My right hand shoulder gave me pain. I meet with various orthopedic doctors. But still not get relief, what can I do....
Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

Sometimes I've so much pain in my hands or legs without doing any physical hard work. Can you say why.

Sometimes I've so much pain in my hands or legs without doing any physical hard work. Can you say why.
It shows that your bone are weak and you are lacking physical strength A number of factors can affect bone health. For example: •The amount of calcium in your diet. A diet low in calcium contributes to diminished bone density, early bone loss and an increased risk of fractures. •Physical activity---. People who are physically inactive have a higher risk of osteoporosis than do their more-active counterparts.----- •Tobacco and alcohol use. Research suggests that tobacco use contributes to weak bones. Similarly, regularly having more than two alcoholic drinks a day increases the risk of osteoporosis, possibly because alcohol can interfere with the body's ability to absorb calcium.---- •Size and age.--- You're at greater risk of osteoporosis. As you're having less weight as compared to your height (with a body mass index of 19 or less) because you may have less bone mass to draw from as you age. Also your bones will become thinner and weaker as you age.---- •You should get 1, 000 milligrams of calcium and 200 international units (IUs) of vitamin D a day. •Foods for healthy bones include Yogurt, Milk, Cheese, Eggs, Salmon, Spinach, Fortified Cereals, Tuna, Collard greens, and Orange juice

Heel Pain - Symptoms And Treatment

Heel Pain - Symptoms And Treatment

Heel pain is a common problem in the body where the affected person experiences pain radiating from the heel bone. Heel pain usually progresses slowly over time, it is recommended to consult a medical professional, if heel pain turns severe. The pain tends to most severe after one has been inactive for some time such as after waking up in the morning.

Causes
Heel pain is usually caused when tissues present in the bottom of the heel (Plantar fascia) is damaged. These tissues connect the heel bone with the bones of the feet and help in absorbing shocks. Tears are formed in these tissues when they are damaged or when they get thicker. These tissues are at an increased risk of wear and tear for those who are over 45 years old. The risks also tend to increase if the person is obese or whose occupation requires standing for lengthy periods of time.
Among other causes of heel pain are heel bone fractures, fat pad atrophy (a condition where a layer of fat present under the heel bone is reduced) and bursitis (inflammation of the fluid filled sacs present around the joints). Peripheral neuropathy is a condition where damage occurs in the peripheral nerves (that transmits signals between the central nervous system and the rest of the body), this can cause pain in the heel.

Symptoms
The symptoms of heel pain include:

  1. Experiencing pain while jogging or walking
  2. A feeling of pins pricking the heels after waking up in the morning
  3. Inability to bend the heel
  4. Painful swelling
  5. Pain in the heel accompanied by fever

Prevention and treatment
Heel pain can be prevented by taking certain preventive measures such as restricting usage of high heeled shoes without proper support and stretching the heel regularly. Medications such as painkillers are used to treat symptoms of heel pain.

Hi. Xray shows early stage osteoarthritis of knee which is wearing off of the joint. I recommend you meet an orthopedic doctor for examination and you may likely be suggested glucosamine tablets which works by repairing worn off joint.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If there is no bony injury in your back, and it is a muscular strain, then you can do following things: - rest for 5-7 days with no heavy physical activity like lifting weight, travelling for long time, acute bending etc - ice packs should be done intensively 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray like dynapar qps for 3-4 times after ice packs can be done - short course of anti-inflammatory medications which suits you can be instituted - a good muscle relaxant can be added so that muscle spasm gets relieved let me know in 5-7 days time how your pain is and we can proceed from there on. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I am 54 years old. I have been experiencing severe pain in my left forearm whenever I spent time in cold climate and also at the time of constipation. Can you please diagnoze this disease and recommend suitable treatment?

Hi, I would like to think that you should get your cervical spine evaluated, if thats fine than it could be due to either nerve entrapment or vascular cause. A short duration course of anti-inflammatory drugs with physical therapy can be tried. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay

Sir/Ma'am I am suffering from sciatic pain for more then a year now, tried many medications but no action.
You need to consult a physiotherapist personally to get yourself examined and to see the extent of your problem. It might require few sessions of electrotherapy, exercises and manual therapy. Until you do that, you can do some basic exercises for relieving sciatica pain. These exercises you can read in my "Health Tips" on Lybrate.
