Hello doctors. I do eat a lot of bread and junk food. I do get stomach infection often. But it never lasts for more than a week. This time around though its been a month and its not cured. I have taken several medicines from local docs but it has not helped. I still feel mild pain in left part of my stomach. Also I don't drink too much water because I need to use the washroom after every half an hour. And my job profile doesn't permit that. Please suggest a solution to both my problems. The number of tests that I have done including urine, Stool, Hiv, X rays or for that matter sonography have always come normal. Sometimes there have been puss cells in urine which I understand is because of drinking less water. Please help. Thanks.
I am 21 year old boy and having acne from since 6 years. They are only on my cheeks. They are always reddish without any pus. please tell me the precautions to prevent them and medicines to cure them.
Abdominal pain also referred to as stomach ache mainly appears in the pelvic and chest regions. The pain can be dull, crampy, sharp or recurrent. It occurs mainly due to a disease or inflammation that affects the abdominal organs. It is very important to seek the assistance of a doctor, especially if the pain is severe and is associated with pain in the chest and trauma or injury. It is not necessary that the pain in the lower abdomen be a cause of alarm, but it is essential to know the cause of the pain.
Symptoms of Abdominal Pain
- Belly ache is not something one should get worried about, but if the pain radiates downwards from the chest it could be a sign of heart attack. If chest pain radiate to left arm or back then think of cardiac and rarely pancreatitis ( especially for radiation to back).
- In case the symptom is accompanied by lightheadness or shortness of breath, it is very important that the doctor is contacted immediately.
- To avoid serious medical conditions, it is best to avoid pain killers as the symptoms would get hidden and the cause of pain would be difficult to identify.
What are the Main Causes of Abdominal Pain?
- The major organs of the abdomen include the stomach, gall bladder, small and large intestines, kidneys, liver, pancreas, appendix and spleen.
- Significant abdominal pain is caused mainly due to bacterial, parasitic and viral infections that affect the abdomen.
- The abdominal pain could be caused due to inflammation, intestinal disorders and blockages.
- The other common reasons that can produce pain in the lower right abdomen include diarrhea, constipation, stress, vomiting, stomach flu, and acid reflux.
- In the case of acid reflux the contents of the stomach go back into the esophagus and cause symptoms such as heartburn.
Common Causes of Pain in the Abdominal Region
The most common cause of abdominal pain is constipation, which is caused by difficulty in the digestive tract to push the waste out of the body. Severe pain in the lower abdominal area can rupture the organs and result in appendix. Infection in the kidney or occurrence of stones in the gallbladder can also cause pain in the abdominal region. Pain in the abdomen can also be caused by different types of cancer.
Some of the causes of abdominal pain are life threatening and therefore it is important to consult a doctor if the pain persists or lasts for a few days. It has been observed that even a heart attack can cause pain in the upper abdominal region or even cause back pain. Immediate medical attention should be sought in cases where the patient has fever, severe pain, weight loss, persistent vomiting and nausea, swelling of the abdomen and severe tenderness on touching the abdomen.

I my sex drive has decreased to almost nil. Having no erection and morning erection is not there since 3 days. When I used to get erection it was very weak. I'm having fatty liver as diagnosed my doctor. I'm feeling weak, upper right lid of eye is moving on its own since many day, hand and feet get tingling feeling and numbness and 10% of my finger nail has changed color. Previously I had water dabbing feeling from penis which smelled like urine and semen due to over masturbation. Will get my erection back? I'm worried.
I am having a joint pain (arthritis). I have consulted many doctors but all in vain. My pain still persists. Is operation is only way to get rid of this pain? What is Navigation Machine? What difference does it makes if one is not operated through navigation machine?
Breasts are integral to womanhood. They define a woman’s beauty. Well grown, firmer breasts are what every woman dreams of. However, not many women are lucky enough to have the perfect shape and size of breasts. A common belief among people is that bigger the size of the breasts, the better they are. This is a big misconception. The ideal breast size is the one that is in proportion to the rest of the body. Bigger breasts do not look good on women with smaller structure and are also prone to sagging. Apart from a disproportionate figure, many women with larger breasts complain of backache, neck and shoulder pain due to the physical burden born by the upper body. Hence, the need for a medical intervention. Such women can consider breast reduction as a permanent solution to their problem.
Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is a procedure that reduces the size of the breasts through surgical removal of tissues, fat and skin, thereby making it ideal as per the body structure. The procedure is performed under the guidance of a trained aesthetic plastic surgeon and takes about three to five hours.
Hospital admission is usually required and a general anesthesia is given to the patient. Healing of wounds may take a few days. Breast reduction surgery also deals with issues of sagging breasts and helps them give an uplifted and firmer appearance. Another advantage of this surgery is that it can reduce the size of areola making the breasts appear younger and better.
Like any other surgery, reduction mammaplasty is not free of side effects. There are risks associated and one has to carefully weigh the risks and benefits before taking this decision. It can cause complications like excessive bleeding and adverse anesthesia reactions. Apart from this, some of the common side effects of this surgery are loss of sensation in the nipples and areola, inability to breastfeed and scarring. Sometimes, the procedure may need to be repeated in case there is a visible asymmetry in the size of both the breasts.
In general, women considering this option are overweight, have no plans to bear children in future and are suffering from heaviness and pain in upper part of the body due to larger breasts. However, many women desire to improve their appearance. Cosmetic market delivers many new gels and creams for breast reduction, claiming them to be simpler and safer than surgery, but their effectiveness is doubtful. Women looking for a more permanent solution may consider a surgical procedure. However, following the surgeon’s instructions is important pre as well as post-surgery. If you are worried about the size of your breasts, do visit a plastic surgeon and discuss your options. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.
