BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
Just because your tongue is dry, you feel every food spicy. Clean your tongue twice daily. Apply mucopain or dologel ointment 3-4 times daily especially before eating. Increase your intake of water. Eat more raw fruit and vegetables. Apply glycerin (available in any cosmetic store) 2-3 times daily. Avoid spicy food completely for at least 15 days.

I have a bad smell while sneezing and also my saliva is having a bad smell. Is there any medicine for clearing this.

Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum (preferably sugarless) stimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

Is it possible that if root canal treatment is not done properly or by inefficient dental surgeon may lead to internal tumour near the tooth ?

MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist,
Basically root canal is done to remove the infection within the tooth along adjacent root area infection and restore the tooth structure when it become infection free. If root canal is not done the infection may progress to adjacent root area and may lead pain, swelling or pus discharge with gum swelling too the term is not the internal tumor .

My dad's tongue tip is red for last 1 month. No pain. He is above 55 years and has a habit of having tobacco orally. Please suggest if anything serious.

MBBS

Dear lybrateuser, - He should immediately stop having tobacco as it is harmful & can cause such lesions in the oral cavity - consult a doctor for the actual cause & treatment.
