't known. However, researchers believe it may occur as a result of an underlying syndrome or condition, such as malnutrition, infection. Since fissured tongue is often seen in families, the condition may also be genetic.
