Dear lybrate-user, you are already taking nexito plus for panic disorder. If it is not effective, you need to add either cognitive therapy or panic based psychodynamic psychotherapy. Both of them take 12 20 weekly sessions. Why don't yo come on private consultations?

Dear Madam, thank you for writing in. Please meet a psychiatrist at the earliest. Even if the depression is due to life condition and the life condition does not change, still, treatment of depression can make a world of change. Some of the things that you can do at home are: Start a regular exercise program; eat and sleep at regular times, go out and meet people even if you don't feel like; practice yoga and meditation; spend time on your earlier hobbies even if initially you don't feel like doing so. These suggestions might seem simple, but trust me, they will make a huge difference if you implement them regularly and whole-heartedly. Also get a general health check up done because stress of this kind can often worsen existing or precipitate new medical conditions. Also, pre-existing medical conditions can induce depression in this manner. Take care!

Dear Lybrate user. Phimosis is a congenital narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases you can clear the problem yourself. Phimosis could cause moderate to severe pain while having vaginal intercourse. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. In case if there is no result from the above massage, you can always go for a minor surgical procedure called circumcision. Take care.

The Silent Signs of Gum Disease

Overall oral health consists of health of both the soft and the hard tissues in the mouth. While teeth are the hard tissues, the soft tissues include the lips, tongue, cheek, palate, and most importantly the gums. The gums or the periodontium (perio - around, dont - tooth) surrounds the tooth and provides nutritional support and structural support with its connective tissue. The gums are the unsung heroes in maintaining a healthy set of teeth.

It is common observation that dental decay is more attended to than gum disease.  The symptoms associated with decay, be it discoloration, food lodgment, sensitivity, and sometimes pain are a lot more demanding.

The bad news is that the same bacteria have a harmful effect on the gums too. The good news is that gum disease also (like tooth decay), takes time to develop. The bacteria in the mouth and the plaque are the main initiators of gum disease too. It is more innocuous and not immediately attended to, sometime even gets ignored for years until it become severe and mandates treatment. Certain medical conditions like pregnancy, diabetes, stroke, etc., lead to greater severity of the gum disease.

Chronic gum or periodontal disease, if left untreated, can even lead to multiple tooth loss and require dentures much earlier than required. It is not difficult to diagnose gum disease as the symptoms are quite easy to identify, including

  • Red, swollen, or painful gums:  As with any infection, redness and swelling and pain are the first symptoms of gum disease too.
  • Spontaneous bleeding of gums: The gums can look spongy and puffed and can sometimes bleed without even a touch
  • Chronic bad breath: The bacteria are constantly acting on the food debris to produce acid, leading to a bad breath (halitosis)
  • Pressure on the gums can produce pus: Cumulative infection can lead to gingival abscess
  • Bad taste in the mouth: If there is an abscess, it will discharge pus into the mouth, leading to this metallic taste
  • Gingival recession, where the tooth appears to have grown longer. The gum line recedes from its original place, exposing more of the tooth.  This also causes greater sensitivity, especially to hot or cold foods
  • Slight loosening of the teeth (in severe cases) as the fibers loosen their hold around the tooth.
  • Painful chewing, it puts extra pressure on the fibers of the periodontium.

Some people are more prone for gum disease than others. The risk factors include smoking, increased 
female hormones, and chronic illnesses like diabetes and cancer.

Management: Regular visits to the dentist can help identify these at an early stage and manage both progression and severity. Additionally, managing risk factors like smoking and chronic illnesses also is helpful.

You could be depressed. Can you identify with what happened two years ago that has led to this change? it is very important that you get into a routine by which I mean you need to follow a disciplined lifestyle. Please visit with a counselor first and that person will check how intense your situation is and decide whether you need medication also. Whatever happens, do not discontinue your therapy with the counselor. You must also work on your emotions and learn to express them appropriately. I suspect you have some deep-rooted anger that needs to be dealt with. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend yoga classes etc. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. I hope you can find someone to love and be loved too. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings. Don? t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Get into a healthy routine, and do some fixed activities that are interesting, and involve people in your life every day.

From past few weeks I facing hair loss what should I try to get rid of hair loss.
This is happening due to increased conversion of testosterone to dht and reduced nutrition to scalp and hair follicles. Thus, hair become weak from their roots (follicles) and acclerate hair fall. The good news is that this is easily treatable with ayurvedic tablets. These tablets block conversion of testosterone to dht. At the same time, these tablets nourish hair follicles making hair strong and prevent hair fall. Please let me know if you have any other disease or abnormal symptoms. Hye, Thanks for the query. Being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition. Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight: Eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals.Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, rice and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes. Snack on nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of cake or ice cream is fine. But most sweets should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Sheera, lassi and chikki are good choices. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite. Supplementation will help only if your diet is good.

Hello, I am 30 years old and I am dealing with a kind of weak memory problem since some months. The main problem it seems to me is I forget the things which I read and can't keep it in the brain for a longer period, this leads to repetitive reading. I used masturbate some months before after watching videos but latter on came out of it and again focused on the studies but this problem has started then! the brain is feeling as if it's numb. Thanks for your query. First of all we have to understand what your background education is and what you are studying. For eg if we take an occupational steno or a mathematicians who knows nash theory and ask him to study medicine books he will not only be aversive to it but also will find it difficult to grasp the knowledge ideas and concepts. A hell router programmer cannot understand cloud paradise programmimg. Not everyone can study all subjects. Only some subject s can be read by all people. Therefore choose a subject that suits your background not your routine. Thats the badic problem. Also you will continue to masturbate as per your background. That is something you can avoid even if you feel you don't know that person much really. The idea here is to rectify your background as per what you are and really want to be and act accordingly. Hi to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Uric acid: normal values in the blood: men 3.5 to 7.0 mg/dl women 2.5 to 5.7 mg/dlwatch your weight. Try to lose weight slowly. Eat fresh fruit, vegetables, whole wheat products and some pulses (high in purine) every day. Enjoy low-fat milk and dairy products daily. Keep an eye on the purine content of food. Avoid offal, shellfish and crustaceans and tinned fish such as sardines in oil. Eat no more than 100g of meat, sausages, fish and poultry a day. Drink alcohol only occasionally, as it affects the elimination of uric acid. Eat low-fat food. The consumption of high-fat foods encourages weight gain. Drink at least two litres of low-calorie fluids a day. Recommended fluids are water, tea and fruit juice. To help with practical diet planning, it can help to gain advice from a qualified dietician. They will be able to clarify any questions you have and healthily and effectively reduce your values.
