Hello. I am 20 year old. I got pain on my legs days before period and during period. It feels like my legs are neutral at that time. Because of this I can't walk at that time. What could be the problem? And normal days I don't feel any time of pain on my legs.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine cimicifuga 200 once daily in the morning commencing 5 days before expected date of menses and give feedback after 6 days.

Your follicular monitoring has to be done and when hcg injection is being given then follicle rupture occurs within next 36 hrs and you are supposed to have intercourse during that very time in increased frequency for next 3-4 days to increase chances of pregnancy

    1. Almond oil: This oil is a natural moisturiser with vitamins in it. This oil is very gentle in nature and helps in preventing damage to the lips making them soft and supple. It is a good idea to heat up the oil before application. Warming it up will increase the rate of absorption, thus providing desired results.

  2. Curing chapped lips using fruits and vegetables
    1. Cucumber: Cucumber has water content of up to 90 percent approximately. Placing cucumber slices on chapped lips for 10 to 15 minutes, for several times can cure chapped lips.
    2. Avocado: Rich in antioxidants, this natural remedy provides the required vitamins that produce elastin as well as collagen to cure dry lips. It can also be used as an anti-ageing remedy.

Did You Know - Sitting for Too Long can Kill You

General Physician, Bangalore
Did You Know - Sitting for Too Long can Kill You

Although this might come as bit of a shock for most of you, the habit of sitting, acquired or inherent can lead to a lot of physical complications. Even with adequate exercise, the practice or compulsion to sit for too long, more than six hours at a stretch to be scientifically precise, can prove to be fatal. Or in a sense, it can at least have a detrimental effect on your life span.

Studies have revealed that sitting in front of the television for an hour if you’re above 25, can lessen your life expectancy by 22 minutes. The process might take effect sooner than you think, with the development of myriad complications such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, various forms of cancer, digestive problems and other orthopedic disorders of the waist and backbone. This becomes precarious, especially for those affiliated to professions that facilitate no mobility or those leading a sedentary lifestyle by choice.

If you are engaged in a desk job which involves a lot of sitting around for long hours, you should be worried about the ills that come along with it. Besides ophthalmological disorders, obesity, painful and stiff joints, sitting can also induce further serious problems involving the heart. To avoid this, make sure you take regular breaks to get up and walk at regular intervals, a little bit of neck and stretching exercises that is affordable in the given space. Avoid sitting on your rear for more than half of the day at all costs.

Standing in a fully upright posture burns a lot of calories, so even simply standing after a period of prolonged sitting can prove beneficial. For instance, it is advisable to watch the last ten minutes of a show or match standing up. Evening walks and morning walks are a good practice to lessen the amount of time spent on the chair. Regular and habitual jogging or running regimens help in getting you out of the infamous couch potato syndrome. Make sure you sit in a correct and erect posture while working on the computer or watching the television. Avoid long hours of prolonged sitting in front of these devices at home, especially if you are already compelled to do so at office. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a the doctor and ask a free question.

Hello sir, I am 6 pregnant. Every month my weight increases by 1kg. But from fifth to sixth month it increases by 3 and half kg. Is it abnormal?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
There is around 11 kg weight gain during pregnancy. During the first three months of pregnancy, women should gain only 1-2 kg. From the beginning of your fourth month until you give birth for your existing weight of 54 kg, you should gain 400gm/week. 3 and half kg increase is not normal. It can be related to your diet as usually till 6 months, blood pressure or diabetes does not cause increase in weight.

My wife had a miscarriage on last november. Now we found out that she is pregnant. Her last periods was on aug 7. What precautions we should take for a successful pregnancy. Should she take any progesterone supplements as a safety measure.

Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, Please visit your obstetrician regularly according to her advise. Usually you will be advised to undergo some blood test and U/S scan after 5-6 weeks of pregnancy. Your doctor will decide the medicines needed to be taken by you. Be under bed rest till 12 weeks of pregnancy. Report to your doctor immediately if there any abdominal pain or p/v bleeding. Take nutritious diet and be relaxed.

Hello Mam, mera period irregular rahta h medicine lene par hota h jab tak medicine le thik rahta h bad me fir se problem start ho jata h.Ye harmonal imbalance ke Karan hota h please irregular period ke liye koi medicine bataye.

Homeopath, Secunderabad
Please do not depend only on medicines for corrections of your menstrual problems. Be proactive and start investing time and efforts to exercise everyday. Sedentary habits and lack of exercise can lead to exaggeration of many problems. Start with mild exercise like walking everyday for 30 minutes. Do yoga which is very effective in balancing the hormonal problems. Eat only healthy food and avoid all junk food. Sleep for 7-8 hrs daily. A good sleep is important for the body to naturally boost the immunity and balance the hormonal secretions. Give some time for the body to naturally get tuned-in. If needed you can add Homeopathy in future for your problems as it is safe and gentle, and is based on holistic approach towards health. The Homeopathic medicines are given after a detailed case history. You can contact me whenever you want help.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Bleeding can stop after 2 days, but as you said belly size is increasing, your doctor should be told about this as in rare cases blood instead of coming out can get collected in the uterus causing increase in belly size.

Vertigo and role of physiotherapist

Physiotherapist, Gurgaon
Vertigo and role of physiotherapist
Vertigo and role of physiotherapist.

Vertigo is a type of dizziness where you feel like the world is spinning. Nausea and vomiting are common and you may feel unsteady. Often vertigo is eased by lying down and made worse by sitting up or moving. It's not the same as simply feeling faint, dizzy or lightheaded when getting up. Vertigo can be very disabling.

Causes of vertigo

Vertigo can have many causes. The most common is from a disturbance of the vestibular system, the part of the inner ear and brain that controls balance and maintains eye focus during movement. Special sensors in the inner ear send messages back to the brain that help you maintain balance and focus. Common causes for vestibular system problems include:

Illness or disease
Certain medications
Head trauma (e. G, car accidents, falls, impact sports)
Ear infections (neuritis, labyrinthitis)
Stroke and/or brain injury

How physiotherapists help

Physiotherapists specifically trained to assess and treat vestibular problems are highly skilled at treating vertigo caused by vestibular problems. Research demonstrates vestibular rehabilitation improves balance, decreases dizziness/vertigo symptoms and increases general activity levels.

Getting an accurate diagnosis is important for effective treatment. If your condition is suitable for vestibular rehabilitation, your physiotherapist may include one or all of the following:

Balance retraining exercises
Specific exercises for the vestibular system
Special repositioning maneuver for vertigo caused by the crystals in the inner ear becoming stuck
Monitor progress and continually challenge the vestibular, visual and balance systems
Home program of individualized vestibular exercises

Often improvement or complete resolution of symptoms can be achieved within 6-8 weeks.

Your physiotherapist will:

Take a careful history to determine the type of vertigo
Screen for conditions requiring medical follow-up
Assess your balance and co-ordination
Complete a full examination of your nervous system
Test your vestibular system using special eye and head movement testing

Gynaecologist, Aurangabad
Hi lybrate-user, period could be delayed because of multiple reasons like pregnancy, ovarian cyst, hormonal imbalance, stress. In your case rule out pregnancy with urine pregnancy test first as condoms has failure chances of 5% 5hen think for other causes.
