What are the benefits of coconut water? Does coconut water creates fats or increases high amount of calories?

What are the benefits of coconut water? Does coconut water creates fats or increases high amount of calories?
Eat every meal. Listen up: Skipping meals will not make you lose weight faster. That strategy backfires because your body thinks food is in short supply, so it slows your metabolism in order to conserve energy. Over time, the result is that when you do eat — even if you consume the same foods as always — your body will be slower to use the calories as fuel, thus creating a backlog of unwanted pounds. If a hectic day makes a sit-down meal impossible, stash an energy bar or a piece of fruit in your purse or briefcase -- anything that will keep you from going hungry.

Since then, consulted doctor, am taking medicines regularly, walk of 1 hr a day, I have discarded sugar from my life. Still, I am unable to bring my blood sugar to normal levels. Is my condition permanently curable? if not, can you suggest few remedies, diet, lifestyle; medicines or products; to lower the diabetes risk to minimum. There are several herbal/ayurvedic products to combat diabetes available thru tv shopping networks. Are they beneficial? thanks.

Sorry to learn that you became a diabetic in spite of your healthy lifestyle. In most people, diabetes occurs as a combination of hereditary factors, life style, diet & over weight. There's nothing you can do about heredity, right? Thus, in spite of a healthy life style, your genes got you diabetes! Unfortunately, diabetes is NOT permanently curable. If you diabetologist's medicines, your lifestyle & diet have got your sugars well controlled, please continue. In the meanwhile, get evaluated for problems involving your eyes, heart, kidneys & feet. Please do NOT go for so-called herbal medicines sold thru TV shows.

10 Foods That Can Jumpstart Your Metabolism

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist,
10 Foods That Can Jumpstart Your Metabolism

Foods that elevate your metabolism is a good method of losing fat from the body. Include these foods in your breakfast, lunch and dinner to harness their fat burning power. Try these foods to kick start your metabolism:

  1. Eggs: Eggs are considered to be super foods as they are packed with nutrients. Rich in protein and vitamin D, eggs also help boost your metabolism.
  2. Lean meat: Include lean meats, such as chicken and turkey to your diet as they are rich sources of protein. They are also good sources of iron, the deficiency of which may lead to sluggish metabolism.
  3. Chili peppers: Chili peppers are good sources of 'capsaicin', a component that is known to kick start your metabolism into high gear. You may add chili peppers to your dishes to add some pungent flavor as well.
  4. Water: Dehydration may lead to you to feel sluggish the entire day; thus it is necessary to drink cold water as the body burns calories while warming the water.
  5. Coffee: The caffeine content in coffee is known to stimulate your metabolism.
  6. Beans: Beans are known to contain good amounts of protein and fiber. The fiber in the beans help in promoting satiety and restricts your food cravings. They are also rich in iron, a macronutrient that helps in improving metabolism.
  7. Berries: Berries are rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C that help combat free radical damage in the body. They also contain fiber that promotes healthy digestion.
  8. Chocolate: Chocolate is a good source of magnesium that helps to regulate blood sugar levels in the body. It is also known to stimulate various hormones in the body that burn fat.
  9. Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is known to regulate blood sugar levels in the body. It also boosts acid production in the stomach, thus promoting healthy digestion and contributing to an increased metabolism.
  10. Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a herb that has certain properties which help in metabolizing carbohydrates in the body, thus increasing your overall calorie burn and kick starting your metabolism.

Ayurveda never believed to supply nutritions to body. Ayurveda only think about digestion. If your digestion power (not only of stomach, but also all metabolism) is good, high nutritional valued foods will help. If your digestion power is week, dryfruit will also harm. Chyvanprash is the best choice, it will help all season. Other is rasayana churna. Focus on healthy life style. Avoid day sleep. Take hot boiled water whenever you get chance. Eat only 75% of hunger. Any more help you need from true ayurveda, we are happy to help.

Treating Chest Congestion With Ayurveda

MD, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), PGDEMS, DNHE, DYA
Ayurveda, Mumbai
Treating Chest Congestion With Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an ancient life science that originated in India. It recognises herbs as medicines and Yogic postures as well as lifestyle changes as the supporting factors in its medicinal field. It is called a life science because the basic mode of treatment is done by tweaking one's lifestyle in order to reach the root cause of the ailment, which will be cleared from one's life gradually. Congestion is recognised as the accumulation of too much mucus and fluid in your lungs and is usually born due to an imbalance of the Vata Dosha, as per Ayurveda. This congestion can happen in the nasal or respiratory passages.

