Sir, you need to see a physician, get a few more tests done. Diabetes is not diagnosed with just a single reading of high sugars. Then depending on your blood reports evaluating your blood sugars, since how long they've been high, how your kidneys are functioning, the correct medicine for diabetes if you have it, is prescribed. So do consult a good physician as soon as you can.

I am suffering from hashimoto thyroid my t3 t4 and TSH level's are normal and too is 55iu/ml what to do.

Homeopath, Ernakulam
Check your TPO and ATG levels as well=start homoeopathic medicines=check the same every month and USG thyroid/Scintni scan every 3 months. Hashimotos is curable by homoeopathic treatment and life time medication as suggested by Endocrinologist of Eltroxin/thyronorm/thyroxin/Neo mercazole etc is not needed.

Jalra 50/500 and zoryl, and basalog insulin are given for diabetes to my mom, why 3 different drugs?

Hello, Thanks for the query. In diabetes when required control is not achieved with single drug, multiple drugs are used. In T2 diabetes the beta cell mass is already down to 50 % by the time diagnosis is made. Then if severe hyperglycemia is present then there's further damage to remaining beta cells. In such situations Insulin injections are required along with oral anti- diabetic drugs. Thus the reason for using more drugs is to achieve better glucose control. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. The fasting glucose is in the prediabetic range. PP is normal. There is no immediate problem. He should maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, avoid too much of sweets, junk foods, bakery items, foods made from maida and colas. Plus refrain from alcohol and smoking. Maintain his weight near normal for height and age. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. There is no generic substitute for that combination. Most of the other brands (branded generics) all are priced around the same. Thanks.

Sir my daddy is 76 years and he does not have BP nor Sugar. He is healthy aged man. But in June he suffered paralytic stroke and has a clot in his brain he was in Apollo hospital for 3 days and then discharged so our doctors for 2 months gave him medicines like Ecosprin 150 mg, Remetor 40 mg, Pantocid 40 and Thyronorm 12. 5 mcg. After 2 months Doctor changed my daddy's tablets he asked to stop using all the above medicines and just use Rosufit CV 10 mg everyday after lunch. Now after 1 month today when I went for regular check Doctor said my daddy BP was 120/84 and his pulse says frequent Ectopic. Even after discharge in june from hospital they placed Holter for 24 hrs and even that reading also said SV Ectopic beats 13, And 24 hrs holter analysis shows frequent VPC'S in the form of BIGEMINY NOTED, No runs of VS/SVT MAXIMUM HEART RATE 114 BPM, OCCASIONAL BRADYCARDIA MINIMUM HEART RATE 54 BPM, NO SIGNIFICANT PAUSE. Sir this above reading was in the month of June not todays. But today Doctor when he was holding my daddy hand to check his pulse he said Pulse frequent ectopic. And it's due to his old age and again changed the medicine from Rosufit CV to Rosuvas Gold. Sir I'm really worried because since June after he suffered paralytic stroke every month medicines are changing and I'm scared and worried. Sir as thyroid is borderline he is still advised to take thyronorm 12. 5 mcg and as it is just borderline and is that effecting his pulse? His thyroid is TSH is 5.07. Please tell me is there anything serious with my daddy's heath. Any serious heart or other problem will come or what? Not understanding just suffering. Please help. Thanking you.

Nothing much to worry. At his age, ectopics are quite common. The stroke could have been caused because of ectopics, as they alter hemodynamics of the blood vessels supplying the brain. Thus, the clot & paralytic stroke. Glad to learn he is recovering. He will be fine on these medications. Relax.

FOR YOUR MOM. Most of the time, underlying the thyroid disorder is years of abuse of our body. When you don't take proper care of your own nutrition, sleep and invest time for proper exercise, at some point various hormonal systems of body go out of sync. It is very important to have your thyroid hormones as tablets as per your doctor's prescription and periodic check up. And just doing it may reduce your weight little bit. But it will not be enough. You need to work on root cause of this issue. Avoid all junk food and all sweet food. Low fat diet does not work for majority of people. Eat wholesome nutritious food full of fibres, good quality fat like ghee and coconut etc. Don't focus on calories but on nutritional density and diversity. Simultaneously working on exercise and diet will surely help. Best rate to lose weight is 1/2 kg per week. If that happens, it is least likely to go high again in future. You do not have to do rigorous exercise to lose weight but start with something small. Let us say 8 minute workout. Go to you tube and type 8 minute workout and you will see many options. Pick one which you like and can do. Trying to lose weight in very short time will need some form of crash diet. Even if you lose weight doing this kind of crash diet, you will get it all back within no time and all the gain will be mainly fat. Not good for your health. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Demonstrate commitment in your persistent efforts. Make comprehensive change in diet, exercise, sleep and stress in your routine. This is called lifestyle medicine. If you can not do it on your own, find some expert who can help you in this over extended period of time. Best wishes.

How to Cope Up With Infertility?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Internship, MBBS
IVF Specialist, Delhi
The inability to conceive is a painful process among married couples and to deal with the problem is indeed a serious matter. According to reports, one in seven couple in India has fertility problems and sometimes the causes remain unknown. It is said around 10 percent of world’s population is struggling with some form of infertility. The number of people suffering from infertility is growing in India with each passing day, as per latest reports.
Infertility is defined when a couple is unable to conceive after six months to one year of trying despite having unprotected sexual intercourse frequently. There are various factors that contribute infertility. The latest research states, of every 100 couples reporting to fertility clinics, 40% are cases of male infertility, 50% are of women, and the remaining 10% of both partners being infertile. According to doctors, stress and infertility are co-related terms. Here are some of the points that will give you an idea how to find out the problems related with infertility.
Stress
Many couples become stressful after diagnosed with infertility. Women are more stressed than men. women of 32, working with an MNC, had experienced miscarriage due to stress. She could not get pregnant even after going through IVF treatment. Couples who are trying to get pregnant have additional stress.

Sleep disorder
Several studies indicate people who work in night shifts are affected more with infertility as compared to men working in day shifts. Their biological clock is poorly disturbed. These people usually sleep during the day. They damage their health further with smoking, caffeine and other drinks which they take during working hours in order to keep themselves awake. Stress at work, sitting for long hours, also contribute reduction in low sperm count.
Factors contributing to stress which causes infertility may also include marital disturbance, job or business stress, financial losses, personal injury or illness, death of a close family member and late marriage.
