MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Yamunanagar
Dear Please visit a good Oral Surgeon (a specialist dental surgeon) or any good medical or dental college or institute to first get the diagnosis (reason) of your condition. Please do not try to vague ideas to treat yourself, as until the cause is known there would be no treatment. This can be simple dehydration or may be the starting of some serious disease. I am not trying to scare you, just that I want you to know the cause of this, which may be insignificant also. For the time being take lots of water to keep your body hydrated. Good Luck, God Bless and Take Care.

Dear docs, I am 23 years. I have always dental problems. Most of my teeth are damaged. I brush twice, but teeth are getting fastly damaged, with black dots, unhealthy teeth also. Is it any vitamin problem doc?

The black dots in your teeth can be stains or cavities. Please visit a dentist to understand what is the level of damage to the teeth. Also, brushing is to prevent cavities; it cannot treat it. From your symptoms, cannot abstain if any vitamin deficiency.

If a Back Tooth Is Lost, Will You Miss It?

If a Back Tooth Is Lost, Will You Miss It?

According to studies, the majority of the world population has at least one missing tooth, when it comes to dental health. Usually, one of the back teeth is missing. Most people do not care about a missing tooth as it is not visible and does not affect one's image. However, a missing back tooth is a matter of concern, and it matters. This is because of the tooth's function and also because bone loss occurs when a back tooth is lost.

Wisdom Tooth: Wisdom tooth or 3rd molar extraction The wisdom teeth, also known as the third molars, are the final set of molars to erupt. Not everyone keeps these teeth, nor are they necessary for having a healthy, beautiful smile. In fact, they can cause harm if they do not come in properly. When these molars come in, usually between the ages of 16 and 20, there may not be enough room left for them to erupt. As a result, they can emerge at an angle, they may crowd the mouth and sometimes they don't fully emerge. This can lead to future oral health problems like infections and pain. So, it should be extracted.

Effects of a lost back tooth: A lost back tooth should not be ignored, even though it did not cause you much inconvenience initially. The problems start occurring slowly and when they reach a fatal stage, a lot of dental problems are likely to occur. A lost tooth causes several problems and damage to your oral health and appearance if you leave it unattended.

Here are the negative effects of a lost back tooth:

  1. The alveolar bone, which surrounds the teeth requires a good amount of regular stimulation for maintaining health. The lack of stimulation will slowly make the bone waste away.
  2. With a missing back tooth, the bone width is likely to decrease by 25% within a year and will continue decreasing with the passage of time.
  3. The bone loss which occurs due to a missing back tooth will also cause problems in chewing food, and the back molars are designed especially for chewing and grinding food. Your speech will also be affected because of a missing back tooth.
  4. Extensive bone loss can even lead to negative changes in the facial shape. The facial shape also collapses in some cases. This will affect your appearance and will lead to low self-esteem and self-confidence.

Dental Implants: an ideal remedy for a lost back tooth: The best remedy for a missing back tooth is to get a dental tooth implant. Dental implants work effectively to maintain the bone structure. This is because the implants are fused directly into the bone. The bone can function properly and stay healthy after a dental implant is fused into it. You should consult a dentist to choose the best type of dental implant to replace your lost back tooth. Once the implant is installed, your dental functioning will return to normal soon. Little time is required to get adjusted to the implant.

If a back tooth is lost, you will surely miss it. A lost back tooth can affect your overall dental health, may cause bone loss and can even change your facial shape. Dental tooth implants should be used to replace a lost back tooth for maintaining good dental health.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Those bad smelling things r calculus n tartar. Get scalling done by dentist. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs. Naturally our teeth colour ranges from pearly white to pale yellow so everyone cannot hv white teeth. Get scalling n polishing done by dentist. If you r not happy with your teeth shade later, you can get bleaching done by dentist which'll lighten your teeth by 2-3 shades. Alternatively you can use a teeth whitening toothpaste such as snowdent after scalling. Avoid heavily coloured foods, tea n coffee, cool drinks, smoking n tobacco products as they stain teeth.

Removing the food particles from the braces is necessary since they can convert into plaque if they still remain in between the braces. Brushing twice a day and flossing daily is necessary during the orthodontic treatment.

I suffers from mouth ulcers at regular basis kindly suggest me what I have to do or suggest me a medicine for the same.

If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

BDS

Kindly get an x-ray done of the tooth having pain. If it is a wisdom tooth may be she will have to get it extracted. Pain killer will give her only temporary relief. She can take tab ketorol dt 2 tablets dissolved in water. She can also do warm saline gargles as this will also relieve her. Kindly visit your dentist and get the required treatment done.

Hey doctor. Im 23. I have been noticing receding gums for about 3 years now. I heard these problems are caused in 40s or so. But im too young for this. Is there any home remedy or medicines to cure receding gums and grow back gum line? Im scared of flap surgery. Any painless medical treatment? Please reply ASAP.

BDS
Dentist, Purnia
Hi lybrate-user Gums can recede at any age though more common in elderly. Recession can be slowed or stopped only if the cause is removed. In your case it may be due to improper oral hygiene, calculus, improper brushing ,trauma from occlusion, high frenum etc. So I will advise you better Get it evaluated and corrected than to wait for home remedies because it can be too late.
