You lybrate-user skin lightening creams are to be used for short periods of time under supervision of doctor. Longer use leads to sensitivity of skin in the form of redness & pain on applying anything even moisture or face wash. please go to skin doctor for further treatment as at this stage stopping everything will not help. This redness will turn into darker skin.

lybrate-user you have sprained some muscle of your back. You need to take rest for 2-3 days. An analgesic ointment along with heat fomentation can help. Ultrasonic therapy by physiotherapist is another alternative. If does not get well within 3-4 days then consult doctor -pain physician or orthopaedic doctor.

lybrate-user this lump seems to be on your scalp as you can feel it. You can wait for a week if this doesn’t get ok then show a surgeon. These are sometimes small sebaceous cyst which doesn’t cause problem until it’s gets infected.

lybrate-user the pain due to laptop could be due to weak eyesight, dryness of eyes due to excessive use of laptop or mobile or migraine. So please get your eyesight checked and also see physician if eyes are normal. Because light can precipitate migraine. But for migraine you should have pain on half side of head and same side eye.

Hot And Cold Therapy - Know The Ways It Can Help Treating Pain!

Hot And Cold Therapy - Know The Ways It Can Help Treating Pain!

Ice packs and heating pads are the way to go when in pain. Treating pain with hot and cold therapy can be very effective for several conditions or injuries and easily affordable as well. However, the tricky part can be deciding when to apply hot and when to apply cold. At times, the therapy can include both the types.

As a general rule of thumb, ice is used for acute injuries or pain with characteristics of swelling or inflammation and heat is used for easing muscle pain or stiffness. Ultimately, both the therapies work well for treating pain.

How does heat and cold therapy relieve pain?
Both the therapies stimulate the body’s healing response. Heat therapy dilates the blood vessels, promotes blood circulation and alleviates muscle spasms. Additionally, it also alters the sensation of pain. Heat therapy employs heating pads or heating lamps for direct application of heat and also moist heat like warm baths, heated wash cloths or heated pads.

On the other hand, cold therapy constricts the blood vessels, reduces swelling and numbs any deep pain. At first, applying ice may be uncomfortable, but it helps by soothing acute pain. Cold therapy employs ice packs, coolant sprays, ice bath and also cryo-stretching, which uses cold to reduce muscle spasms during stretching.

  1. Using heat and ice. Whether you are using a hot pack or a cold therapy, ensure you apply the right temperature.
  2. When applying heat, it should not be too hot or it may lead to burns or scalds. The skin must be checked at regular intervals. Heat should not be applied to a new injury as it can increase bleeding around the injured area and make it worse. Heat is helpful for the following problems:
    1. Stiff or aching muscles due to strenuous activity or overexertion
    2. Chronic pain conditions of arthritis and fibromyalgia
    3. Muscle spasms or cramping pains
  3. Ice has been used for a long time to treat soft tissue injuries, where there is swelling. It is used to manage pain in the short term and can also be used on a long term basis to treat pain. Cold therapy is helpful in the following ways:
    1. Reduces bleeding or further infection
    2. Prevents and alleviates swelling or inflammation
    3. Reduces muscle spasm and pain
    4. Numbs the area affected and reduces deep pain by limiting the effects of swelling
  4. Precautions when using ice and heat
    1. Over skin areas that are in poor conditions
    2. Sensitive areas
    3. Over areas with poor blood circulation
    4. Diabetes
    5. Presence of any infection. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Pain Management Specialist.

Hi I recently gave birth to a baby girl just 8 days old. My question and worry about is anesthesia given to me during Cesarean and side affects. That day as human mistake I unknowingly had a sip of water before anesthesia or antibiotics were given .so said the said to doctor they gave ondem injection and one gastric before anesthesia was given and later due to a bad or untrained nurse I was given an antibiotic on third day as usual on wrist which she injected forcefully into the nerve through a pipe. It pained like hell. I almost screamed to peaks. The antibiotic did not go into the nerve. It blocked and swelled the wrist. It took three days to reduce the swelling on its own. My right head side full sweating. Due to humidity. And it's cold entire face on right. And even on eight side neck. My legs started swelling .I don't think it's water that caused swelling. Can you say why these many changes in this Cesarean.

lybrate-user just relax nothing to worry. There is no problem of water you took if you were given injection in the back (spinal anaesthesia) problem could have come if general anaesthesia was required. Now since it's 8 days post caesarean. Nothing to worry. The pain you had could be due to blocked vein which sometimes open with pain or some antibiotics are painful to inject. Don't think of worst that could happen rather feel good that you are are ok & safe.
