For the right hand pain it might be due to carpal tunnel syndrome, where the pain will be felt in the wrist. You can do hot water fermentation/ wax therapy for shoulder and for the wrist pain (hand pain) you can do ice therapy which will reduce the pain.

Hi. I have regular pain in my legs. I am a lecturer and have to spend 8 hours standing position
What is the severity of pain? is the pain continous or intermittent? is it pulsating? since pain is a complex phenomenon, there are many treatment options medications, therapies, and mind-body techniques. Apart from pain killers, there is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. A therapeutic diet complemented with few medications for pain management can also work wonders. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Knee Pain: Treatment it Requires

MD, FIPP

Knee Pain: Treatment it Requires

knee is the largest joint in the human body and is a complex structure formed of bone, muscle and cartilage. Development of pain in the knees can be caused by numerous factors such as aging, injuries, diseases, dietary deficiencies, etc.

Arthritis is the most common cause of knee pain and usually affects the elderly and aged. It occurs due to an inflammation of the joint and causes pain, swelling, redness and inflexibility of the knees.

What are the factors that determine treatment method?

Diagnosis for knee pain varies from patient to patient as each case is different and must be approached differently. Some of the factors that determine the treatment method are as follows:

  • Cause of the problem
  • Nature and intensity of pain
  • Age of the patient
  • Medical history of the patient
  • Diet and lifestyle of the patient

There are a number of different types of arthritis which can affect the knees in different ways and, consequently, require different types of treatment methods.

What are the various treatment methods for knee pain?

1. Conventional Remedies - These are used in case of conditions that are not too severe or chronic. It includes keeping on bed rest, using an ice pack, taking a painkiller and anti-inflammatory medicines, wearing knee braces, etc.

2. Physical Therapy - There are many stretching and strengthening exercise routines that help alleviate knee pain and treat the condition. Recovery is achieved by making the muscles around the knees stronger and increasing stability and flexibility.

3. Injections to the Knees - A number of anti-inflammatory substances and supplements, as well as lubricants, can be injected into the knee joint which helps reduce pain and makes the joint more supple.

4. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy - This involves drawing platelets from the patient's blood and injecting it into the knee joint for repairing damage caused to ligaments, tendons or cartilage.

5. Surgery - Surgical procedures for treating knee pain include partial or complete knee replacements. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pain management specialist.

You need to improve the tone of the muscles in a rhythmical manner. If you do that with proper diet restriction nothing will happen to you. Body pain is there after gym activity due to tiredness and you need to consume good protein and iron diet in your body which will help you to break the fatigue and body pain. You have to reduce the weight by walking minimum 3-4 kms per day. Slowly reduce the weight and slowly avoid adding salt in the diet which will help you to prevent water retention in the body. Excess salt in general leads to water in the body which might be the reason for you legs to pain as the leg will automatically become oedematous.

Your sister's medical history is suggestive of a probable auto-immune disorder like some form of a polyneuropathy lke Gullain -Barre syndrome. She requires intensive physiotherapy. She should be made to assume standing position using a TILTING TABLE (a standing frame to make bed-ridden patients to stand in physiotherapy clinics) for 20 minutes two times a day. Active assisted lower limb (leg) movements using SUSPENSION THERAPY. MUSCULAR ELECTRICAL STIMULATION CAN BE GIVEN. The above treatments will be available in a physiotherapy rehabilitation set up. You need to do strict permanent alterations in your sister's diet pattern for complete recovery. AVOID THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1.coffee, tea 2.branded health drinks 3. White sugar and products made of white sugar like sweets, cakes, ice creams, bread, bun and all other bakery items 4. Maida products like samosa, puffs, parotta, naan etc 5.high carbohydrate food like potatoes, white rice 6, dairy products (packet milk, curd) 7.noodles,vermicelli, pasta, pizza. 8.NON VEGETARIAN FOOD INCLUDING EGGS INCLUDE HIGHLY ALKALINE FOOD .(LIST GIVEN BELOW) 1.wheatgrass juice, to be taken everyday in empty stomach in the morning. Any other food should be taken after an interval of half an hour. 2.vegetable soup (carrot, beetrot, beans, turnip, coriander, curry leaves, mint leaves) 5.spinach soup 6. Ashgourd juice (white pumpkin) 7.Banana pith (stem) juice. 8.Hand pounded unpolished rice. 9.groundnuts, almonds, pista, walnut, figs, dates, pomogranate, guava. 10. Bilva juice in the morning. SUN BATH with loose fitting cotton clothes for five minutes between 7-7: 30 am in morning. I can prescribe highly effective specific herbal medicines for a complete recovery once I get a detailed overview of her general health status and associated medical conditions.

1 month back I started having severe body ache and high fever. I went to Doctor Who gave me pain killer and anti allergic and after 3 days, I was feeling good. But, after 15 days, again the same body ache and fever. I visited the Doctor Who told me that I was having viral. I was given same medicines but my family suggested to get the typhoid and blood test. I got myself checked and the report showed that my platelet count was 108000. It has been a week and I am taking juices and salads and medicine to get the number increased. Though, Now there is no body ache and my energy level is also good. How long I have to keep taking juices and following such diet.

Hello. Your symptoms suggested the dengue fever, which is a self limiting disease and get cured by taking plenty of fluids, NSAIDS and rest. In your case, you had 2 episodes of viral fever, one of could be dengue fever due to which you had all your associated symptoms and also the decreased platelet count. Normally platelet count normalises within a week or so after the dengue fever subsided. Along with the pain in joints and weakness, it takes around 10-15 days to completely recover from this diseases, provided you are taking proper diet and rest.
