Dear lybrateuser, - Avoid movement of the thumb till pain subsides - do warm water fomentation twice a day - apply pain relief gel three times a day - take a pain relief tablet after meals if pain is more - do an x-ray of the area to rule out any other problem.

Not all patients of backache & pain joints need surgery. Most of them can be managed without operation morning stiffness in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

From 2 days I'm suffering from back pan. I was doing something work, sudden I feel something wrong in back. Please suggest.

As per your complain it seems there is sudden strain in your back muscles. Not to worry. Let me help you with some precautions and treatment that will help you to recover soon. Precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your basck like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the inter vertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. Physio care: I would recommend you for I-care treatment that is especially for back or neck pain. Rest required but it doesn't mean a complete bed rest. Do not over exert your body. Work take rest and then work so that you do not feel tired and started paining. Treatment- 1. Apply ice or heat which ever suits you directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2.Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Massage - Ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage again relax for 5 min and apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area and consult your near by physio to diagnose the actual cause of the pain as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your back pain. I want to know your mother's detailed clinical history as to her duration of pain, mode of onset, any event like any injury which you remember, your relevant investigations like x rays etc, your treatment records till now. It helps me to better understand your condition and prescribe accordingly. Normally shoulder may start showing changes of degeneration like arthrosis, degenerative tears, adhesive capsulitis etc. Also if it is localized shoulder pain, intensive physical therapy along with supplementation of calcium and vitamin d in appropriate doses can be helpful. I have got a swollen knee, didn't pay much attention before, but now feel a little pain while sitting down.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem.

I am 20 years old. I have backache continuously. I cant sleep properly. Wat to do?

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It may have to be further investigated. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then inform again.

Tail bone pain also known as coccydynia is due to trauma or repeated microtrauma. Esp in people with prolonged sitting jobs. Dear lybrate user. You should use doughnut pillow (tyre tube line for sitting) and sitz bath daily. Follow these measures for 1 month. If no relief, then consult a pain physician where you might be advised ganglion impar block take care.

.this back pain is due to no back exercise.... due to this muscle get stiff .... when suddenly you get move fast that time this stiff muscle get break and pain start..... in ayurved there is mentioned one procedure KATI BASTI ....DO THIS FOR FIVE DAYS WITH MEDICATED OIL if you want to do it you should do it under doctor observation .... so consult ayurvedic doctor near you ... you will definitely get good result ..

Eat iron nd calcium rich diet. Like hv an apple daily. Tke tomato carrot nd spinach soup. Add papaya, pomegranate banana in diet. Also can take chakunder as salad.

I have been suffering from multiple joint pains including shoulder joint, elbow, hip joint, knee. Its been going on for 3 weeks now. I have taken anti inflammatory almost daily and oral steroids for past 10 days. My ESR has come down from 55 to 36. My glucose and uric acid levels are normal. CRP is positive RA factor is negative. But in mornings its still very painful to walk and stiff joints. What shall I do next?

Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the knee against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Hot Fomentation. Gentle Shoulder Stretching. Core Strengthening Exercises. Gentle Neck Exercises.
