Hello lybrate-user, Your description fits that of Sialorrhea or excessive salivation. Well the causes for this can be several some of which include: cavities infection gastroesophageal reflux pregnancy certain tranquilizers and anticonvulsant drugs exposure to toxins, such as mercury A detailed history will help your doctor define the cause of the problem. Treatment will depend on the cause. If cavities get them restored. If the causes are otherwise then injections may have to be administered. Your doctor will be able to best judge and treat it accordingly. Depending on the cause, increased salivation may resolve with treatment or require close management over time.

Hello lybrate-user, An anesthetic injection is given so that you don't feel pain during the treatment time. If you are scared of injections generally then do request your doctor for a topical spray or gel so as to calm the site down before using the actual injection. This may help you largely if not entirely. About the success of the anesthetic it depends on several factors but if administered correctly using the right type then it is always a success. Also it helps if you are not too tense, to have a smooth experience :)

Please go ahead and get a crown at the earliest. Post RCT treatment the tooth is brittle and does not have a nutrient supply owing to which it is likely to crack, post which the whole purpose of getting a root canal procedure is lost. If your tooth cracks depending on the extent of breakage you might be asked to get the tooth extracted. Also you need to check if a core build up has been done prior to getting a crown fixed. Make sure your crown is at least porcelain with metal (with full porcelain coverage) and not a metal or partial porcelain crown.

Hello lybrate-user (/his guardian) at 11 years old the region of the pain has not been described as to whether it his back teeth. Assuming it is back upper or lower tooth, he might need an x ray for the region and a examination of the area to figure out the cause of the pain and treat the same. To help provide relief at home salt water rinsing is helpful since a prescription will not be possible without a physical examination.
