I am a 30 years old, my weight is 72, I have got intestines weak what should I do to strong my intestines.
Hi lybrate-user One of the most important applications of good nutrition is that it keeps our immune system strong. Genetically all of us are born with a certain level of vitality or bio-energy. This is the very essence of life and it decides your immunity level. One can further enhance immunity by leading the right lifestyle, exercising regularly, eating correctly and taking sufficient nutrients in the form of supplements. Pollution, long working hours, poor stress management, use of stimulants, intoxicants, late nights, poor diet, overeating takes a toll on the immune function and affects the energy level. If there is a lot of toxin accumulation in the blood, you may find yourself getting very tired by the end of the day and this would affect work performance as well as affect the way you deal with people. The wrong choice of foods may make you irritable and short-tempered. This is because food influences almost every aspect of your being. Certain supplements help to improve immunity and boost energy levels. Selenium: Lately, researchers have acknowledged the many benefits of selenium. This trace mineral, until recently, was considered essential for animals but unsafe for humans. Selenium, which works best when taken along with beta-carotene and vitamin E, has the ability to boost the body’s immune system and protect it against free radical damage. As a result, you have a stronger immune system. Its immune boosting properties are attributed to its ability to enhance the production of glutathione peroxidase, a potent antioxidant our body produces. Additionally, selenium helps in the prevention of strokes and hardened arteries and breast and prostrate cancer. Without adequate intake, the body could be subjected to infections and degenerative diseases such as heart disease and cancer. As we age, our cells get low in selenium, which hastens the aging process. Research indicates that most age related illnesses, including physical and mental deterioration, can be decelerated by supplementing with selenium. How do we get Selenium in our diet? While foods like garlic, sunflower seeds, whole grains and brazelnuts do contain small quantities of selenium, these are not dependable sources as currently, most of our soils are depleted of this mineral. This increases the need to supplement. However, it’s possible for plant foods such black grapes, whole grains, onions, brown rice and garlic to retain selenium if they are grown in selenium rich soil. Quantity: If used for its immune boosting properties, a dose of about 100 micrograms is sufficient. If you are using it for conditions such as anxiety or depression, or for protection against heart disease or cancer, you would need around 150-200 mcg per day. You should not exceed this amount, except under medical supervision, as higher doses of selenium could prove lethal. Indeed, it is possible to tackle the above-mentioned conditions, with other vitamins, minerals, supplements and lifestyle modifications. Apart from selenium, there are other vitamins, minerals, supplements and lifestyles factors which work synergistically to prevent the above mentioned problems but selenium remains a prime player in boosting immunity.

I am 22 years old male suffering from lack of weight gain. How can I gain weight.

I am 22 years old male suffering from lack of weight gain. How can I gain weight.
Whole grains include brown rice, oats, cereals, wheat, etc., which are the powerhouses of diverse nutrients. Oats, plain or brown rice are good sources of complex carbohydrates and help build your muscles. On the other hand, cereals are a high calorie food. They must be consumed as morning meal. • Brown rice can be a filling food because of its fiber, carbohydrates and protein content. If you are planning for a healthy weight gain, then combine rice with some other nutrient and calorie-dense foods. Instead of water, cook them in broth or milk. You may also add butter or cheese over the top. Starchy vegetables and dried fruits can be mixed. • Even though oatmeal is regarded as a weight-loss food, but it also aids weight-gain when combined with whole milk. One full bowl of oats can add necessary nutrition to the body, as it is rich in fiber and nutrients. You can prepare oatmeal with milk. Serve it with honey and toppings of handful of nuts, dried fruits, and other mix-ins to ramp up your weight.

Homeopath,

Dear lybrate user, increasing weight does not mean that you will go fatty. In fact, extra fat serves as a precursor of many diseases. In order to increase your weight as well as stay healthy you have to increase the muscle mass of your body. Normally a muscle undergoes an increase in size when it gets hypertrophied due to weight training. Weight-training leads to the pumping of blood to the muscle resulting in increased protein synthesis in the muscles. This applies to every muscles of human body. So, weight training is a must to increase weight. Whenever a muscle gets hypertrophied it demands protein to expand. Here comes the need of protein supplement. The most effective protein supplement is whey protein. But kindly remember only taking supplement is not enough. You need to take those supplements according to a fixed schedule. For quicker & better results take 40 grams of whey just after waking from sleep at morning. Take another 20 grams of whey just 30 minutes before workout. Again take 40 grams of whey just after you have finished your workout. Kindly remember gaining weight is a time -taking process. So do not expect any result within fortnight.

