Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Cigarette contains 4000 plus chemicals which are harmful to human body. These chemicals are capable to cause many problems to human body including cancer. There are mehods like nicotine replacement therapy, usage of nicotine gums etc. But in my opinion you should try online deaddiction therapy. Take care.

I am addicted of tobacco. I want to quit this but I am not able to do. please give me some suggestion and medicine which helps Me on quit tobacco.

It feels like that especially in the first 21 days. But if you persevere you will succeed. Regarding medicines you will need to consult a doctor because it is given on prescription only. When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

6 Ways To Help Your Child's Language Development!

6 Ways To Help Your Child's Language Development!

The role of parents in language development of children is a primary one. Basically, it will be a one way communication as babies will not respond, but that should not deter you from speaking to them. It has been shown that talking to children early on helps them to talk faster and learn more words. The number of words a child hears is directly proportional to the amount of vocabulary he/she will be able to master.

6 ways to help your baby learn speaking:

  1. Let them listen a lot: Children learn speaking by listening first. So more and more words they will listen, so do they will speak. Make sure your child comes in contact with children in the peer group and plays with them as with the help of their friends they can learn many words.
  2. Read a book: You should start reading to your child as early as possible. The type of book is not as important as you may use, various touch and feel books such as graphic novels. Initially, you may start with board books and then move on to picture books and finally to story books. It helps in increasing the child's vocabulary.
  3. Talk as much as you can: Part of a child's ears and brain that respond to sound are developed since birth, so even though talking to your baby may not make much sense, talking to them enhances their development of speech. The infant absorbs the words which facilitates speaking.
  4. Look for cues: If the child is interested in something such as a book or a toy, then engage with the child on that subject. Encourage him/her to ask questions and interact as much as possible. These interactions help in enhancing the child's language skills.
  5. Limit television: Using television to teach vocabulary to your child is not as effective as talking directly. The primary reason is that characters in television do not react to your child's cues. This does not allow the child interact, which results in reduced language learning.
  6. Treat ear infections early: It is important to treat ear infections early as this causes hearing problems which in turn delays language learning. Consulting a pediatrician to get treatment for ear infections of your child is advisable. You should see to it that the child is being administered medications at regular intervals.

Due to slump in Business and worry about the current situation I am feeling very depressed and not being able to sleep properly and get only about three hours . Please help.?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Your stress is of a high level. This shortage of sleep portends serious repercussions for your health, let alone your business. You must be aware that many businesses do not last for various reasons. If you have to cut your losses and shut down the business for another, do it fast and consult a professional. Sometimes the location may not be suitable, the business may have run out its course, new approaches and competition can all put you out of your venture. Change is the only constant in life: innovate or perish. Passivity is criminal to the situation. Do something, even if it wrong. Try many options before you settle with the right one. But get on with your life, and soon too. Your sleep will return to normal levels and your health will not be threatened.

Internet addiction is a very recent phenomenon, but is already a cause for concern. With the advent of various social networking websites, people are increasingly becoming addicted to the internet. Internet addiction disorder is often characterized by people inching to form an emotional attachment with people and activities, all of them online. You may enjoy connecting to people more over the virtual interface instead of the real world; this usually stems from an inability to establish real human contact.

The symptoms of internet addiction disorder are:

This actually aggravates the problem instead of solving it; can result in severe anxiety and depression. Withdrawal symptoms might result in anxiety, depression, irritation and loneliness. This disorder can lead to complications such as dry eyes, headaches, change in sleep patterns and subsequent problems in falling asleep. Back pain from sitting upright while you are on the internet is also very common problem. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hi sir, I am suffering from anxiety from last many years I take medicines for this but before 6 months I got married ...
You can ask your doctor to taper and stop the medications and go for cognitive behavioural therapy, which may be helpful but not as effective as medications in OCD. There are medications available which do not affect your sexual life, surprised the doctor has not prescribed them, consult another psychiatrist for the same. All the best.
