I have problem with my tooth, whenever I have a cold water I feel pain in my tooth.
Dear lybrate-user, your teeth have become sensitive to cold food-stuff and water. Sensitivity may occur due to a variety of causes, the most common being: 1. Brushing your teeth too hard 2. Gum diseases 3. Dental cavity if you are applying too much pressure while brushing, it is likely to lead to a condition called as attrition, wherein the the outermost tough layer of the teeth (enamel) begins to wear, exposing the underlying structures that are more sensitive to cold stuff. If that is the case, you need to use a soft brush and put minimal pressure on your teeth while brushing. Also, you must switch to an anti-sensitivity toothpaste which will help reduce your problem to a considerable extent. In case you have an inadequately maintained oral hygiene, is likely that you may have developed a gum problem, which is manifesting as sensitivity. For that, you would be required to get a thorough professional cleaning/scaling done from a dentist. It will solve your problem. Besides the above, dental cavities also cause abnormal sensations to cold water. You will have to get it checked from a dentist, and if such a cavity is present, it may require a filling. Hope that helps.

I am having mouth ulcers frequently and are painful at times and irritating other times. I am taking lactobasil plus ...
Ulcers occurred due to sharp edged tooth or some overhanging margin of a filling or crown. Mouth ulcer has so many causes. The most common associated cause is vit b12 deficiency, local trauma or apthous stomatitis. Local trauma includes rubbing on sharp edges, fillings, false teeth, dentures, orthodontic treatment eating rough foods like potato chips can cause ulcers thermal burns can happen after eating very hot foods or beverages in the mouth. Holding an strong concentrated medicine next to mucosa can cause ulcer a person undergoing radiotherapy develops ulcer recurrent apthous stomatitis is also associated with ulcers. Underlying cause is hematinic deficiency (folate, vitaminb, iron), stopping smoking, stress, mensturation, trauma, food allergies or hpersenstivity to sodiul lauryl sulphate found in toothpaste. Many infections are also associated with ulcers like chicken pox, herpetic stomatitis, anug, syphilis, tb many drugs can cause ulcers like alendronate (a bisphosphonate drug for osteoporosis, cytotoxic drugs, nsaids (pain killers), nicorandil for angina and propylthiouracil for hyperthyroidism. I have tried to elaborate as many causes as possible. The purpose is that" ulcer is not a disease but a symptom of may other disease, please try to find your problem, then the treatment can be started after that. We need to find the right cause before we can start over the treatment. For pain relief, you can apply a topical oral ulcer gel containing choline salicylate and lignocaine hcl. Aslo start warm saline rinses if the problem persist, you need to consult a dentist for more specific diagnosis and treatment would be tailored accordingly.

Implant is better because the doctor will not be doing anything on the neighboring teeth whereas in bridge it has to take support from adjoining teeth.

ORAL BRUSH BIOPSY

MDS, BDS

Ask Free Question
Oralcdx (oralcdx laboratories, inc. Suffern, ny), the oral brush biopsy with computer aided analysis, is a diagnostic tool that identifies dysplasia in common oral spots that often have no suspicious clinical features. In comparison to exfoliative cytology, the brush biopsy technique collects cells from the full thickness of the oral epithelium. An oral brush biopsy is a chair-side, painless, easy to perform a test that can be used to identify any suspicious lesion including common small white and red oral lesions to rule out dysplastic features. Since most oral lesions are benign in nature, most test results are likely to be benign. Almost 10% of all cases usually turn out to be abnormal. Based on the results, the laboratory advises specific guidance on these abnormal cases sometimes recommending scalpel biopsy, observation or retesting.

When I brush my teeth blood start coming out from gums. This happens only while brushing teeth.
There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Pain Even After Root Canal - What To Do

PGDHHM, BDS
Dentist
Ask Free Question
When a small cavity isn't treated in time, the tooth decays badly that normal filling cannot solve the problem. In such cases, your dentist will probably advise you to undergo, a root canal. When performing a root canal, the dentist will remove the nerves and pulp within the tooth, clean the inside of the tooth and seal it. After this procedure your tooth will not sense anything and should be pain free.

However, in some cases you may still experience pain after root canal and there are four main causes of this pain:

1. Swelling of ligament around the tooth: One of the signs that you need a root canal is swelling of the gums. Even after the nerves and pulp within the tooth are removed, the ligaments around the infected tooth may still be swollen. This can take some time before the tissue is normal again. In most cases this is the cause for pain after a root canal procedure.

2. Damaged tissue: Part of the root canal procedure is to clean the insides of the tooth. Here the dentist must be very careful to not go beyond the tooth. In some cases the file used to clean the tooth may go beyond the root and damage the tissue there. Another possibility is that the sealant used to fill the tooth may go beyond the root, thus aggravating the tissue. This can take some time to heal and may cause pain.

3. Excess filling: After the tooth has been cleaned, the dentist fills the tooth with a sealant. If excessive sealant is filled in the tooth, it may become taller than the surrounding teeth, which puts extra pressure on the tooth and results in soreness and pain. The dentist will have to remove the excess sealant in order to resolve this issue.

4. Phantom pain: Phantom pain is rare when it comes to root canal. This occurs when the nerve leading up to the tooth still behaves like it were connected to the tooth despite the nerve within the tooth being completely removed. The peripheral nerves will need to be treated to resolve this issue.

In most cases, these events cannot be prevented. There is also no reason to expect that this is a symptom of your root canal being a failure. Stay in touch with your dentist and brush and floss your teeth regularly. You will soon notice the pain subsiding.

I am 21 year old I have gap problem in front of my two teeth please give a solution.
Gap may be due to frenum, soft tissue hanging behind upper lip. Get frenum removed then if gap is small 2-4mm composite build up will do. If it's a large gap then orthodontic closure is recommended.

Implants with uncontrolled diabetes would be a failure. It would be better if you could go for a bps processing denture of if few teeth missing a sunflex.

Smell from the mouth may be due to conditions present in the mouth and from stomach. Conditions in the mouth are poor oral hygiene i. E presence of plaque and tartar, poor salivary flow, or may be due to some gum infections. Problems from stomach may be due gastritis. Dehydration is also a common cause. Drinking adequate water may also relieve this. Kindly consult your dentist for further clarifications and wish a confident smile.