Please suggest diet to reduce my weight. I had surgical delivery by caesarean section and my baby is 5 month old.

Please suggest diet to reduce my weight. I had surgical delivery by caesarean section and my baby is 5 month old.
You can reduce weight after caesarean section to:- make time for your meals, especially breakfast. Skipping meals can lower your energy levels and won't help you lose weight. Eat at least five portions of fruits and vegetables in a day. Include plenty of fibre-rich foods such as vegetables, oats, lentils and grains in your diet. Go easy on the special high-calorie foods given to women after birth, such as panjiri, ghee-laden dishes and fried dry fruits. Enjoy these tasty treats by balancing them with your meals. If you're eating a low-calorie meal such as khichdi, then you can have a high-calorie til ka ladoo at the end for example. But if you're eating aloo puri for lunch, you may want to save the panjiri for when you have a lower calorie meal. Watch your portions at mealtimes. Small meals eaten often can help prevent overeating. Drink plenty of low-calorie fluids like water, nimbu pani, coconut water, and fresh fruit juices. Lots of calories can be hidden in packaged juices, full cream milk and soft drinks. Breastfeed your baby. Experts say that exclusive breastfeeding makes it easier to regain your pre-pregnancy shape. Keep an eye on the number and type of snacks you have between meals. Opt for healthy and filling snacks like salads, fruit platters or a glass of toned milk.

I am 19 male I am very thin and short but I want to call and strong now what should I do?

I am 19 male I am very thin and short but I want to call and strong now what should I do?
Hi here are 6 ways to gain weight healthily: 1. Eating 5 to 6 meals a day in order to gain weight, start eating 5-6 meals a day by breaking them into parts. Eating a lot at once may cause indigestion if the body fails to absorb all nutrients. Eat in small amounts, even if you are not hungry and there will be an increase in appetite from day to day. The aim should be to have a generously portioned breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as two to three snacks in between. 2. Start weight training if you build your muscles through weight training, it will convert the extra weight into lean body mass and also stimulate your appetite. The extra muscle increases the rate of metabolism. When you start exercising you will often experience extreme muscle soreness but it goes away in 3-5 days. 3. Load up on protein besides weight training, a protein-rich diet can help you gain mass. Eating a meal heavy in protein shortly after finishing exercise can be highly effective in adding extra pounds to your body. However, a diet focused only on lean protein is not helpful. It is important to make sure that your diet has plenty of fat in it. Eat foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, etc to gain weight in a healthy manner. 4. Workout your entire body a lot of people focus only on training the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Firstly, it will give you a disproportionate body; and it will make you prone to injuries. Therefore, it's important to work out the entire body for a complete and balanced look. 5. Drink your calories to reach the calorie requirement only by eating may be tough. Drinking milk, milkshakes or protein shakes with little or no sugar can be an effective way to load up on the calorie requirements. 6. Be patient and believe in yourself gaining weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Every body type is different and it takes months to gain weight. Living healthy by eating the right diet will increase your strength. It is also important to keep following the routine even if you don't see any gains. Caution: junk food and fried foods must be avoided; although have a tendency to add more fat to your body but are very low in vitamins and minerals which are essentially required to keep you really fit.

I am 26 year old man since 2 weeks I feels so much weakness and try some medicines for that but could not helping. What am I do.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
Hello Weakness is a result of lack of physical or muscle strength. If you are feeling that extra effort is required to move your arms, legs, or other muscles, it could also be a result of any disease, illness and too much activity at one time and not taking the food to match the amount of physical effort you are doing. Sometimes low levels of minerals (electrolytes), such as potassium or sodium also result in body weakness. Other important reason could be the problems with your thyroid gland. Because your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the way the body uses energy. A low thyroid level can cause fatigue, weakness, laziness, weight gain etc. and a high thyroid level can cause fatigue, weight loss, muscle weakness etc. Sometime because of stress you may feel disinterest in your routine works. Since the reasons for your weakness are not known, i shall advise the following - 1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.
