I have a problem with my voice pitch which changes to higher levels by the end of the day and the throat dries up despite the fact that I drink 3 to 4 litres of water daily. I start my day with Luke warm spiced water. But this problem is persisting. What do you think is the cause of this?

Please get an ENT evaluation done to see if there is any problem with your vocal folds. You should take plain Luke warm water and plain steam inhalation to ease the discomfort.

Hi, technically there are no medication to treat Autism. However, diet control helps in having right nutrition for the child. If you are sure of the diagnosis which will be generally done by a psychologist then plan the rehabilitation with Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, psychologist, to improve sensory motor, behavioural, social and communication skills. Everyone plays an important role. Only when one says "no another professional will not help or would not be required right now" then they are not doing justice to the child. I suggest as a parent take opinion of all the specialist and decide which one makes sense to you as your are the decision maker for the child.

Dear Lybrate User, There are many individuals who can not hear that well, but still can sing song and recite dialogues or songs. There is no one to one correlation. Yes, hearing is required learn singing and exactly copying the dialogue with tone. However, there are other symptoms of not hearing. If you talking about kids who may have hearing problem, then you should see if they respond to name calls, understanding what you say without looking at your face, or asking for repetition. If you think these symptoms are present, then you should get the hearing checked.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, there are various reasons why one would get a high frequency hearing loss. Some of the reasons are undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, listening to loud music on ear phone for long hours, working in a high noisy area, familial hearing loss or any other which may cause damage to neural connection of the hearing. If there is no obvious reasons, then you need to get a differential diagnosis by doing some more tests to check nerves. This suggestion is because hearing will not go down without a reason. Meat the audiologist who tested your hearing. Discuss with them about your concerns about cause.

Dear lybrate-user, Please get a hearing evaluation done by an audiologist, and then get guidance on what are the possible rehabilitation options for your ailment. An audiologist also takes the opinion of ENT if the condition is medically treatable. If medicines or surgery does not help then you may need to consider getting hearing aids which will help you hear. Now a days there are smart hearing devices and its like any other gadget everybody wants to have.

Hi Excessive saliva because of Parkinson's for 2 yrs. She uses tissue paper every minute. How to fix this problem.
Dear lybrate-user, Excessive saliva is a common problem in parkinsons disease. There are medications available for the same. However, medications will reduce the saliva in the mouth making it dry and difficult to chew and swallow food which needs moist environment in the mouth. I suggest you to have a check on her posture, swallowing frequency. Ask her to swallow saliva as much as possible. Use slight inclined position while she is seated.

Dear lybrate-user, 2.5 year age is very young to be diagnosed as having Autism though there are possibilities. It would be great if you could share more information regarding the diagnosis, tests done, and which specialist has done the evaluation. This would give us a clear picture on what to suggest. Meanwhile, spend time with your daughter in more creative way, get to understand her needs, expect nothing, but celebrate everything. This will connect you with your daughter.
