Could be Juvenile Diabetes Mellitus if there already is history of this in the parental tree. Check her blood sugar too and get it ruled out. If it is the cause its regular treatment is essential.

Deep seated corns need to be removed surgically from below its nucleus, lest it may regrow. Application of caps may soften it for some depth but may not be totally effective and takes very long to get cleared. Edit Answer

3 Ways To Prevent Your Child From Developing Type 2 Diabetes!

3 Ways To Prevent Your Child From Developing Type 2 Diabetes!

Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body from processing sugar or glucose. The disorder causes insufficient production of the hormone Insulin (responsible for regulating sugar into the different parts of your body); or the body's failure to respond to the hormone produced. Although no cure is available for T2DM, there are several ways in which you can help prevent Type 2 diabetes in your child. These are:

1. Get your child to indulge in some physical activity - Spending about 60 minutes of the day on physical activity can help your child to ward off Type 2 diabetes. In terms of screen time, it shouldn't be over 2 hours a day. By doing so, he or she ends up building his or her muscles as well as gets rid of extra fat from the body. An active life would also help your child to maintain an optimal body weight with obesity being a cause of this form of diabetes. Whether it's a sport like swimming, cricket or basketball, or even walking and dancing, physical activity in any form can help in preventing your child from developing Type 2 diabetes.

2. Plan a well-balanced diet for your child - Encouraging your child to have healthy foods and making right food choices can also lower his or her chances of getting this metabolic disorder. Foods high in fiber like whole grain cereals and bread, lentils, fruits, and vegetables should be consumed. Similarly, foods low in trans and saturated fats like lean meat, chicken, yogurt and cheese should be included in your child's diet. Processed foods, as well as sugary drinks, should be no-no when it comes to your child's diet.

3. Adopting proper eating habits - It is not only making the right food choices that are important but eating right as well is vital for preventing the onset of diabetes. Having meals with fix portion sizes is a habit that you need to develop in your child. Ideally, half the plate should be filled with vegetables and fruits; a quarter with lean protein like chicken; and the remaining with whole grain. To accompany the meal, make your child have one cup of no-fat or low-fat milk. Desserts like ice cream and cookies should be allowed only once or twice a week. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a general physician.

Mostly Chickenpox does not leave spots or scars unless some vesicles having large size and depth are ruptured before scab formation. Only these vesicles may leave a spot or scar. Rest of them will disappear spontaneously by the scaling of superficial layers of skin (epidermis). Selected spots especially on visible parts of body like face may need make up coverage.

You may be suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS, which means your bowel gets irritated due to some local or psychogenic factors and causes frequent motions. Eat high fiber diet to form good volume of residual faecal matter causing good stretching of Colo rectal muscles and one single clear motion. Endoscopy may help in confirming or ruling out other reasons.

Whooping Cough in Kids - How It Can Be Treated?

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS
General Physician, Akola
Whooping Cough in Kids - How It Can Be Treated?

Whooping Cough (another name for Pertussis) can be termed as an infection to the respiratory system caused by the bacterium Bordetella Pertussis (B. pertussis). It generally affects infants (below one year of age) and who have not yet been immunized; also kids between 11 to 18 years of age whose immunity graphs are on a downward spiral.

What are the Signs and Symptoms?
Initially, whooping cough produces signs and symptoms that may just seem to overlap with those exhibited during the average cough and cold; mild coughing, sneezing, runny nose, low fever, etc. These persist for about a week or two and then slowly, there is the onset of the dry, irritating cough which again turns to prolonged coughing spells. The child’s face may seem flushed with a purple hue. The child may also vomit or make the distinctive whooping sound at the end of one such spell. Breathing difficulty can be another issue.

What is the Diagnosis?
The doctor performs an initial check-up followed by tests of mucus sample from the nose or throat. The mucus is checked for the presence of the Bordetella pertussis bacteria. To make a more thorough diagnosis, a blood test is also advisable.

What is the Treatment?
Hospitalisation might be required in case of acute distress. Respiratory support may also be provided if required. If there is intense dehydration, intravenous (IV) fluids may also be administered. As this disease is on account of a bacterial infection, antibiotics will be needed. But these will just treat the immediate effects and the cough cannot be completely done away with.

What can be the Possible Complications?

The possible immediate complications include:

  1. Brain Damage
  2. Pneumonia
  3. Convulsion
  4. Haemorrhaging in the brain

What can be the Prevention?
Vaccination is needed in order to prevent whooping cough. The vaccines are advised to be administered at the age of two months, four months and six months respectively. The 1st booster dose is to be given at 16 to 18 months age and 2nd booster dose is given on 5 year completion of age. An optional booster may be given at 10 year age. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a general physician.

Your lumbar nerve roots are most probably pinched in the intervertebral disc which might be getting away from its natural position. You should get an MRI examination of your Lumbo Sacral spine and consult further with reports. Till then avoid forward bending, lifting heavy objects and avoiding soft mattresses for sleeping. A lumbo sacral belt is advisable.

My friend's mother was hospitalized yesterday after some symptoms of minor heart attack. And he's very much worried. She is in ICU till now and has low BP as heart is weak to pump blood as said by doctor. She is also on insulin as she is a sugar patient. I have ICU chart with me, I can share it. Doctor is saying she is responding to treatment well but my concern is having a low BP can be a situation to worry about.

My friend's mother was hospitalized yesterday after some symptoms of minor heart attack. And he's very much worried. ...
Low BP is definitely a point of concern in post myocardial infarction management and is due to compromised pumping function of the left ventricle. You should have confidence in the words of the treating physician when he says she is responding to treatment. She may need continuous monitoring and treatment even after recovery, but if the attack is labelled to be minor, you should not worry too much. A direct study of her case papers may be of much help in opining.

More than coitus, it is related with your life style, exercises and sleeping mattresses. Do not do any work or exercise in which you need to lift heavy weights especially from front and end forwards. Do not sleep in sagging soft thick mattresses. Do extension exercises by bending backwards. Do not allow yourself to gain weight.
