Recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure Alzheimer’s disease. Is this true? If so, which foods do this and how much would you have to consume to get the benefits?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Solapur
There are certain foods that can help in avoiding onset of alzheimers dementia. Foods containing high levels of anti oxidants and omega acids are beneficial in general for nervous system. But in case of advanced cases of alzheimers, along with healthy lifestyle and good food habits, medications are necessary. Currently there is no evidence of complete cure of alzheimers either by medications or with use of any particular food items. Currents medications however prolong the progress of illness and improves quality of life for the patients.

Climbing up and down stairs requires enormous efforts by the body and the heart needs to pump more blood to your limbs to make them work. It is a normal phenomenon and is exaggerated in old age. I would advise you not to use stairs too much. Drunk lot of fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Move your ankles and feet before you get up from during our lying position, in order to pull back blood from your lower limbs to your heart. Regards.

your headache can be migrain. For that do this 1. Take adequate night sleep 2. Eat at regular intervals. As starvation/gas can trigger migrain 3. Avoid things that can trigger migrain. Common triggers include alcohol, caffeine or poor sleep. Inculcate good sleep practices like having a regular bedtime schedule and avoiding naps, caffeine and TV before bedtime. 4. Don't take stress- Pursue an enjoyable activity or verbalising frustration to reduce stress and improve mental health. 5. Avoid foods that you know triggers your migrain. 6. Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect 7. Drink water. “Dehydration can be a big cause of headaches,” For pain get X-RAy of cervical spine done For more details you can consult me.
