If it is repeated burping or belching immediately after meals, one possibility is that you swallow lots of air while you take your food. This can be reduced if one take food at leisurely pace. Generally eating at faster pace make us swallow air without our knowledge. Try being gentle to that speed of eating. And you will be benefited.

Dry rough hands in winter

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dry rough hands in winter
If your hands are suffering, try these tips to make them more comfortable.
Avoid soap if you can. Avoid formulas with synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and sulfates, as these are all drying. Foaming and antibacterial types are also likely to strip your skin of its own natural fats and oils. Choose moisturizing cleansers instead, and be sure you rinse thoroughly.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. After each and every wash, moisturize your hands. Carry moisturizer with you. Try our Coconut Body Oil—it absorbs easily, so you won’t feel greasy, and soothes skin damaged from the sun.
Avoid hot-air dryers. There are becoming more and more popular because they save money and the environment, but they can easily dry-out your hands. Pat-dry with some toilet paper or simply shake dry, then put on your lotion!
Wear gloves. You may already do this, but sometimes we forget. The best treatment is always prevention, so whether you’re out on the job, gardening, or simply washing the dishes, gloves will help protect your hands from damage. Avoid vinyl ones, however, as they can make skin even more dry. Use cotton and leather.
Exfoliate. We have learned to exfoliate our faces, but we often neglect our hands. Yet the skin on the hands—especially on the back of them—is thin, fragile, and even more susceptible to damage than some areas of the face. Exfoliating helps you get rid of old, dry, dull skin cells so the newer, fresher ones can take their place. If you’re severely dry and calloused, try a pumice stone after bathing. If you’re dry but have sensitive skin, try our Dead Sea Facial Scrub—it’s equally effective for hands. You can also put about 1-2 tablespoons of sugar in your hands, add in some olive oil, and rub both the front and back of your hands to loosen up that dry, dull skin. Use 1-4 times a week, depending on your skin’s needs, and always apply a moisturizing lotion immediately afterwards.
Wear gloves to bed. Damaged hands need serious moisturization, so it’s time to deep-treat overnight. Apply a super thick moisturizer like our Coconut Honey Mask, some jojoba oil, or vitamin E, then go soak in the bath or the sauna, or better yet, put on some cotton gloves or wool socks and go to bed. You can also try placing Ziploc bags around your hands with rubber bands around your wrists to lock in the moisture. Rinse off in the morning.
Use a humidifier. Particularly in the winter and in dry climates, a humidifier can be a lifesaver when it comes to your skin. The most important place to have one is in your bedroom, so you can take advantage of it while you sleep.
Invest in some pure aloe. This natural substance is a miracle worker when it comes to healing wounds and providing moisture. Especially if your hands are sunburned, cracked, or bleeding, use aloe to encourage faster healing.
Bathe in oats. Cooked or raw oats are great healers for chapped hands. Add it to your bathwater, or mix it up with some warm olive or jojoba oil in a basin and soak your hands in it for 10-15 minutes.
Pure coconut oil. This stuff is magic for skin because of its unique combination of fatty acids. Apply it directly onto skin and wear gloves for the best results.

Hello, I want to know which vaccination is better for my baby painful or painless. Regards.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS

Hello, I want to know which vaccination is better for my baby painful or painless. Regards.
The painless vaccine has currently lost favour in view of the increasing number of children detected to have got the disease inspite of vaccination. The efficacy and duration of effectiveness is lesser . Hence these days it is advocated to use the painful vaccine, unless the child had had very severe side effects earlier, or has a history of fever induced convulsions.

I have hair fall and having curled hair since 6-7 months and what's the solution for reducing or probably stop this?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I have hair fall and having curled hair since 6-7 months and what's the solution for reducing or probably stop this?
Hi. It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg, eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin), different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regularly massage head and hair with coconut oil, almond oil (depending upon your scalp type) 1 to 3 times a week. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you fit and young! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week. After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, you can take one tablet of multivitamin Folli Hair once daily for 1 month.

I am 21 yrs, 78 kgs, gym going whether it's advisable to take protein supplements. Do they have side effects.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Pediatric Nutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding, PG Dietetics
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
There is a need for you to gain only 2kgs more with regards to your ideal body weight. In case you are non vegetarian there is no requirement for protein supplements, as the need for protein can be meet with the non veg food groups. For vegetarians some amount is required for muscle building. Overboard of protein supplements does have an side effects on your kidney.

I am 33 years, male. My anxiety level increases. Whenever I am stress out or concentrate on something. Head becomes heavy. Is there any cure for this?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Yes, there is a cure. Your stress management skills are poor and with some counseling you could lessen the burden on your response to fear. Anxiety has all to do with fear and your inability (or so you would tend to think) to handle the same. Fear is based on looking too much into the future and imagining things that usually do not tend to happen (usually 90% of your fears will not happen). You need to change your perception of the fearful stimulus then you can change your response to the fear. The first one is the best and will preempt the need for the second. If you are already far gone into the reaction mode, then you need both responses to counter the attack. The way we see things in life (like half empty or half full glass) is very dependent on our attitude. Attitude may have developed over many years but fortunately can change in a matter of sustained choices made and acted up on now. Accordingly you choose to see things as either threatening or as an opportunity. The opportunist will be positive and work with the situation to make good out of it. The individual who sees it as threatening, will, out of fear, try to avoid/run away from the situation or react with anxiety. Yes, self-belief does impact it too, but you can see that prior to that, perception will tarnish the belief system too. Here, you can see that all the resolution lies in just changing your perception/attitude, even if it is against odds. Changing your response, despite the perception, is building up of your reserves and resources to handle any contingency that life throws up at you. And life throws up situations quite regularly and heavily. For this you need to develop a fit mind and body: The former, by meditation and mind exercises; and the later, by exercises and proper diet. You need good sleep too. Included in the development of the mind is the handling of emotions, in your case, fear. These changes will give you a handle on life and your perceptions and responses. Prayer is really powerful, if you are a spiritual person. Repeat some personally framed affirmations that are geared to calming you down and building confidence. Do a personality course too. Anything that develops you personally will be of great assistance in building resilience.
