Homeopathic Remedies for Osteoporosis

A decrease in bone density leads to osteoporosis. In this condition, the bones become weak and brittle. Fractures are a common result of osteoporosis. Symptoms or signs do not show up until it is too advanced.
To maintain bone mass and slow the deterioration of the bone, a number of homeopathic medicines are available. Mild osteoporosis is easier to treat with homeopathy. In advanced cases, homeopathy can be taken along with conventional medicine for best results.

What are the best remedies for osteoporosis?

  1. For treating fractures in osteoporosis, the best natural homeopathic remedy is Symphytum officinale which helps in knitting/uniting the fractured bone by increasing the production of callous. When a bone is fractured and the surrounding tendons and ligaments of the bone also get severely damaged, the natural homeopathic medicine Ruta Graveolens is given. It also helps in mending the damaged bones, decreasing the pain, soreness and stiffness. If nerves get crushed between damaged vertebral bones, the pain can be managed by Hypericum perforatum. Silicea is prescribed when pus or fistula has formed at area of the fracture. If a patient is having troubles in assimilating calcium, Silicea can help to enhance digestive powers.
  2. Calcarea phosphorica, Phosphorus and Sulphur are used for treating the curvature of bones in patients with osteoporosis.
  3. For pain, patients of osteoporosis are given Calcarea fluorica. If there is pain in long bones and it gets worse during night time, patients are prescribed Syphilinum and Fluoric acid. Besides these natural homeopathic remedies, a diet filled with adequate vitamin D and calcium should be followed along with regular exercise.

I am not able to walk for long distances my foot pains what is my problem I m in trouble please help me.
Hello, you seem to have either feet strain or planter fascitis. Do contrast bath (hot and cold water fomentation in two buckets---1 minute each in hot and cold) for 15-20 minutes. And apply a pain killer gel. Take a pain killer tab for 5-7 days. Use a soft foot-were. Once the pain is controlled. Go to a physio. And learn exercises for feet. You will settle. Take care.

What preventive measure a person should take who is suffering rheumatoid arthritis in terms of food, exercise & so on.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Ra is a genetically predisposed inflammatory joint disease which actually requires a multi pronged strategy, it requires long term supervised care under supervision of a rheumatologist as far as medications goes. I am not aware that food has any influence on ra in allopathy, but you require a lot of general conditioning, abdominal strengthening and limb rom ex to prevent stiffness and deformities over a period of time. Also regular calcium and vitamin d intake is important as bones become progressively weak over a period of time. You should also do daily walks for 2-3 km in a day to keep your muscles and bones in good shape. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards

Dear, low back pain are often referred for physical therapy for four weeks as an initial conservative (nonsurgical) treatment option before considering other more aggressive treatments, including back surgery. The goals of physical therapy are to decrease back pain, increase function, and teach the patient a maintenance program to prevent future back problems. Common forms of physical therapy include: 1.Passive physical therapy (modalities), which includes things done to the patient, such as heat application, ice packs and electrical stimulation. For example, a heating pad may be applied to warm up the muscles prior to doing exercising and stretching, and an ice pack may be used afterward to sooth the muscles and soft tissues. OSee Physical Therapy: Passive PT (Modalities) for Back Pain 2.Active physical therapy, which focuses on specific exercises and stretching. For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy program. This article focuses on active physical therapy and exercise as a means to help recover from back problems and prevent or minimize future flare-ups of low back pain Low back pain has lasted between two and six weeks, or if there are frequent recurrences of low back pain, physical therapy is often recommended. Some spine specialists consider physical therapy sooner, particularly if the pain is severe. •Read more: Exercise and Back Pain In general, the goals of physical therapy are to decrease pain, increase function, and provide education on a maintenance program to prevent further recurrences. A physical therapy program for back pain usually has two components: 1.Passive physical therapy to help reduce the patient's pain to a more manageable level 2.Active exercises Passive Physical Therapy - Modalities Acutely, the physical therapist may focus on decreasing pain with passive physical therapy (modalities). These therapies are considered passive because they are done to the patient. Examples of modalities include: •Heat/ice packs •TENS units •Iontophoresis •Ultrasound.

Whenever I wash clothes and do some extra work. Severe pain on my hand occurs. I think it's on bones. What to do?

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT

Whenever I wash clothes and do some extra work. Severe pain on my hand occurs. I think it's on bones. What to do?
Hand pain can be caused by anything from a trapped nerve to an underlying disease such as arthritis. If the pain persists even after resting your hand and taking painkillers, or if you have other symptoms and are uncertain of the cause, please consult a orthopedic or physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your pain. In the meantime try few self care: use rest, ice, compression, and elevation (rice) for pain and swelling. Avoid sleeping on your hands, which may decrease blood flow to your fingers. Stop, change, or take a break from your activities.
