I had Gout problem in past. Is it fine to consume BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acid) supplements? Will it create more harm than good? Should I consult a doctor before adding it to my daily routine?

No role just take your medicines regularly, and keep uric acid below 6 hi gout is a very severe disease, it affects joints, heart and kidneys. Most people forget that uric acid which deposits in joints can deposit in heart and kidneys too. So basically besides most painful joints it can kill also. Also as disease progresses the arthritis spreads and can have a devastating effect (google gouty arthritis, gouty top, gouty joint, gouty erosions images). The treatment is very simple, but to be taken continuously. Also it is a widespread misconception that you should stop dals. Dals are very healthy source of protein, and they need not be stopped in gout. Gout is a very severe form of arthritis. It has acute and chronic phase. In acute phase requires immediate management in the form of certain drugs. Chronic phase requires treatment to prevent attacks and later lower uric acid. Most doctors treat intermittently, which is why it spreads, you should treat it continuously like diabetes or hypertension. The concept is simple keep uric acid below 6 or in severe cases 5. It can be achieved in most patients by a single tablet. Bringing uric acid from 10 to 7 is of no use because uric acid will keep on depositing as long it is above 6 attacks go gout can be treated with any form of therapy. But chronic gout requires a simple tablet in allopathy (like a single tablet in patients having high blood pressure), to prevent further attacks and prevent heart and kidney disease. No drug in ayurveda can do that.

Hi sir, Recently I was feeling pain in my lower leg and went to local doc for medicine and he prescribed test. I did x ray and ct scan of spine and it is found that disc space between L4 and L3 is reduced with lumber spondylitis tracing as per report. He prescribed me only physiotherapy. Please guide me severity of disease and possibility of chronic. Also suggest me hospital for further treatment Regards.

Take IFT for 25 days @ 15 min per sitting then take ultrasonic therapy @ 12 min after that avoid water there 4 hrs use choamote do not sit on floor use LS spine good brace lie on hard area surface do not do sex now.

Hi my father is 54 years old and having pain in whole body and lower portion of leg is also swelling. It may be due to the viral. But in the beginning he had fever but from the last few days the pain is variable sometimes it doesn't occur. We are not able to understand the exact problem. Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

4 tips to minimize long-term knee damage and heal faster

- Correct muscular imbalance: Most overuse injuries of the knee develop gradually due to muscular imbalances and poor movement patterns. Your physiotherapist can show you corrective exercises to address the muscle imbalances and improve the way you move.
- Strengthen your hips: Strengthening your hips and improving core muscle strength will reduce the risk of adversely loading your knee joints. Stretching the muscles that attach into your hips/knees/ankles will also minimize compression of these joints. Your physiotherapist can show you how.

For your problem. Take green leafy vegetables more and more which is easy to digest. Do not eat fast food, junk food, spicy food, oily food, rice, potato etc which are heavy to digest. Take more water 3 litres in a day. Manage the stress and anger. Take milk with turmeric powder. Do not travel outside speciallly in winter and cold atmosphere.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.

10 years back I had injury near tail bone from then near tail bone there is a pain in sitting position. Pain has increased from 2 years. I have taken MRI SCAN 2 years back which shows nothing. What is the solution to the problem.

7 Ways To Treat Heel Spurs

Calcium is good for bones but it’s not so good when it displaces on the bone forming the underside of your heel, causing painful heel spurs. The pain caused by heel spurs can be either sharp or dull. It usually worsens after jogging or walking and is acute when people get out of bed in the morning.

Heel spurs may be in the form of small bony protrusions or irregular growths on the heel bone.

These are more often in men and women who are older. But that’s not all, anyone can get a heel spur and athletes especially runners are especially susceptible. When the heel is subjected to constant wear and tear, heel spurs can form.

How do heel spurs develop?

To protect the surrounding heel tissue from damage, cells that specialise in forming bone reach the spot and start depositing calcium. This leads to the formation of a heel spur over a period of months.

Heel spurs are painful, but not always. There are many cases where they go undiagnosed and are only detected by X-ray.

Causes

  1. Lopsided walking leading to excessive strain on the heel bone, ligaments and nerves
  2. Repeated running, jogging or jumping on hard surfaces
  3. Wearing poorly fitted shoes that lack appropriate arch support
  4. Obesity

7 Ways To Get Rid Of heel spurs

  1. Rest- Avoiding movement of the affected foot is a good way to reduce heel pain and stiffness. Massaging linseed and coconut oil onto the painful heel and then relaxing is even better.
  2. Baking soda- This is a good home remedy for heel spurs. Baking soda contains crystals that help reduce calcium deposits in the bottom of the heel bone. It also reduces pain and inflammation.
  3. Icing- Ice packs help reduce heel pain and control inflammation and swelling associated with heel spurs and also relaxes muscles.
  4. Anti-inflammatory medications- These medications relieve heel pain but they shouldn’t be used for longer periods as they can lead to gastrointestinal problems like leaky gut, bleeding and symptoms of an ulcer.
  5. Steroid injection- This provides some relief from the pain but if the injection is given wrongly, there can be nerve damage and the symptoms can get worse.
  6. Cryoultrasound- This is an innovative electro-medical device that uses cryotherapy and ultrasound therapy to treat pain. It reduces pain and spasms and improves blood circulation and cell renewal.
  7. Surgery- Surgery can be effective but only when it’s done at the right time. It’s also an expensive procedure. Heel spurs can form again after surgery if the patient continues the lifestyle that led to the problem. There are several complications associated with surgery too like nerve damage, infection, permanent numbness etc.

Because of the limitations of conventional therapies, people with heel spurs look for natural remedies for heel pain like using Epsom salts and supplementing with magnesium and vitamin B for nerve and bone formation.

Thank you for the query. Heel pain may arise due to a number of causes. One of the commonest being a calcaneal spur (a small bony projection from the heel bone, calcaneum). An x-ray ankle joint (lateral view) proves the diagnosis. You need to wear soft soled shoes and pain-killers like paracetamol may be used. Ice pack local application may be done. As per the details provided, your bmi is borderline (25.78 kg/m2), hence weight reduction may be useful. Increased uric acid may be a cause, but this is unlikely to affect both heels together. Nevertheless, you can get a serum uric acid done. Calcium and vitamin d supplements may help. Degenerative bone disease may be another cause. Please get in touch with an orthopaedic surgeon for further advice. Regards.

Backache is the commonest ailment. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan.
