I have recently started chewing my nails and I can not stop it even though sometimes my nails get too short and its painful. Along with the nail, I have this addiction to eat pencil graphite, I try to stop but I am unable too. Can you please tell me if I am suffering from any deficiency or do I need to consult with any doctor?

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Pica is an eating disorder that involves eating items that are not typically thought of as food and that do not contain significant nutritional value, such as hair, dirt, and paint chips. I suggest telephonic counseling for you. You can contact me for further advice and treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
