I am a diabetic patient and I am feeling very week. Day by day I loosing my weight. Can you suggest what I have to do.
In people with diabetes, insufficient insulin prevents the body from getting glucose from the blood into the body's cells to use as energy. When this occurs, the body starts burning fat and muscle for energy, causing a reduction in overall body weight add 500 calories a day to your current calorie level.The calories you add to your diet should come from all the macronutrient groups: carbohydrate, protein and healthful fat. Healthy carbs-- whole grains vegetables berries nuts legumes seeds Eat more often: fit in at least two to three snacks per day.Eat six small meals a day instead of three bigger meals Opt for heart healthy fats — such as sunflower seed oil — whenever you can. Adding a portion of healthy fat to each of your meals can help you gain weight without tacking on empty calories. Some options include: avocado olive oil canola oil nuts seeds fatty fish, such as salmon and mackerel Protein is necessary for maintaining muscle mass. Good sources include: fish chicken beans soy eggs

Hi - you can practise surianamaskar. daily early morning. also need low fat low carbohydrates around 1400kcal diet plan.

Your problem may or may not be related to diabetes. Keep your sugar under control with proper medication, diet and exercise Take vitamin supplements if required Consult your doctor if problem not solved For further query book an appointment.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. For fluctuation of blood glucose main reason is either inadequate dose of insulin or improper intake of food. If patient does not follow the specified restrictions in relation to food intake, then there will be variation in glucose. Treatment of diabetes needs a combination of appropriate dosage of drugs, diet restriction and regular exercise with weight control. Thanks.

Hello, you can take homoeopathic medicines 1. Urtica urens 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week. 2. Causticum 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week and update. Keep a gap of 15 - 20 minutes in both the medicines.

Hello lybrate your bmi- 33.6 you want to loss wt. Daily walk/ cycling/ exercise/ yoga/ aasan a sugary diet, caffeine and refined carbohydrates. Such foods can burn the thyroid and destabilize your blood sugar. Some foods are avoid soy products cruciferous vegetables. Gluten. Gluten is compound of glutein and gliadin proteins include in diet whole grains based foods complex carbs. Flaxseeds, extra virgin oils.

I am Suffering from thyroid. My height is 5feet 5 inch and weight is 84kg. How should I loose weight?
Mr. Lybrate-user, first thing is hypothyroidism has to be under control. For that tsh levels should be between 3 to 4 milli units /ml. Plus you have to exercise daily for more than 1 hour. Diet has to be properly planned giving exact calories based on ideal body weight (height in cms - 100 = kgs, 65 kgs), your bmi is 30.88 kg/m2 showing grade 1 obesity. First get hypothyroidism n good control and then work on your weight.

Dear sir, Few days back I diagnosed with thyroid TSH 14.02 and I consulted in AIIMS delhi and they told me to take "thyronorm 75 mcg" I started the medicine and I have headache whole day and heat is generating inside body. And earlier it was not when I was not taking medicine. And I took medicine for around a week and then I again tested my tsh level it reduced to 6.33 So sir please suggest me what to do? Should I continue with 75 mcg?

Hello, Thanks for the query. TSH 14.02 mU/L shows presence of hypothyroidism. Therefore, Thyroxine was recommended as a treatment. It is difficult to understand how TSh can be reduced in one week. Because it takes over 4 to 6 weeks for TSH level to change after correct treatment. Either the first or the second TSH value has to be incorrect. If you have hypothyroidism (which may be confirmed by one more Thyroid Function Test from a good lab), then only treatment is to take appropriate dose of Levothyroxine. Thanks.

1. Avoid exposure to cold 2. Take bath with little warm water 3. Do steam inhalation regularly at least once a day 4. Warm salt water gargles daily 5 no cold water / cold drinks / ice creams and so on 6. No smoking 7. Wash hands after use of bath room and before and after eating food. 8 more warm liquids 9.
