Hello lybrate-user-patients of diabetes very commonly develop neuropathy due to the long-standing nature of the disease. Neuropathy is a disorder in which the nerves start to behave erratically sending signals to the brain without the stimulus when it is called neuropathy with positive symptoms - the symptoms being burning, tingling, pins and needles, tearing in the skin etc or it could be a situation in which the nerves stop sending signals to the brain when it is neuropathy with negative symptoms- the negative symptoms being numbness, lifelessness, emptiness etc. You have a neuropathy with positive symptoms. There are two ways it has to be treated. Firstly we would like to give you relief by giving you some neuropathy medicines. Secondly we would like to give you some medicines so that the progression of this neuropathy stop at your nerves can recover from this trouble. But most importantly in all this process you have to ensure that you take proper medication so that your blood sugar remains normal. Everything hinges upon the fact that your blood sugar is normal. Without a proper control of blood sugar no matter how much you try to cure this neuropathy- things will not improve at the basic level.

I am 60 and diabetic. I have a pain on the back at hip and my family physician opined that it is a neurological issue related to my diabetic condition and advised me to do exercises. Since last 1 month I go for regular brisk morning walk for about 45-50 minutes. But still there is not relief. Please advise.

Diabetes must be controlled & rule out vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don? t ignore, lest it becomes starting point of a major problem.

Hi Lybrate user Weight gain is very slow process. For weight gain you need to follow a strict food regime and exercise regime patiently for a long time. Weight gain through increasing lean body mass is healthy and sustainable for long time. Few tips for weight gain 1.Have calorie and protein dense food 2. Eat small and frequent meals 3. Include all food groups in your diet 4.Follow a weight gain exercise regime 5.Set small and achievable goals

I am 23 years old female. I am doing gym 4 times a week. Can you suggest me the diet for weight loss?

I am 23 years old female. I am doing gym 4 times a week. Can you suggest me the diet for weight loss?
Hi lybrate-user 1. Add fiber to your diet constipation distends your belly, add veggies and fruits to your daily diet to relieve you of constipation, reduce intakes of refined cereals like maida, noodles, pasta and whole grains instead add dalia and oats. This would relieve you of constipation and bloat to give you a flat tummy. 2. Decrease sodium intake sodium retains water in the body and hence your belly swells up, reduce intake of junk food as it contains a lot of sodium. Stop adding extra salt to dishes, also packaged and processed food contains a lot of salts so better avoid it. 3. Increase potassium foods rich in potassium help you get rid of balancing sodium, fruits are very good source of potassium, adding them to their daily diet not only provides this nutrient but also increase the fiber content of your daily intake 4. Avoid sugar alcohols we do not completely digest these low-calorie sweeteners usually found in flavoured low-calorie drinks, diabetic and sugar-free foods. Bacteria in a large intestine ferment during gas and distension so check food labels and avoid sorbitol, xylitol and lacitol. 5. Increase liquids drinking plenty of liquids helps flush out toxins from the body. Keep yourself hydrated with at least 8 glasses of water, also include lassi, coconut, water, lemon water in your daily routine. Make sure to include homemade soups only, as packaged soups are not that nutritious and contain added sodium in them. 6. Carbonated beverages and alcohol these give you extended bellies and your dream of flat tummy falls flat. Alcohol gives you empty calories with zero nutrition. 7. Probiotic curds include low fat curd in your diet regime as it contains live bacteria which tame bloating by increasing intestinal motility. 8. Method of cooking no doubt salads and sprouts are good for our health but if experience distension with them then saute, blanch or steam them also fried foods are best to be avoided not only because of their high-calorie content but also because frying leads to changes in oil composition which may result in bloating. 9. Avoid chewing gums and candies while chewing them air enters our digestive system, giving us feeling of bloating, also candies are zero in nutrition but contain loads of calories. Also, eat slowly as gulping down increases air passage to the digestive system 10. Individual tolerances some individuals are more intolerant to certain foods like radish, capsicum, tea, cauliflower etc, so with your own personal experience omit them from your diet.

Being a homoeopath,I will suggest you a natural way to glow your lips along with a lip balm. Lemon, Sugar Lip Scrub: In a small bowl, mix in 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and coconut oil. Add in and stir thoroughly 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar, a bit at a time to make thick paste of uniform consistency. If needed, you can add in more sugar. After mixing it well, you can transfer the scrub into a suitable storage container. It can be safely kept in fridge for about one week.Apply a little bit of the scrub to your lips, and scrub it in circular motion. To effectively exfoliate your lips, use a small toothbrush. Rinse your lips with warm water, and apply a LIP balm( BAKSON) on your choice.

There is no harm such bitter substances reduce glucose absorption from intestine. But alone may not be able control sugar. Continue medicine diet control and exercises.