Let us find out what else Ayurveda says about congestion:

  • Symptoms: The symptoms of congestion include a tickling sensation at the back of the throat as well as the nasal passages, depending on the exact area of the congestion. Also, severe headaches and wheezing along with laboured breathing and tightening of the chest can point at the presence of congestion. In very severe cases, the patient may also complain of blood discharge while coughing, high fever, rashes on the skin, neck stiffness and other such conditions.
  • Causes: There are various causes of congestion. While infection, allergy and cold are some of the most common conditions that may cause congestion, it has also been seen that congestion may arise as a symptom of a more serious ailment. Asthma is one such respiratory ailment that causes swelling in the airways, which can give rise to congestion. Also, inflammation of the bronchial tube lining can cause this condition where a greenish discharge happens due to the viral nature of the condition. Pneumonia and tuberculosis are also ailments, which can cause severe and painful congestion.
  • Remedies: As per Ayurveda, there are many remedies that can help in treating this condition. One can drink herbal tea all day as the anti-oxidants will help in flushing out all those toxins that are causing a painful build-up of mucus and fluids inside. Also, one can use essential oils like eucalyptus oil for inhalation, steaming and even massages. One must take care not to let this oil touch the hair as greying might happen. Yoga and aromatherapy can also be practiced so as to do away with congestion. Also, the patient can add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water in order to do a saline water gargle which will eventually clear the air passages.

Taking care of one's diet is one of the most important parts of any treatment in Ayurveda. Ingesting warm liquids like milk and warm food can help in loosening and removing the mucus build up.

Probably you are suffering from bipolar depression. It is a recurrent illness. But fortunately self limiting. Your doctor has put you on desval er 750 mg. Probably by next year, your depressive period may not be 4 months long, may not be that severe that you can not go to factory. Let us wait and watch. If you continue to have similar intensity episode, your doctor may either increase the dose of desval. For your weight, 97 kg, you may need at least 1500 mg/day. Alternately your psychiatrist may shift you to lamotrigine in gradually increasing dose as a mood stabiliser.

fat quickly
can you tell me diet?
You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. There are exercises specific for each part of body like hips, thighs or abdomen. Comprehensive exercise & diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests.

Being fit and healthy needs atleast two thing consistently. 1. Good diet. Eat more fiber/salad and eat less sugar/processed food 2. Exercise. You don't need gym. Go for daily joggging or do floor exercises at home. Finding a buddy to exercise will help a lot. Keep a goal of fitness for year.

How to reduce our weight. Also tell me diet for that. Any powder is their for that?
Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems including irregular menses are directly related to overweight! Read the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. Medication: Start taking Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 1 month. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. (no need to take any powder) All the best!

1. Add more vegetables to your diet. They are full of minerals, vitamins and fibre, and are highly alkalising to your body. Eating alkalising foods (opposite of acidic foods) helps your body to remove toxins from your body and thus makes you feel great. Eat raw vegetables (Carrots, turnips, Zucchini etc.) and steamed vegetables (Broccoli, spinach and other green vegetables) at least two times a day between your main meals. Add a cup of sprouts (mung beans, chickpeas etc.) to increase the nutrient value even further. 2. You can also add extra virgin Olive oil to your vegetable salads. Adding fat to your diet won't make you fat. Eating wrong fats (saturated) with wrong foods (Fast absorbing carbs) makes you fat. Also add Almonds, Walnuts, Flax seeds and other nuts to get Omega-3 for healthy joints and brain functioning. 3. Eat a variety of fruits at other times of the day. You can add Kiwis, pineapple, pomegranate, and all other seasonal fruits. Don't just stick to one or two. 4. Drink a lot of water throughout the day. Try to maintain your total fluid intake between 5 and 6 litres. 5. Drink green tea 2-3 times a day. 6. Buy a good multivitamin for temporarily fulfilling your body's requirements until you reap the benefits of the above super foods.
