About Rapisone-D Sr Capsule

Rapisone-D Sr Capsule is a combination medication and is primarily prescribed to relieve muscle spasm pain. This medicine works by relaxing both vascular smooth muscles and skeletal muscles and demonstrates a variety of effects such as improvement of circulation, reduction of myotonia and suppression of the pain reflex.

It is also used for the treatment of patients with acute musculoskeletal spasm associated with lower back pain. You may experience shock and anaphylactoid reactions as side effects of this medicine.

This medicine should be carefully administered in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any medication, or with liver disorders. This medicine is not considered safe for use in pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding and in young children.

In adults, the usual dose of Rapisone-D Sr Capsule is 50–150 mg daily, in divided doses, after meals. However, the dosage can be adjusted by your doctor depending on factors such as patient age, the severity of symptoms and response to treatment. Older people are recommended to start the medication with lower doses.

    How does this medication work?

    This medicine is a combination of Eperisone and Diclofenac. They belong to the class of antispasmodic and NSAID respectively. Thus this medication works via the dual mechanism.

    Firstly, it prevents mono and multisynaptic reflexes in the spinal cord. It regulates the blood supply to the muscles causing relaxation of vascular skeletal muscles. Secondly, it inhibits an enzyme named Cyclooxygenase which is responsible for the formation of prostaglandin. Prostaglandin is a major contributor to the process of inflammation and pain sensation in the body.

        The drug should not consumed with or under the effect of alcohol as they react and cause side effects like nausea, dizziness and severe indigestion.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Painkiller such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen should be avoided as it increases the chance of side effects. Blood thinner are also not recommended if you are hypertensive you should consult your doctor before starting this medication.
      • Interaction with Disease

        This medication should be avoided if you have NSAID-sensitive asthma, Fluid retention and edema, Gastro-Intestinal toxicity, Skin rash, Impaired kidney function and heart attack.
