I joined MBBS on August 2010. On January 2011 my relatives bet me continuously for around 3 to 4 hours front of public that to all known fellows and for no reason they did that and later many people remembered that incident regularly by making fun of me for almost 2 years means from January 2011 to December 2012. And moreover previously few days before my relatives bet me I was been ragged by college seniors so I had went home. But my relatives bet me telling I was lying and ran home to quit medical and etc bad things about me. and later they kept on spreading negatives about me which I had not done. Infact even to my college Dean, Professors and Clerk. So everyday from Jan 2011 to June 2011 one or the other was scolding me. So I fear+sadness I didn't met anybody whom I know or anybody new. And parents were neutral. And flunked in June 2011 (1st year MBBS exam. And from that day till now I am dying in fear+sadness+anger on relatives+more anxiety+no proper sleep+not taking food properly+still not able to mingle with people. Didn't pass and trying to study or work or do something but couldn't do. Unable to forget those 6 months till today. I am sure I am not lying. So am I normal? Am I useless to live? I want to complete MBBS and even do PG. At that time my age was 18 and now almost 24 years. Is it worth if I start 1st year MBBS again.

Dear lybrate user, first of all, I want to tell you, that do not make negative comments to yourself and negative and pessimistic ruminations about self. Because you have that incident happened and because you were not aware of any reason behind why your relatives treated in an in-humanitarian manner, clearly reflects their insensitivity towards you and to humanity in general. Because a normal understanding person will not treat other person like this. Second due to this traumatic experience you were not able to concentrate and study also which is but obvious, as anyone who is in such kind of situation will definitely feels fearful, angry and anxious. Further, meeting with such people or even talking about them would make you more helpless and difficult to trust people around. I would suggest you to continue your studies which you have stopped in between and it is definitely worth full if you will study hard and put best efforts again to do mbbs and distract more in pleasurable activities which you find enjoyable and relaxing. Also, it is important for you to understand that you can not change people or their attitude, the only thing you can do is to manage yourself and adopt better coping mechanism which makes you more proactive towards any kind of challenging or difficult situation. Even if your relatives keep saying some bad words for you, do not give weight to them as they are of no use. Your aim is to achieve higher and success in life. Consult a clinical psychologist, who can deeply and better do management of psychological issues like, anger, fear and sadness and how you can socially adjust in any kind of environment. Take care.

7 Sex Related Myths, Busted.

Sex being an intimate activity gets less educational focus and therefore carries many myths around it. Let’s understand what’s common knowledge but is not true, here.

1. Myth: Youngsters have better sex.
Truth: While most young adults enjoy rapid and agile sex sessions, older adults look forward to intimacy. They seek more of emotional rewards than physical gratification, and any intercourse is only better when it thoroughly enjoyed and not just rushed through.

2. Myth: Female orgasm is directly related to Intercourse
Truth: About 75% of women attain orgasm via clitoris stimulation instead of vaginal intercourse. For simultaneous climax, male spouse can first titillate clitoris to match the timing with the penetration.

3. Myth: Men are more keen on sex than women
Truth: There is no biological justification for women being less interested in sex. There may be other reasons like day to day stress; childhood abuse; work pressure; incompatible relationship, social stigma and related mental blocks etc.

4. Myth: Ejaculation Leads to real sexual pleasure in Men
Truth: A lot of men experience non-ejaculatory pleasure. Practice would help a person to demarcate ejaculation from orgasm.

5. Myth: Foreplay is a precursor to a good sex session
Truth: Foreplay should be treated as an independent activity and would never be done with the sole aim of leading towards erection and then ejaculation. Foreplay is a bonding process that deserves to be enjoyed without any preoccupations.

6. Myth: Bigger penis leads to more pleasure
Truth: The size of penis is more of an egoistic disposition. The job of penis is to titillate inside of clitoris to create sensation. Size does not impact its performance.

7. Myth: Oral sex is safe
Truth: This statement holds truth only for preventing pregnancy. Considering possibility of transmission of infections, even oral sex can prove to be fatal. You must only rely on using a condom for complete safety.

I had a sleeping problem. At night no sleep but at day just sleep Solution please.

Fellowship in Endocrinology, DNB (FM),National Board of Examinations, MD Physician
General Physician, Delhi
I had a sleeping problem. At night no sleep but at day just sleep
Solution please.
Hello lybrate user practice sleep hygiene for sound sleepa as sleep hygiene is the key to sweet dreams. Poor sleep habits are among the most common problems encountered in our society. We stay up too late and get up too early. We interrupt our sleep with drugs, chemicals and work, and we overstimulate ourselves with late-night activities such as television. === fix a bedtime and an awakening time. Do not be one of those people who allows bedtime and awakening time to drift. The body" gets used" to falling asleep at a certain time, but only if this is relatively fixed. Even if you are retired or not working, this is an essential component of good sleeping habits. Avoid napping during the day. If you nap throughout the day, it is no wonder that you will not be able to sleep at night. The late afternoon for most people is a" sleepy time. Many people will take a nap at that time. This is generally not a bad thing to do, provided you limit the nap to 30-45 minutes and can sleep well at night. Avoid alcohol 4-6 hours before bedtime. Many people believe that alcohol helps them sleep. While alcohol has an immediate sleep-inducing effect, a few hours later as the alcohol levels in your blood start to fall, there is a stimulant or wake-up effect. Avoid caffeine 4-6 hours before bedtime. This includes caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and many sodas, as well as chocolate, so be careful. Avoid heavy, spicy, or sugary foods 4-6 hours before bedtime. These can affect your ability to stay asleep. Exercise regularly, but not right before bed. Regular exercise, particularly in the afternoon, can help deepen sleep. Strenuous exercise within the 2 hours before bedtime, however, can decrease your ability to fall asleep. Your sleeping environment use comfortable bedding. Uncomfortable bedding can prevent good sleep. Evaluate whether or not this is a source of your problem, and make appropriate changes. Find a comfortable temperature setting for sleeping and keep the room well ventilated. If your bedroom is too cold or too hot, it can keep you awake. A cool (not cold) bedroom is often the most conducive to sleep. Block out all distracting noise, and eliminate as much light as possible. Possible. Relaxation techniques before bed. Don't take your worries to bed. Leave your worries about job, school, daily life, etc. Behind when you go to bed. Some people find it useful to assign a" worry period" during the evening or late afternoon to deal with these issues. Establish a pre-sleep ritual. Pre-sleep rituals, such as a warm bath or a few minutes of reading, can help you sleep. Get into your favorite sleeping position. If you don't fall asleep within 15-30 minutes, get up, go into another room, and read until sleepy.

I am 19 year old boy. My question is ‘ does masturbation helps in increasing height’?

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology
Psychologist, Palakkad
I am 19 year old boy.
My question is ‘ does masturbation helps in increasing height’?
Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Masturbation never helps in increasing height. Masturbation is normal, natural and never unhealthy. Even animals do masturbate. As a human being, you are also an animal. Every animal has sexual instinct because they are designed to reproduce. Human being also has sexual instinct and therefore he needs to satisfy sexual instinct. Therefore, to satisfy sexual instinct, a man or woman, masturbates. In any case, masturbation is never unhealthy or will never affect your physical or sexual health or it cannot affect your future sex life and the ability to have children. Masturbation cannot affect your growth or cause pimples or cause hair fall or cause shrinkage of penis or loss of vital nutrients etc. You should try to reduce the masturbation frequency to thrice a week and continue masturbation. You can be sure; there are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. I suggest online sex counseling and therapy. Take care.
