Dissociation identity disorder (did), previously known as multiple personality disorder (mpd) is a mental disorder characterized by at least two distinct and relatively enduring identities or dissociated personality states that alternately show in a person's behavior, accompanied by memory impairment for important information not explained by ordinary forgetfulness.
Let me explain this in a simple way.
Example 1- lets say there is Mr. X and Mr. Y. Mr. X is very impressed by the personality of Mr. Y. So he starts liking him. He also tries to sepnd more time with him. He may with time start copying him or seek his help. This problem become so severe that after some time, in a flash Mr. X wakes up and become a copy of Mr. Y. However Mr. X cannot forget that he is actually Mr. X and not Mr. Y. Thus, Mr. X has developed a split personality where he and Mr. Y co exist. This may with time lead to further mental health deterioration such as depression, loss of memory, personality changes, mania, psychosis, antisocial behavior and above all a loss of control and insight in ones life.
Example 2- Mr. X may not be impressed with Mr. Y. But here it's the reverse. Mr. Y is impressed by Mr. X and wants to be a part of Mr. X s personality. He forces himself on Mr. X until he becomes a part of Mr. X. Therefore Mr. Y has been successful in forcing himself on Mr. X although Mr. X wanted to distance himself form Mr. Y but could not due to various reasons.
Example 3- this problem does not need to be confined to just 2 people. Any number of people can force themselves on Mr. X depending on his plotters and schemers. Therefore Mr. X loses his mental health and his personality becomes broken into several pieces which have been thrust on him.
Some people tend to do this voluntarily because of the fact that they like Mr. Y possessions but in most cases people are victimized into this as they are struggling to make ends meet in their lives. The result is agony, despair, loss of self control. An annihilating world and an end full of shame and contempt because of loss of control depending on how erroneous Mr. Y and his associated are.
Many marriages have been broken because of their spouses developing mpd. Spouses who were happy with each other, suddenly turn hostile and throw them out of their lives because they are now possessed with Mr. Y s who are interested in other spouses than their own. Many children also loose their parents love and care because their parents are no longer interested in them and they desert them or send them to boarding schools.
This disease is a social evil and a menace to a justful society. But the stress on taking precaution lies with us.
People diagnosed with did often report that they have experienced severe physical and sexual abuse, especially during early to mid-childhood, and others report an early loss, serious medical illness or other traumatic event. They also report more historical psychological trauma than those diagnosed with any other mental illness. Severe sexual, physical, or psychological trauma in childhood has been proposed as an explanation for its development; awareness, memories and emotions of harmful actions or events caused by the trauma are removed from consciousness, and alternate personalities or sub-personalities form with differing memories, emotions and behavior.
As of 2011, approximately 250 cases of did in children have been identified,
Problems with diagnosis
People with did are diagnosed with five to seven comorbid disorders on average much higher than other mental illnesses. Due to overlapping symptoms, differential diagnosis includes schizophrenia, normal and rapid-cycling bipolar disorder, epilepsy, borderline personality disorder, and asperger syndrome. Delusions or auditory hallucinations can be mistaken for speech by other personalities. Persistence and consistency of identities and behavior, amnesia, measures of dissociation or hypnotizability and reports from family members or other associates indicating a history of such changes can help distinguish did from other conditions. A diagnosis of did takes precedence over any other dissociation disorders.
Common treatment methods include an eclectic mix of psychotherapy techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy hypnotherapy and medications can be used for comorbid disorders and/or targeted symptom relief. Some behavior therapists initially use behavioral treatments such as only responding to a single identity, and then use more traditional therapy once a consistent response is established. Brief treatment due to managed care may be difficult, as individuals diagnosed with did may have unusual difficulties in trusting a therapist and take a prolonged period to form a comfortable therapeutic alliance. Regular contact (weekly or biweekly) is more common, and treatment generally lasts years not weeks or months. Sleep hygiene has been suggested as a treatment option,
Individuals diagnosed with did may accuse others of abuse but lack objective evidence and base their accusations solely on regular or recovered memories. There are questions regarding the civil and political rights of alters, particularly which alter can legally represent the person, sign a contract or vote. Finally, individuals diagnosed with did who are accused of crimes may deny culpability due to the crime being committed by a different identity state.

Hello, I am 30 years old and I am dealing with a kind of weak memory problem since some months. The main problem it seems to me is I forget the things which I read and can't keep it in the brain for a longer period, this leads to repetitive reading. Is this because of that reason. Can you suggest please some solutions for it? So that I can recover my brain activity as normal like before.

