My right arm has been hurting for the past two weeks now. The pain only occurs when I move my hand in a particular way else in a resting position it doesn't hurt. Guess I slept on my arm. The pain is like a nerve pull. What could be the reasons for the pain and what do you suggest?

Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. The pain can actually be due to muscular strain, or a soft tissue element. So Rest to affected part, Ice packs at home, physical therapy under supervision of a physiotherapist and gentle anti inflammatory medication like Tab Etoshine or Tab Paracetamol or whichever suits you should be sufficient to help you get rid of this pain, but it may take 2-3 weeks. Go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - greeva basti (specialized procedure for neck pains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your neck muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of neck. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. Avoid using big pillow. Do not read or use gadets while lying on bed. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.\

Hi I think you have suffering form postural problem. Just maintain proper posture, use ice compression on paraspinal muscle. And stretching of back muscle. Consult with me after 5days.

take property rest. take a little break during long-term bike riding. avoid forward bending and heavy lifting. avoid strenuous activity avoid heavy lifting and forward bending. take hot fermentation. do spinal strengthening excercise.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

What would help you may be a course of 10 days of physio in a clinic. You take. Will relieve your pain. Then slowlyand ift or ust. That will first reduce your pain and then start on exercises. Exercises have to be taught bu the physio. So tht yo the right you do it the right way. As of now start a hot water fermentation for our back. The pain will reduc slowly.

Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day.. .

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

You may have to strengthen your whole spine with good stretches from your neuro physiotherapist for pain have hot water and cold water fomentation thrice a day for 12 days of 15 minutes duration each time use firm even and hard mattress for sleep

Dear lybrate-user, backpain may causes due to many reasons. I suggest you to go for physiotherapy treatment. In this Inferential and ultrasonic therapy will be used with some strengthening excercises to reduce pain.

Apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation twice a day. Take mahayograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day. Take maharasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Avoid tea. Coffee. Junk food. Fermented food. Spicy food. Rice. Walk for atleast 30 minutes a day. Do pranayama early morning. Sleep for atleast 7 hrs per day.

This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Knee pain- reasons can be- * cold weather *sitting in inconvenient posture constantly, without changing your position or without movement, *wearing ill fitting sandals, *lack of exercise or *internal disorder like arthritis. Point to observe- * if you have difficulty in climbing stairs, take lift while going upstairs. If there is no lift, go up slowly. * if it is due to strain of games or injury, take rest. * if it is due to obesity, reduce weight. * if it is due to constant sitting at a particular posture, change posture and engage in slow walk. * walking regularly at slow pace without unduly straining helps as it improves blood circulation around knee and eases the joint. *you can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take rhustox 200---twice daily morning and evening and give feedback after 7 days

hello... this kind of headache may b due to many reasons. U can start with medicines 1. pathyadi kadha 2 table spoons twice a day with warm water 2. medha vati 2 tablets twice a day See that ur motions r cleared evryday. Avoid long time exposure to sun. Take proper sleep, food on regular timings.