Some people approach medical professionals seeking help for substance addictions. Most of them are deeply engrossed in their addictions and cant bear the thought of coming out of it. Althought it may be hampering their functioning in day to day life in a gross manner. Most of them are looking for quick fix solutions because their system is so dysfunctional by constant abuse.
Why quick fix solution. Because they want to get rid of the consequnces of their habits in an instant and feel like as if they have never abused any substance which has built up toxicity in their body to such an extent that they have become dysfunctional. so they feel someone elses, blood or other organs can completly absolve them of the past toxin buid up.
Abusers have to remember one basic thing. You cannot burden the soul of another person for your mistakes no matter who you are. You cannot subcontract your karma to others. Your karma is for you to resolve and deal with. Attacking unconsenting donors to build your karma is a ignorants delusion for paradise.
Be honest to yourself. Admit you have a problem. Seek help not to sublet your karma but take it in your own hands and build it urself. There is no such things as saints who will clean you of your sins. why look for saints who can do nothing for you when you are the only one for your road to heaven. If you transgress this basic principle you can seek worldly pleasures for some time but the consequences are imminent and disastrous.
Remember, change always comes from within. Not from healers, or saints or angels or saintly doctors. If you cannot change urself nobody except god can and please stop seeking god in people

These days I come across a lot of people who are contemplating changing their professions. I have seen a lot of software engineers, doctors and other professionals thinking about going into professions such as farming, agriculture, painting, arts, business etc. Is it possible for these middle-aged professionals to change their careers midway in their life into a field where they have no training or exposure? will it have any impact on their mental and psychological wellbeing in trying to leave behind all their experience and hard work in moving to an area where they have to begin their new careers from the scratch?
What are the issues that lead to these complications.
Misjudged choices- many youngsters have a glorified image of many professions but are really not aware of the ground realities once it actually comes to taking up and working in a particular profession. Most of the time the youngsters do not have access to any professionals they wish to take up and hence have no good understanding or idea of how their choice of profession particularly works when it comes to making it a career.
Lack of good employers- in a world where the yearly revenues and profits are more important than the employee, there is not really much hope when it comes to employees priorities and satisfaction irrespective of his abilities and hard work.
Dedicated career choices- many people pick up careers because some of their relative influenced them to take up a particular career and loose interest in that career once they loose that relative or something untoward happens to them. This is an unhealthy state of mind and our careers should be influenced by our aptitude and abilities than on any individual.
Health problems- most careers today are structured in such a way that they yield maximum profit from each employee irrespective of the hazards it poses on their mental and physical wellbeing. In the rush for more money, many employees end up with back pains, hand pains and other body pains apart from mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, mania etc.
Inability to match expectations of employers- with hundreds and thousands of employees competing for a single job anywhere, employers have the liberty to set up standards for the job that only one in a thousand or sometimes even in lakhs can match. This was unlike the previous generation of government employees who worked as per their conveniences. This invariably leads to a lot of psychological problems such as jealousy, hatred, unhealthy competition, rivalry and sometimes even criminal endeavours in trying to be the successful one.
Is it possible to adapt to a new profession? we may think that it is very easy to start a new career because we have problems with the present one. But we should really ask ourselves if we can learn how to learn, practice and become as well versed in the new profession as the old one in which we have spent so much time and effort. Unfortunately due to the frustration many people jump into new endeavours not realizing that it may take decades to even be good enough in the new career.
Exploitation- we should just remember that if we can be exploited in a profession for which we have spent decades training, how easy it will be for the employer to exploit us in a profession we are beginning now!
Draining resources- a second or a changed career usually involves a lot of investment involving money, time and effort. It is quite possible that the result of the second career may end with the same results and frustration as the first career and in the process drains up all the earnings, hard work and experience of the first career. While there are many institutes and counsellors advising you to change careers and acquire new degrees, these usually drain up and wash out all the good out of the first career.
Societal taboos- when the social circle comes to know of a changed career from a software engineer to a farmer, a lot of tongues are going to wag and it is bound to have a psychological impact on the family of the individual changing his profession. This adds to the confusion which would already reach its peak by now. The ridicule and taunting are going to have an adverse impact on the well-being of the second career as well. Questions will be asked as to why you choose the first career or if somebody forced you to choose the first career! nobody who hasn’t worked will understand the stress and problems associated with your career but will rather glorify it as confused and lost the individual.
Fear of failure- while having convincingly given up the first career, people will not hesitate in branding the individual as a failure and will start betting that the second career will meet the same fate and this will constantly play on the psyche of the individual who will eventually end up with multiple failures and be branded as a good for nothing, while everybody will overlook the employment conditions and troubles.
Changing careers with partners- nowadays it's seen that men and women want to change careers to suit their changing partners. While there is no harm in changing careers for a valid reason, just changing your career because your partner has changed doesn't make sense as per your own interests. We must understand that a career is built because of our own efforts and our partners may only be in a support role. Just because the person making your breakfast has changed we cannot go on changing our careers. If it was necessary to change careers with partners nobody would be doing a job he was educated for! we should realize that our careers are gods gift so that we grow closer to his mercy and it has nothing to do with who our partners are. If our partners had the power of god to shower mercy and graciousness on our careers as god does then indeed this concept would have been true. A human who has no control over his own life and death cannot control our careers!
To conclude, psychologically, do not base your career on people around you. You never know the if person you changed your career for may be there after a few years, months or days. If you do want to change your career do it for yourself and for god and not a factor which is transient in itself.
